As soon as we walked in there was a wait because the hostess was no where to be found, although there were plenty of open tables. After waiting over 5 minutes, we asked the cashier if there was a hostess available. She finally came over and sat us down. We ordered a shrimp cocktail then a couple minutes later the server asked if we still wanted it, of course, we ordered it! I asked if they could leave the cilantro out of the shrimp cocktail and the server said yes. When it arrived, it was swimming in cilantro. The food was not all that great either, rice was very stale and the fajitas for 2 was like onions for 2, meat for 1. If they want to be that cheap, dont claim that its for 2 people. The service was ok but we just did not have a good experience. Went home that evening and got a fever that spiked over 100 degrees. Next day was tested positive for strep throat. Not sure where I got it, but I have a strong suspicion it was this place. Just beware!

My Mom and I visited here for the first time on 5/5/12. There was no wait. It was hot in the restaurant, the food was really not very good. We ordered the new Fajitas, there was only enough chicken for two tacos and at least a half pound of onions in addition to bell pepper and queso (cheese). The steak fajitas were not much better. Neither dish was very warm and the veggie plate was not very appetizing. The value for the money was horrible, the service was good however. The server was friendly and kept the tea full. To be honest my Mom and I did not see that the "new" fajitas had cheese on them when we read the menu. For that we take all responsibility.. however the value for what we received was not acceptable. There are too many other MUCH better options in Dallas. This experience reminded me why I never go to El Fenix.

The management is terrible, he sits and looks at you while he is sitting there talking to other employees. I walked in wheeling my sister in law in, wait to be seated while manager is standing telling something funny to employee, when I asked "Excuse me could we be seated" we were finally seated. Funny thing is, after we were seated manager walked around and just starring at us while asking other how their visit is. I have lived in the area for 6 yrs. since management switched Eli Fenix has just gotten worse. I guess you need to visit to see what I .talking about. Then get back to me.

I came here on a Saturday and the food and service was excellent, however I decided to stop by with my father the next Friday afternoon around lunch time. First the appetizer came with a flea or small fly crawling around the plate. the menu had a dead Gnat on it. The manager came and brought us a nacho platter on the house. When I unrolled the napkin, I saw the napkin was dirty and had dried, old food on the inside. My order came with dry old lettuce and one of my tacos only had 2 small square pieces of grilled chicken surrounded by more old lettuce.

Though a born and bred Texan who grew up on Tex-Mex food south of San Antone, I was visiting from out of state and ate in three Mexican restaurants in three nights. I was very disappointed with the first in Desoto; it had mediocre food at way too high a price. Then I ate here. What a treat! I was back home in Texas with superb Tex-Mex food! All was delicious with more than I could eat and I was surprised at the price. It was near 1/2 of what I expected. Eat here. You cant go wrong. (They have nice people speaking English.)

This location has been a family tradition for my entire life (my grandmother took us here as kids), and it has only gotten better with time. Theyve retained the classic menu while adding interesting new dishes to spice things up. The ambience is the best around; I love the architecture and the warm interior. Im not giving it five stars because the food isnt QUITE good enough for that - but its great overall. You need to try the sopapillas for dessert.

El Fenix at Casa Linda might have the most attentive management Ive had. Of the few times I have been there, the manager has come by the table to ask how everything is, bring us an appetizer, or take our order. It seems to be a very well run restaurant. I have no complaints about the food either. It is good, inexpensive Mexican food for an easy night out. I love the Inca Gold margarita when I go there. I think youll be happy with any food you get too.

We have been loyal, more than satisfied patrons for 50 years UNTIL YESTERDAY! We ordered cheese & chicken enchilada dinners~Their recipes, ingredients, or cooks have changed! The chicken enchiladas were tasteless; the cheese enchiladas actually had a grainy feeling! My wife couldnt finish her meal! We were very disappointed in what had been our favorite Mexican Restaurant!

This place has the very best chips and salsa, ever! I always enjoy my lunch or dinner here. My favorites: the mixed fajitas with chicken and beef, the nachos are always perfect, and the lunch plate of grilled chicken soft tacos is good and a lot of food. Service is always good to great! The Casa Linda location is my favorite! They are very busy on Wednesdays!

You shouldnt advertise something as Tilapia thats obvious some cheap, rubbery crap - not that Tilapia is that expensive. If I didnt cook Tilapia on a regular basis, I might not know any better, but I still wouldnt order this crap again. Fortunately, I almost never go to El Fenix and this experience has reaffirmed my thoughts.

its the cheese. I love cheese, but it seems like their cheese is made of powder. when you lift your fork with cheese on it, there are not strings. and the taste, well it is just awful. my frist time I just brushed it off, but my second time, no way. so I havent been back. get the real cheese and Ill be back.

Food is always great. Really enjoyed the visit today. Karina R. was our server and did a awesome job. She is entertaining and checked on us several times during lunch. However, we didnt feel rushed or interrupted during our meal. If you visit this location please ask to sit in Karinas section. She is great

We have dinner here about once a week. The food is good; it is ready very quickly; and they are open until 10:00 (My husband works until 9:00). Also, the service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are reasonable. My foodie kids always want a meal at El Fenix when they are in town, too!
