Hibachi style restaurants I like them thats an understatement, I love them. But this one here I feel mixed about it but Ill let you be the judge. (Disclaimer I visited twice before doing the review) This place has a great location right of the freeway next to a lot of shopping so you could do a lot in this area. Once you get inside it takes about a minute or two before someone greets you even if its not busy which the two times I have been have been during the week and the place had about 15 to 18 customers max already seated and eating. The place on the inside is not really that big has 5 or 6 Hibachi tables and the Sushi seating is exactly what it says it is Sushi Bar. Of course the whole place has low lighting so that you can enjoy the fiery onion volcano. The servers make it seem like its their first day which possibly could be true since both times I went there were help wanted signs in the door. The highlight of the place is the Hibachi Chefs they all seem to have a good sense of humor at times and are good with the tricks that they do but the down side is they all have the same tricks. The food is GOOD had to be I went back a second time, I was just hoping that the whole experience was a little better. I will be going back and hopefully the 3rd time is the charm.

Long wait at hibachi table after seating - and few people were there. Table was not very clean. Sushi chef was obviously inexperienced. Portions were small and I left hungry - poor value. Very uneven portions between people at table. I think the sushi chef gave half of my steak and shrimp away as samplers to others at the table. Asked if I want fried rice but not told its $2 extra. Manager was seen on occasion with house phone clipped on back of his belt and playing with cell phone in hand - ear plug cables hanging off of shoulders - tacky and unprofessional looking - never came around to check on any customers. I eat at hibachi restaurants all over the country often and was just, overall, disappointed with this place. Food was average. The other people at our table felt the same way as we did across the board. I wish I had taken pictures to show the table condition and the ration-like proportions... I would say: Give them a chance, see if they have improved, and post your own experience. Things dont improve unless you speak up.

If I could give it a zero I would...... My girl and I came to eat here and I figured we would have a Benihanna type of experience close to home. When we walked in they asked if we would like to sit in the regular restaurant dining or with the hibachi side, so we chose the hibachi side. They sat us down and provided us with some very flavorless soup and a side salad that had wilted lettuce and watered down dressing. We look over and see a family enjoying their meal and being cooked for and we were waiting on our turn to get some food prepared. About 10 minutes later the chef comes and turns on the grill and leaves again. We wait another 25 minutes with minimal check-ins from the waitress, then they seat another family with us. At this point were starving and upset because they didnt tell us we needed to wait until the table is full to have a chef come over. I asked how much I owed for the horrible soup and salad and we left because we werent informed of their process or that we would have to wait a ridiculous amount of time.

I am guessing he folks who have written positive reviews have only eaten sushi at Toshios in Duncanville for comparison...either that or when I went last night they were having a seriously bad day. The philly roll was dry and boring. It reminded me very much of some pre-packaged philly rolls I got in a hospital snack bar once. Absolutely no flavor at all. The other rolls we tried (we sampled a total of five rolls) were bland bland bland. No real cleverness or feeling in the food and a lack of tasty sauces to accompany them. Sushi should be fresh and have flavor. The textures should be complimentary and fresh. Not a sign of this anywhere in what we tried. Ive had sushi all over the U.S and still have never found a better, tastier and more friendly place than Kaze in Mesquite. You want really fine sushi and hibachi? Head east on I20 to Kaze or even go west to Piranha Killer Sushi in Arlington and skip this place. You wont be sorry.

My boyfriend and I enjoy this place! The food is great and the servers are so sweet! The first time we went here the people who were sat at our table were completely stuck up donkeys and were rude to the wait staff and thought they were better than everyone. They had absolutely no manners and acted like it was a burden to be there. I really wanted to give them not just a piece of my mind but the whole thing. The second time we were partnered up with 2 really great couples and they provided a fantastic conversation and fellowship. Its apparent that English is not the first language of the majority of the staff and I love it. It adds culture and authenticity to the business. Be patient and kind with them as they went through the trouble to learn our language and they are serving you. You are not above them and they are not below you. They are people and deserve to be treated with decency and respect.

I went here with my boyfriend because I recently moved to Dallas and I wanted to find a good hibachi place. I gave it such a low score for a couple of reasons. It was our first time there and I really wanted sushi. They have a ton of options and theyre all different so I needed time to decide. The waitress however, kept coming back every minute to ask if I was ready. Finally she just decided to stand there and stare at me until I decided so I just chose one almost at random. I dont understand why she rushed me when it took another 20 minutes to fill our table. I ended up paying 15 dollars for DRY sushi that tasted no better than sushi you buy at a cafeteria. My boyfriend had the steak and shrimp hibachi and he said it was nothing special. The whole cooking process felt rushed and impersonal. I really wanted to like it but I didnt. I will not return.

I love sushi. I lived in San Diego for four years and Ive sushi that was swimming in the ocean prior to enjoying it. And I hate to see it, this place is barely par. Most sushi chefs spend 7-10 years just learning rice. Whoever made mine today needs to start back at year one. The rice was mushy, and it was def sticky but not in a good way. The fish has some def flavor that indicates it probably wasnt kept at the proper consistent temp, going from freezer to room temp to quickly, reflects in the taste. The crunch roll had cucumber, do I need to expand on why thats not right? This place has a generic menu and probably gets business just because people who dont eat sushi often and because lack of competition. Its good to suffice that sushi craving, but make sure you havent been to a quality place recently cause your taste buds will let you know.
