The worst El Fenix Ive been to, went there Saturday evening around 7:30. The food was mediocre at best and over salted. The silverware I got was dirty and had dried food stuck to the fork, told the waitress who really did not seem to care and didnt offer an apology but did get me a clean set. The chips we were served were crumbs. The worst part to me was the staff, it was like these people were dead inside or something; the manager or whatever he was mumbled everything and made it very clear that he did not want to help me and seemed incapable of making eye contact with anyone and was just plain rude. I told him I wanted to buy some chips and salsa when we were paying out and all he could say was "just get them" and motioned to the display next to the register. Avoid this place and if its the closest one to you make the drive to the one in Irving, there you will get a friendly and accommodating experience. If I had to use one word the describe this location on Lemmon, it would be "pathetic". If were being real here, there are so many other non chain Mexican restaurants in Dallas to go to that put El Fenix to shame; my own family makes better food than this place.

Occasionally come here for lunch. They are fast but the food is just ok. Chips and salsa are likely my favorite part. I met my wife for lunch this last time and he was a bit messy. One of the servers gave us a very rude and dirty look when walking by and looking at the floor. Listen, I get it. But welcome to my daily life. I clean up the floor all the time too. At least youre getting paid to do it. Anyhow, I was very put off as it wasnt that big of a mess for a kid. Anyhow, again, the food is ok but not great. Ill drop in for lunch from time to time, but last time really annoyed me. So it wont be for a while.

I just dont understand why people go here. The food is worse than the mexican food at chilis. Its bland and tasteless. The chips taste like flavorless doritos. The salsa tastes like mildly flavored tomatoes with no spiciness at all. The service is prompt but with very little enthusiasm. The only thing this place has going for it is decoration. Take your kids here and let them pretend they are eating Mexican food. Make sure you fill up on taco bell yourself though. Its more authentic!

This is one of the BEST of the brand. You cant go wrong here. I recommend the enchiladas and the margaritas on the rocks. Theres also a great Wednesday special. Theyre always busy, but rarely on a wait. If youre looking for someplace where you can get a great meal, good service, not feel rushed, and be back at work in under an hour (or you want to meet for a quick first date), this is the perfect place.

The service was awesome. My husband had the hatch chile enchiladas and they were great. I on the other hand made a not so wise choice and ordered the chicken fried steak. While we were waiting we joked about them searching the walk in freezer for the frozen chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, we were correct. It was obviously a frozen product. I however dont blame them, I should have known better.

Exactly what you expect from El Fenix. Subpar Mexican food served by accented older Hispanic men looking to serve overly sweetened margaritas and stadium quality queso. Chips and salsa are worth the visit, but everything else has been optimized by use of big box food service industry suppliers. Dont expect anything farm to table and youre visit will be whelming.

I am sad; my order to go from El Fenix was a surprise for my quadriplegic husband. The food was good; but my husband did not get his pico de gallo, instead he was given sliced jalapenos; I ordered beef enchiladas and I received cheese enchiladas; and the corn tortillas that made up my enchiladas was hard. What happened to my favorite Mexican restaurant?

Wow. Not sure how El Fenix stays in business. Gross food, awful service and overall a horrible experience. It has really gone down-hill since the new owners took over a few years ago. Across the board, every El Fenix I visit is the same experience. Gross and the worst service. Waited 20 minutes (no exaggeration) for our bill.

This is probably my favorite El Fenix locations in not just because its located closest my home. The staff is wonderful and the ambiance is great and of course the menu is outstanding. My husband and I have never had to wait to be seated here and theres always a parking spot right up front.

Food was okay, service was a little slow. Maybe our waitress was new? She seemed flustered and disorganized. In general I like El Fenix, but I might or might not come back here. Nothing great about this location, just standard Mexican food.

I really like the puffy tacos and the maximillion plate with a sour cream chicken enchilada. Food comes out so fast it feels like it arrives right after you place the order. Love that about this place.

Food wasnt bad, just dull. Service wasnt great. Salsa kinda sucked. If this restaurant were a beer, it would be a natty lite. Oh and it was defiantly overpriced for what you get (I got the enchiladas).

A classic Dallas Mexican restaurant that is worth checking out. The food is very good and very fairly priced. They always have tasty specials that change fairly frequently. Give this place a try!

Amazing food! There is a very short wait time after you order. I have seen a lot of reviews saying that the staff is very friendly, but unfortunately, I didnt have a great staff experience.

A consistent favorite..Food is priced fairly. Taste is close to my Mexican upbringing and even after a complete remodel that still managed to keep the charm of the previous atmosphere.

Had the botano platter and it was perfect for 2. The draft beer selection was very limited and the margaritas were average. Not bad but other places nearby are better.

The best steak quesadillas in the city! I know people like to be all fancy and go to boutique mexican restuarants in Texas but El Fenix is just straight up delish!

Food was very bland, small portions. Lots of filler. Service was prompt but lifeless. Host that seated us was downright rude. Colorfully decorated and clean.

Love this place. A regular date night for us. It is easily comparable food-wise to all of the bigger tex-mex chains, and they have EXCELLENT corn chips!
