What To Order: Beef Tenderloin Medallions, & Fried Green Tomatoes I come for the food, the beer is good too, but the food is amazing. Lets start off with the fried green tomatoes. I ordered them once and was hooked. I didnt want to share them they were so good. They come out in an order of about 6 large slices, about 1 whole large tomato. They are battered, seasoned and fried crispy. When you bite into them they are full of flavor. They come served with lemon and a green cilantro, lime, jalapeno sauce. On to the entrees, Ive tried a few but the one that stands out is the Beef Tenderloin Medallions. They are amazing, grilled on the outside with tons of flavor, medium in the middle. Served on top of a bed of wild rice and vegetables that will blow you away. The vegetables consist of a variety of red and green & yellow peppers, onions, & asparagus. A side of Argentinian Chimichuri and Avacado Butter finish off the plate. The mix of flavors is amazing. Its spicy, crunchy, buttery, smokey all in one. I always order the large plate, and take whatever I dont finish to go because Its amazing and I enjoy it all over again at home the next day. Serving sizes on the large entrees are pretty big, the smaller size portions are good if your sharing items and eating appetizers as well. On to the beer menu, which cycles every so often. Unique beers that Ive only found regionally pop up at the Dodging Duck, including hatch chili beer, pumpkin beer, and vanilla porters. Whether your a food fanatic, or a beer connoisseur, this place has it all. Pop in, enjoy an amazing meal, some good craft beers, a view of the river if you dine outside and see what this place has to offer.

Well, Ive been there four times with the family... myself, wife, 17 yr old, 15 yr old and 11 yr old.... the first three visits were the best ever. We loved the excellently crafted beer and the food is amazing. However, we all know how the server can make or break the experience. Our 4th trip to the Duck was at my 15 yr old boys request and the experience was terrible. Maybe because we brought his girlfriend which made us a party of six... so she knew she would get a 20% tip automatically... or maybe she just didnt like us. FACTS: She got 3 orders wrong, other servers came outside to check on their patrons 3 to 1. And when I dont drive... which I wasnt... I order 3 beers - not 2...she brought the check without asking about desert or if I wanted another drink.... and forgot we had our sons birthday cake in their fridge. Needless to say I just paid the bill... said "Yah Right" to the additional tip and left without complaint to appease my son on his birthday. We most likely will go back again... but will have the awkward moment of saying "we want a different server".

I ordered the chili as a starter and the Chicago hotdog with Bavarian potato salad. First, the chili. They brought it out with the meal instead of before. It was barely even warm. Id say about 80 degrees. I asked if they would warm it up a bit. They brought it back about ten minutes later and I think it was in the microwave that entire time because it was literally boiling and bubbling. After it finally cooled off (everyone was finished with their meals)and I could taste it, I realized that it wasnt worth the trouble. It didnt have any beans or flavor and the meat was so chewy. The hotdog was good, and so was the potato salad. Bavarian potato salad is my favorite food and I bet theirs is a really good recipe and they just left out the seasonings. I added salt and pepper and it was alright. My husband got the meat platter. It was not worth the price, but the meat and mustard were of good quality. My son ordered the chicken nuggets and fries and they were the best part of the meal. Really great French fries.

Not much ambience on the inside, but it is great to sit on the patio when the weather is temperate - nice view of the river. The last time we were there started inside and asked to be seated outside - our order wound up getting lost in the process! The waitress compensated for this though by knocking 50% off our bill and bringing us some tasty blue corn chips to munch on with some fresh tasting hot sauce with a little bite to it while we waited on our other food. We all had the fish and chips - some of the best I have ever had! Large piece of fish with a wonderfully crunchy batter - not soggy at all. Great homemade tarter sauce and all the malt vinegar you could want! Tried two of their microbrews - a Heiferweizen and one called Veronicas Amber Ale. The Heiferweizen was a disappointment - tasted mostly like drinking carbonated water, but loved the Veronicas Amber Ale - had hints of carmel and honey - not too heavy. Must check out if you are ever in Boerne!

Wish I could give 0 stars. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to come by, as 3 other staff members walked back and forth serving their tables. She finally appeared, blaming a "communication problem," and took our drink and appetizer order. 3 minutes later she was back with the drinks and took our meal order, so things were looking up. Then 18 minutes passes with nothing. We paid for our drinks at the bar and left. Another server, who actually seemed competent, apologized. I hope that waitress gets fired, because shes truly incompetent. Im rating the food low because Im assuming no quality standards on the floor means none in the kitchen either, not that we got the chance to eat anything in our over 30 minute stay. We are new to the area and will not be back. We were hoping for good, local food, and got ok beer (the darker beers are decent, the light beers taste medicinal), no food, and no service to speak of.

I love this place. The food is delicious... especially the burgers. They have a great beer selection too. I had to laugh about the prissy sister (gender unknown) who ranted about dogs being on the patio. Give me a break. I have been once with my dog and seen others with their little four legged buds from time to time. I have NEVER seen a dog misbehaving or snarling, etc. What a crock... and whats next? Kill the duck (whos actually been overshadowed by the current celebrity Goose Family (hehe)? But I digress. The management is first rate, food outstanding... and its just a cool place to hang. Dont pass it by if you want good eats and drinks. I live in San Antonio and will drive the 20 minutes out of my way for this place. My wife, friends and even my precious but picky parents love it too. Really folks... the burger with a side of sauteed veggies is scrumptious. Two thumbs up!!!

Have been there twice. First time the owner gave me & my wife a short tour of the brewery. Its been a couple of years since that visit, so I dont remember what we had to eat, but it must have been good because we both looked forward to coming back. Second time I had the Beef Tenderloin Medallions with the Brazilian chimichurri sauce and it was absolutely fantastic. It was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. My wife had the veggie feast and really enjoyed it as well. Cant remember which beers we tried. I like almost anything except for Miller light, Coors light, Bud light...so I wasnt disappointed. All of his beers are good and there is enough variety that you will be able to find something you like.
