Twisted Root Burger offers many variations on hamburgers, including not only the usual beef but also buffalo, and every day they offer one of several exotic options from a list that includes venison, elk, lamb, ostrich, rabbit, duck, boar, beaver, kangaroo, emu, gator, and camel(!)—I imagine this must be a bit like ordering a burger in Nairobi. "In The Buff," a burger rendered with Comanche Ranch Buffalo meat and grilled onions on wheat bun, proved quite tasty. Though buffalo meats leanness means a certain amount of dryness, I still enjoyed it. The menu also features a build-it-your-way section that allows you to pick and choose from a variety of exotic and quotidian ingredients with which you can construct the perfect burger. Accompaniments include traditional straight-cut fries, melted cheddar fries, fried onion strings, fried pickles, and sweet potato chips (with optional peanut butter dip). There are salads for the agnostics, and beer, whiskey, and cocktails for the holy rollers. The variety of options is so rich that even the quintessential narcissist might feel hes having his burger his way, and that might explain why the architecture looks reminiscent of a Burger King rehashed for the set of The Jetsons. On top of that, outside there is a small miniature golf course so you can practice putting or put your kids in play while you relish your strange but wonderful hamburger.

Kinda dig the theme here...along w/just the cool quirkiness of it. My first time here and the gal that took my order at the counter was just so sweet in getting me acquainted with the whole menu, process, and pickle bar. She even let me sample the sweet potato chips and peanut butter dipping sauce before ordering (cuz you cant get the spchips w/o the pb, trust me on this one!). I had the Freshman 15 burger; this thing was pretty massive and came w/everything except a student loan and "fat pants"! They have a pretty funny name calling system. You get assigned a name of a famous person, tv personality, or character. It was entertaining to hear the different names being called. I chuckled a lil bit when Beyonce, Lil Kim, and Mary Catherine Gallagher were all called (me and my friends orders) because one these is definitely not like the others! The price point is in keeping w/the a la carte burger trend of Shake Shack, Mighty Fine, and the like, so plan on dropping $12+ for your burg, fries, and drink. They have a little bar cabana in the patio seating area and if you buy an adult bevvie or milkshake you get a free round of mini-golf, so that needs to happen next time! All in all a good first impression.

Solidly "meh". The place gets crowded, and when that place is crowded that generally means lots of kids running around. Im OK with kids, but the setup of the place (outdoor mini golf area) means that kids are running back and forth to and from their tables a lot. At least as of my last visit, when you order a hamburger the gimmick is to assign you the name of some random famous person. Yuk yuk. I guess thats entertaining for some people but when its crowded and loud I want to be listing for *my* name, not "Frank Sinatra". The outdoor bar is OK I guess, though if there are more than a couple people waiting in line the wait can be extremely long. Theres no indoor bar, so you cant order a beer with your burger. The burgers Ive had have been unexciting at best. With local establishments like Top Notch, P Terrys, Hopdoddy, Billys on Burnet, etc etc all within a few minutes drive, Im not sure its worthwhile. (And theres a Tacodeli right next door if youre looking for lunch.)

I really enjoyed everything that was offered. It has a cute Austin cork to the decor, there is plenty of parking in the are. You may have to walk a bit but its close. There is the putt putt in the back of the restaurant, I guess you bring your own stuff, not sure how that works, I was there for lunch during the weekday so I didnt see anyone playing. The ordered, is walk up and order and they give you a celebrity name and you get your food after. There is a giant condiments bar to select from. It seems that there is more people than seating a lot of the times, but if you wait around you can probably snag yourself a seat. I ordered a burger with extra crispy bacon, the bacon didnt come out crispy, but the manager? came by asking if things were good and she offered to bring me a side of bacon, and it was better the second time around. Its a ton of food, well I ordered a good amount at least. I really liked the Oreo Milkshake, it was very tasty and probably super fattening.

Twisted Root finally brings upscale burgers to the campus area and it is delicious (if a little expensive). If youre expecting Hopdoddy, be warned that its not quite that fancy yet costs about the same. The atmosphere is extremely inviting/chill and the staff has always been super friendly. There is ample seating inside and out and they have a large bar that should be popular during football season (or if they pick up a good trivia producer). The burgers themselves can be customized to your hearts content or you can choose from their extensive selection of premade designs. They can get pretty pricey rather quickly, so be careful about your ingredients. You can specify how cooked you want the burger, but it always seems to come out medium regardless of what you say. While the burgers are certainly not small, I usually need an order for fries to complete my meal. Make sure you load up on the spicy pickles from the pickle bar! Theyre delicious!

I visited Twisted Roots before in different location, so was quite excited about dinner here. First, I like how twisted is their interior and the way they give you names of celebrities instead of boring numbers. Second they offer really good burgers. You can even try burgers from exotic meats like ostrich, kangaroo, alligator or buffalo. Though have in mind usually they serve buffalo and ONE of the exotic meats (it changes daily). This time I went simple - tried regular beef burger Big Tex. It was cooked just the way I wanted and tasted amazing. They have free refills for drinks so my root bear float glass was never empty. They have nice choice of their own burgers, but you have create your own option too. They have plenty of seating inside and outside, so its good place for big groups too. I think price for the quality you get is quite good (and burgers are big). I will definitely come back to Twisted roots for one more tasty burger!!!

The staff was attentive and nice as can be! They give you a red paper to call "your" name - and by this, they give you a popular name. For example, mine was Louis Lane. Catchy and fun! Oh, and the music is awesome! The burger had a fantastic look to it. I tried the fries first and they were one of the best fries Ive tried in a long time with just the right amount of seasonings! Then I took a bite of the burger. Initially, the taste was very pleasant, but I looked down and it was very red in the center. I dont mind it too much, but to the point that youre squeezing the burger and blood is dripping and the bun is soaked? Not for me, althought my brother would completely enjoy it just the way it was cooked - or not. I still enjoyed the experience and Ill come back, but definitely will ask them to cook it just the way I like mine done. After all, for almost $15 (burger, fries and a drink), I better get my moneys worth.
