I used to frequent this place during the crawfish season for their specials, but its probably been a good 2 years or so since Ive been back. Well, I went back tonight since my roommate and I were craving oysters on the half shell and our experience was definitely lacking. First of all, we got seated promptly at the bar area in a booth and the place smelled like urine. We asked to be seated somewhere else and the hostess and server were great about accommodating our request. After being re-seated near the middle of the restaurant a straight shot from the kitchen, we would still notice a wafting scent of the urine once in a while although not as overwhelming as where we first sat. Very odd considering the restrooms were on the complete opposite side of the building. While the service was definitely friendly, our dining experience was strongly influenced by the unseemly smell already. We each ordered a dozen oysters, which were delicious, then were extremely underwhelmed by the cheesy grits and New Orleans Style Campechana. The campechana uses some of their lemon ponzu sauce (which the server insists they have always had although I have never had it previously before) which we found to be too salty and vinegary/sour tasting. The red beans and rice we ordered was pretty good though. Overall, our experience could just be described in one word: Underwhelming, especially for the $45 we spent.

The host working the table chart need to seriously review his job description, and quit as soon as possible as he has worst than worst attitude towards everyone around him.the food = Old hard bread (it was honestly 2 blinks away from a mold plagued infestation of mold), cold food, price and expectation of value is not equivalent, the food tasted old and over cooked, worst than a closed down fast food joint, the food had a nasty fridge burn taste to it, I doubt if they ever clean the fridge the food was stored in, the bread had a heavy coach roach taste to it, I would seriously not recommend this place to anyone. I can deal with bad service sometimes when it is at a lower price joint, but for over priced food I expect the quality to match it. I have been to taco stands off of Runberg that tasted better on a bad day. Unless you want roach debri taste on your tongue I would warn you against this place. And please warn your friends. Maybe if I was there drinking and had heavy beer goggles I would possibly settle to think the food at any level was remotely safe for human consumption. Im suprised the health department has not flagged this place... or maybe they have?.

I visited Pappadeaux Seafood last night for the first time to celebrate my mothers 74th birthday, and it was very nice. From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. We were seated right away and on time as we had a 7:00PM reservation. Our server, Justin, deserves 5-stars for his service. He was very professional and kept our glasses full, all 8 of us. The only reason I didnt rate this place a 5 star is because the food was not as great as I anticipated. Coming from South Florida, I guess Im used to having fresh and wild caught seafood so perhaps my expectations were set too high. We ordered the seafood sampler, shrimp and grits, grilled shrimp, and a few appetizers all of which were mediocre but I actually enjoyed the dessert more! I was stunned when I was told that they dont have shrimp scampi (especially for a "seafood" restaurant). Overall, my family and I enjoyed ourselves and will most likely return someday.

Seafood fans? Yes, sir! Cajun fans? Not so much. Either way, my wife and I dropped by for an early dinner one Wednesday since weve heard so much about this place. The Cajun flavor profile can be quite a toss up for Asian taste buds but Pappadeaux was a home run for us! We ordered the Fried Alligator, the Shrimp & Scallop Orecchiette Pasta, and the Pasta Mardi Gras (personal favorite!) All 3 dishes were exceptional and I would highly recommend them to everyone. The dishes here are more expensive in general but I would say they are well worth the quality, especially with the large portions they are serving. To cap off a great dining experience, the service was good throughout. Bravo! Tip: Come early! We came at 6pm on a Wednesday night and it was only about 1/5 full. But by the time we finished about an hour and half later, the place was completely PACKED!

Very disappointed in Pappadeaux. Took a group of 6 from work to have appetizers and a few drinks. Arrived at about 5:45 and everyone had a drink. We ordered appetizers and had a second drink. I will admit the group was a bit loud but not offensive - after all they call it happy hour for a reason. We were going to order a final round and leave when the Manager came over and informed us that Pappadeaux has a drink limit and we were told to leave. Maybe 2 minutes later our waiter came to the table to see if we wanted another round and when we informed him that we were being kicked out - he could not believe it. Asked the waiter if someone complained and he said not to his knowledge. Have been to Pappadeaux many, many, times but this will be the last time that I go to Pappadeaux in Austin. Thank you maam you saved me lots of money.

This was by far the worst customer service experience. $50 bill for cold food and crappy, un-attentive service. First, the bread was brought out to the table after about 15 minutes. I didnt mind at first, as the waiter said he was waiting on a fresh batch out of the oven. When the bread got to the table, the top edge was lukewarm and the rest of the loaf was rigid and cold. THEN, I had to ask for a breadknife. He brought a butter knife. I decided to let the bread thing go, figuring that the main course would be much better. Wrong! My friends fries was gummy and cold. Not warm, actually cold! The side of potatoes I had with my cedar-plank salmon was also solid, gummy, and luke-warm. Luckily the fish was hot. The waiter was unapologetic and didnt offer to replace the cold portions of food.

NO REGRESO JAMÁS
