My wife and I have eaten here 3 times in the last 2 weeks and found the quality of the catfish to be consistently excellent! The first time we ate here my wife did not care for her chicken fried steak and did not eat it , the waitress removed it from our bill without us complaining or "demanding" something be done. We were prepared to pay for the meal because most restaurants we have eaten in Austin would have charged us for the meal because it was partially eaten. In my humble opinion this place has the best catfish that I have eaten in Austin that was not cooked by my wife and their chicken strips are a real competitor ( I still like the fish better). I have not had a chance to visit the daily lunch buffet from 1100 to 1400 so I do not know if the quality is the same as the evening meals, i would assume it is. I know that this is becoming one of my favorite places to grab a bite after work. The service ranges from AWESOME to abysmal, it all depends on who you get. If you get the young lady saving up for her wedding next year it will be Awesome, at least ours was. Friday nights they have a buffet with the catfish fillets and chicken both on it as well as a very good selection of other food (even has fried chicken gizzards for us old farm hounds that like em), The serving sizes are fair for the prices charged and the quality is excellent. My only complaint from the buffet was I was soo stuffed on the way home my stomach hated me but it was my own fault. I was raised that wasting food is a sin, I think wasting this fried catfish and chicken should be a crime...it is that good. Next time I will skip the mashed potatoes and gravy and save room for 1 more fillet of catfish :) LOL

I love the buffet! Im a vegetarian so the lunch buffet is the best option for me to have a variety of vegetables, salad and fruit or dessert. Meanwhile my husband loves the fried green tomatoes and catfish. My only critique is the Styrofoam plates and cups. As a customer I dont like to go to a restaurant and use Styrofoam and I urge Springhill to consider another option. Here are some reasons to choose an alternative: 1. Waste. Because these are single use items they are thrown away after use and therefore money is going into trash at each meal. 2. Money. With a plastic, metal or ceramic plate you can wash and reuse them and reduce the amount of money going straight to trash. While it would be an investment initially and surely they will need replaced with time, the cost to wash a plate for a month would be less than the number of plates needed for those same customers that will throw them away after the meal. 3. Pollution. There are studies of the effects of styrofoam entering the food chain through pollution, particularly through the fish. As the Styrofoam disintegrates the small particles are consumed by fish and shrimp which are then consumed by humans. So its like eating the plate/cup you are using. As long as my husband wants good food well continue to eat at Springhill but I hope you consider an alternative to Styrofoam plates and cups for everyones benefit. Also the staff is very friendly!

I had my child baptism party at the restaurant we had close to 40 people in the party room we had one waitress she was nice but it took so long for her to complete our drink orders and also keep up with refills people are waiting over 10 minutes for a drink refill. We chose to do the buffet the food was okay the chicken was very dry and when people for my party would ask for certain items to be refilled on the buffet the wait staff was very rude we were ushered because we had so many people that they were going to keep on top of refilling the food and they did not. On top of that there was a defensive driving class going on right next door to the party I understand we were a little loud they were close to 40 people and children talking but they kept coming over and slamming the door the door would not stay shut the door knob is broken so we would have people slamming the door if it was ridiculous. If they would have told us there was a class going on next to the party room we would have booked the party somewhere else. I was very disappointed we paid quite a bit to have our party at Springhill. It was a joyous day ruined my rude people.

My boyfriend and I, and our friends, have eaten here countless times. We have all always been pleased with both our service and the food we received at Springhill. Tonight, however, that changed. My boyfriend and his friend ate at Springhill earlier this evening and enjoyed their food, received great service as usual. He purchased a to-go order of fried green tomatoes for me. When he got home and opened the container, amongst the fried tomatoes he found a COCKROACH. The cockroach appeared to be "fried" as well. We will never eat at Springhill again for this reason. Someone on here mentioned in their review to "get extra crispy for that extra crunch," now Im starting to wonder if that "extra crunch" was a critter in the food..... Idk about yall but I could never stomach eating here knowing that theres a possibility they are frying my food in the same grease as cockroaches. Sorry Springhill, we loved you until now, never once had an issue with food before this happened.

Last minute we wanted to go to a low key, no wait restaurant for Valentines and came across this place on Google maps. The driveway is a little steep for a mustang and is confusing with 3 entries to the area in which only one will reach the restaurant. The cozy interior feels like walking into an antique shop and has both booths and tables. Great white noise (make it easier to hear), excellent service, superb food. The waitress was attentive and timed our food correctly. Our appetizer, entrees, and dessert included fried green tomatoes, mushrooms, okra, cheese sticks, catfish, shrimp, fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, pinto beans, oatmeal raisin cookie w/ ice cream, peach cobbler w/ ice cream. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out hot. The portions are big enough that this could have fed six people! We enjoyed our visit. <3

Springhill is one of those places you can go to on a craving, on a whim, or on a regular weekly outing. They offer a buffet but I see no need, their regular portions are already so ample and generous theres little need. Their catfish is seasoned like grandma used to, always piping hot, and succulent (you can tell its not frozen!) Get it extra crispy for that classic southern crunch. Their seafood gumbo is pretty passably good, not the best Ive ever had but they dont skimp on the shrimp or fish, and it kicks on the way down. Their sides are not too salty, which can be a problem with southern diners and seafood restaurants especially. Their decor is laughably tacky, but, thats kind of the point, so no stars taken off for that! I love this place!

Fish was fine as usual but each time I order my peach cobbler, it get worse and worse. They gave me under half the container, when its usually full, and to top it off it was just a lot of hard overcooked crust. Ive NEVER tasted such terrible cobbler. They use to have the best. My husband told me to take it back but I refused and just called it DONE with that franchise! Ive had to return stuff multiple times, which they always improved and made it better but who has time for that, its a waste of TIME and GAS for me! Not worth it!
