One of my very favorite lunch buffets - go early! The line moves reasonably quickly at this incredibly delicious and unassuming spot, but it gets really long around 12, and by 12:15 youre pretty much guaranteed to be waiting on a table. Of course, the place doesnt open until 11:30, so that leaves about a half-hour window when its reasonably calm and you can just walk up to the buffet line. I appreciate that they keep all of the vegetarian options grouped together - it demystifies the whole buffet selection process and makes it so I dont have to spend two minutes poking at things in the bottom of the dish and wondering whats in it while people stack up behind me in line. Essentially, the buffet is in three sections: the first section is salad and chutneys, the second section is the meaty stuff (along with jasmine rice and veg pakora), and the third section is all vegetarian. They typically have about four unique vegetarian dishes; saag paneer (a pretty delicate, mild treatment - heavy on spinach flavor with big, creamy cubes of paneer), a standard curry with potatoes and chick peas (sometimes slightly overcooked so the potatoes fall apart, but always packed with delish), and then two other revolving dishes. Sometimes its perfectly cooked eggplant, sometimes its daal, sometimes its awesome veggie dumplings in yellow curry sauce, but its always wonderful. Also plenty of naan and some really terrific samosas. The naan is great - just barely too salty, but always light, fluffy, flavorful, and not at all greasy. Nothing is excessively spicy, so you can afford to be pretty fearless. (I wouldnt mind it being substantially spicier, but Im a weirdo.) You can probably ask them to crank up the spice if youre ordering off the dinner menu. The price is right, too - at $8.00 for the buffet, you can afford to come here often - or you can spring for a delightfully tart mango lassi if youre feeling sassy. The service is also terrific... until you want the check. It seems like every time I come here theyre 100% on the ball until Im ready to pay and leave and then its like they vanish. Maybe because Im usually leaving around the time that the place looks like its about to burst at the seams with people. :-) The interior isnt great, but the window into the kitchen is fun, so you can see them making the naan, and you really wont spend much time looking at the walls. Just be sure to get a bowl of their kick-ass rice pudding before you head out. The mango pudding is also great, but the fluorescent orange color is a little bit of a turn-off.

This is my account of my recent (12/24/09) visit to the Tandoor Restaurant. What I ordered: Hot chai tea Iced Chai tea Chicken Tikka Masala with rice Garlic Naan Khubali Naan First off I am a fan of Clay Pit in Addison, TX and I am not someone who is tolerant of super spicy food as well when it comes to Indian food the Chicken Tikka Masala is pretty much my standard order. The food itself was the perfect level of spicyness for me, that being mild but still with a very mild kick. If you like some extra fire in your food I am sure the chef can spice it up to your tastes. As for the entree the masala was a perfectly creamy, warm, and totally delicious. The chicken was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked! For naan dipping reasons I generally order my chicken tikka seperate from the masala when visiting a new restaurant for the first time. I have had some bad first time visit masala experiences at other establishments so I play it safe... So given my liking for the masala and the chicken tikka I took that brave step forward and mIxed the two. The result, sweet nirvana! Ahh so goood! As for the naan, it was warm and awesome with the chutney and the masala sauce. I really like the raisen and nut naan. The rice was very flavorful and blended well with the chicken tikka masala. The warm chai tea was very soothing and came across with warm earthy flavor (I had the one with out the milk if you decide to try it). Overall, a very pleasant dining experiece indeed. As for the two wait staff (a man and a woman) they were both courtious and attentive. Not once did I have to ask for a drink refill. With each visit they were friendly and asked how I was doing and if everything was ok. Pricing for me averaged out to a reasonable $15 a seat. Not bad for an enjoyable dining experience. I am glad I found a good Indian establishment so close to home.

This is so far the Best Indian food Ive had. Not only that the food is cooked fresh and hot the service is also great. The staff is very friendly as very attentive. The owner of the place was all smiles and very nice. We ordered Tandoori Chicken- served in a sizzling plate smoking hot. Very flavorful and very moist. You can taste all the spices in every bite. We enjoy eating it with the green sauce that they have. Chicken tikka masala- i enjoyed it both with garlic naan or basmati rice. The spice is just perfect. Lamb Biryani is always good. Specially with a drizzle of riata. Very flavorful with just a perfect spice. Im excited to go back to try other dishes on their menu.

We eat there pretty often and really like the food. I will say that I reserve "excellent" ratings for places that are truly outstanding. The food at Tandoor is consistently very good and sometimes excellent. We typically eat off the mid-day buffet which has the standard dishes, Chicken Tikka masala, a beef or goat dish, rice, and a couple of vegetarian dishes. Their food has plenty of flavor and isnt so hot that our friends to running for a pitcher of water. Even if you are there for the buffet dont be afraid to ask the server if you can have their garlic Naan. When we go to India my kids lament that the bread isnt as good as the bread in Tandoor.

First off, we had the nicest waitstaff, one guy was a bit shy, but still very sweet. We shared vegetable samosas and holy frack, they were AWESOME! Hubby had Tikka Marsala, I had Tandoori Chicken and they were both by far the best from any Indian restaurant we have eaten, and considering one of my best friends is from Indian, that is saying something. The Tandoori chicken was a wee bit salty, but I dont eat much salt, so it was probably fine for regular salt consumers. I recommend it, and the whole bill was only 32 bucks! Not bad for 2 apps and 2 entrees! We had enough left over to take home. Definitely going back!

We eat at the lunch buffet about once per week. At $7.50 per person (as of 2012), its on the low end of buffet prices but the food is consistently great and the service is better than it used to be. (If you had a bad experience with the dry older guy, hes been replaced with fresh faces.) The vegetable sides are varied daily and the samosas and naan are worth the visit, alone. Their prices for large catering orders are reasonable and you can order large quantities with only one days notice.

My husband and I LOVE eating here. Wouldnt eat Indian food anywhere else. The buffet is the best in town--wide variety of food to try and at a very reasonable price. We drive over from Oak Cliff to eat here. The Tikki Masala is awesome as is the naan, the Tandoori Chicken, the saag paneer, the samosas ... yum, yum, yum. And have always found the staff to be nice and efficient. One sign that its good Indian food is that its always filled with Indians! They should know, right? Dont miss this!
