Several things went wrong during this visit. First, the waitress gave my friend and I dirty silverware that had to be replaced. Once our orders came back from the kitchen, mine was wrong, and there was hair in my food. I informed the waitress of the problem, and her solution was to scrape the food with the hair in it off my plate, then set that same plate back down in front of me with the promise of a "discount." I then had to get the attention of a different waitress who seemed to better understand the importance of food safety, and she immediately took the plate to have it completely remade. By that time, however, I had completely lost my appetite and told her there was no need to remake it. This was my first visit to this place and I will not be going back again.

This place is absolutely great! Denton desperately needed a 24 hr diner that serves breakfast food! The prices are very affordable, and the food is tasty. The dix special is the perfect amount of food at a great price. The chicken in a blanket (fried chicken and a pancake) is a steal and very college-budget friendly. If you have a big appetite, I recommend the pastrami burger! The one downside to this place is that seating for more than a group of 4 can be tricky. Another interesting fact is that they dont serve pork here (beef bacon is interesting in a good way). This is a local place that I would recommend to anyone visiting, looking for a budget-friendly breakfast. While nothing here is extraordinary, everything is just as it should be. BHB approved.

We drcided to give this place a try out bcz we are late nighters & usually eat at IHOP but decided to give Dix Coney Island a chance. This is located on the west side corner of the towns historical square. Its a small maybe 60 capacity diner w/ breakfast being one of its biggest draws on the restraunt. Draws a young bar crowd although we were not the only middle aged patrons. The menu is simple but lots of choices. Its a greasy spoon kind of place but the food was really quite good & plenty of it. They offer full breakfasts to burgers & cheesesteak sandwiches. I had a ribeye sandwich on a special roll it was excellent. The pancakes are enormous! Overall, we had a good experience & will return again.

The absolute worst food on the square. Me and my girlfriend went there after exploring the square a little. The service and overall experience were okay, but the food ruined it beyond belief. We shared an order of chili fries , and when it came it was a pile of mush. It didnt smell very pleasant either. Each of us took a bite and immediately knew it was bad. It smelled and tasted like the chili had been sitting out for months. Absolutely horrible. Neither of us ate any more and proceeded to grab the check and leave. Before this I never thought it necessary to write a bad review for any food service no matter how bad, but this was just beyond belief. Eat here at your own risk.

My only experiences with Dix Diner is my early Sunday morning final pre-sermon breakfast stop. About once a month, I find myself needing something other than my granola bar at the office. Its an old timey diner with great staff and 1800s brick wall. Great comfort food breakfast. My standard real breakfast, 2 over medium, hash browns, etc. is done just right here. Good coffee and view of Denton Square. I cant speak for lunch or dinner dishes but for me, it makes for a great Sunday. Quiet enough for contemplation and study and cheap enough, too. Cant see a reason to reduce the stars!

Food was pretty tasty, but both times Ive gone service was terrible. First time they forgot about our table and never brought us our coffee, and then delivered a meal missing sides. We had to fetch the waiter to remind them we were still here, and even then we got no apology. The second time I sat at the bar with my guest, and sure enough they still seemed to forget about us. Waters remained unfilled until we finally asked for one, which seems like the most basic thing. Food was alright though, and very inexpensive. If you can deal with crummy wait staff, its a good bargain.

Although my visit today was disappointing Im still giving this place stars because I love DCI and I eat here all of the time. This afternoon I ordered to go, I got pancakes and hashbrowns but everything was burnt and over cooked and they didnt give much hash browns. Ive never had this bad of an experience because every other time I eat in, everything is perfect! Maybe it was the cook today, but I really wish I couldve enjoyed my breakfast. I didnt go back because I didnt want to be THAT customer, but Im not sure when Ill be back now:(

It was a nice place with good service and good food. It is bigger inside than you expect. We had hamburgers, they were good and came on a toasted bun which made it all that much better. The fries were pretty standard but nothing to rave about. Prices were medium. If i were to offer advice to them I would say try to be a bit quicker making the food (but again, it was good). Add a cheeseburger to the kids menu and add a changing table inside the restroom for small children. The changing table alone would make me add a star.

Thursday night my wife and I were on the Square and wanted to eat, we hadnt tried Dix Coney Island yet, walking up the place was poorly lit, kind of creepy. We walked in and seated ourselves, checked out the menu. People filed out, others filed in. After 10 minutes we notice others being waited on, yet not us. We give them another 5 minutes and the only contact we get from the staff is eye contact. At this point, we walked out. Must be nice to not be that busy, yet still able to ignore paying customers.

The service here is quite poor. On two different visits, my order was not put into the computer until I followed up after waiting 30 minutes. The food is poorly cooked, and all breakfast items are drenched in the grill spray. There is no apparent manager on duty any of my three visits, which shows in the wait staffs performance. I have seen and heard employees arguments and trash talk. Three strikes. I hope this place improves, but I will no longer be visiting this place and I do not recommend it.
