We went late tonight (Saturday) at 9:30, about 1 1/2 hours before closing, so I suppose they might not have been at their best. The service was attentive and polite. The usual atmosphere was hard to determine because of the off hour. None of this matters, because weve had much better sushi from grocery store refrigerator cases. The appetizer we ordered (Black pepper crusted tuna tataki, i.e., pepper-crusted seared tuna with ponzu sauce) was fine, though the ponzu was more neutral and less tart than Im used to. The fish had the proper texture and taste. The presentation was attractive, with the fish arrayed over and around a central scoop of thinly sliced red onion that tasted like it had been soaked to tone down its sharpness. We also ordered inari (which was fine), and four rolls. The inari and one roll came out on one plate, and the remaining three rolls on a second; their presentation was fine but nothing special (i.e., a row for one roll, 2x3 clusters for the others, all pieces looking identical, all rolls with nori outside, no decoration on the plate except for the expected wasabi paste and some very, very pink ginger). The avocado roll was reasonable in texture and taste, though a couple pieces had that fish-thats-been-around-too-long hint of flavor to them, as if theyd sat next to something very fishy. That off-putting flavor was present much more strongly in the remaining three rolls (yellowtail, tuna, oshinko). It was especially off-putting with the oshinko (pickled daikon) because theres no fish to taste fishy. The fish itself seemed fine. The texture was proper--not chewy or rubbery--but the rolls as a whole were not good. I dont know if it was the rice, or the nori, or if the rolls had sat next to something else and picked up some off flavor. But whatever it was, the food was off enough that we wont be returning.

I have loved this place for two years. Everything they make is simply phenomenal. Dont let the location scare you! Theyre the best sushi not only in Nashville, but anywhere. Even coastal sushi has nothing on this stuff. The serving staff can be a little awkward with language, but they are always diligent with their service and work very hard to make you happy. Ive never once in two years been anything but impressed. Even my very finicky friends have loved this place (and they claim to not like sushi normally). The chefs prepare the sushi very artistically and create fun designs such as dragons, chinese symbols, or fish. If you become a regular customer, they treat you to free appetizers every time you come in. Weve enjoyed their incredibly delicious salmon salad appetizers for the last two years! When you look at the menu and see "8pcs" youd be inclined to think that you arent getting much. But these rolls are HUGE! In fact, theyre almost double the diameter of what I get down the road at the downtown sushi restaurant. I recommend the Capital, the Godzilla, the Spicy Maki Combination (for those bigger appetites), any roll they have that contains tobiko, and their white tuna Nigiri.

This is my husband and Is favorite sushi place in Nashville. Weve eaten at all the sushi places on Elliston, dabbled with sushi downtown, and still havent found a place that we love as much as LJs. Their sushi is fresh, fast, and incredibly affordable. One time, we got half the sushi for twice the price at Namas (over near Vanderbilt) and left wishing we had eaten at LJs instead. The staff is sincere and prompt, and they remember you if youre a neighborhood local. Wish I were eating a Dragon Roll and Egg Drop soup...right now! Cant say enough good things about this place. Also, dont be scared by the shopping center. Its in transition!

The only way to describe all the rolls I have had here is "perfect." They have been amazing in both taste and presentation. And yes, the restaraunt it does seem very, very clean which is a big deal when one is eating raw fish. It is somewhat expensive; the service is fine and friendly, but some of the waitresses have a little trouble with English (so dont assume they always understand what you are asking, have them repeat it back, etc.; theyve got a good attitude about that.) The wait can be a little long. But the food is so, so worth it.

I dont know if we got a bad batch given the reviews but it was awful. In fact so bad that i feel obliged to warn others. We ordered through postmates. We had egg rolls (very soso) and general tso and shrimp and tofu pad thai. The general tso was pretty tasteless and all fry and little chicken and the pad thai tasted like old seafood was cooked in ...bland with a hint of rotten shrimp. It was so bad we threw away the pad thai and the leftover general tso. Again other reviews are favorable so maybe just an off night?

Probably the freshest tasting sushi on the West Side of Nashville. AMAZINGLY sweet people inside too. Cant say enough about how much we enjoy supporting these wonderful people. Probably spent over $1,200 last year on this establishment ($24/week). ALL PICK UP ORDERS. With that many times ordering, we have only experienced one problem. Occasionally, the sweet woman who answers the phone and takes the orders forgets to include a small detail in our order like "no spicy mayo". WHICH IS A FIRST WORLD PROBLEM.

My wife and I have dined at this establishment on multiple occasions. The staff is friendly, and the selection of quality food is second to none. The portion sizes are quite large for traditional meals, and they also have a wide selection of reasonably priced sushi (both seafood and non-seafood varieties). The restaurant was never crowded on the nights we visited, so you should not have a wait. They also have carry-out if youre not feeling particularly social.

I have been going here every since it changed names and owners about 3 years ago. The quality and quantity of food you get is excellent. And the prices are very reasonable in the $10 range depending on the dish. Well worth the cost. And I love the staff and owners, no matter how busy it gets the service is quick, food is fast, and your glass is kept full.

Fujiyama is our favorite sushi place in Nashville! You pay for good sushi that is fresh and consistent...this place is no different. However, it is worth what you pay for and the lunch specials are actually a lot cheaper than the other two sushi places were used to frequent. We love the servers, the chef, and the very clean restaurant.

This is my favorite Asian restaurant in this area. So far I know it has Japanese, Chinese, Thai food. Maybe other cuisine I dont know yet. Decent price of under $10 (or more) for big portions of food. My favorite kind of thing. The sushi is amazing. All these good flavors put together. All the noodles is amazing too. Da dang

Got the 18 inch pepperoni and mushroom pizza. it was sloppy, extremely greasy, looked like fake cheese, dough was raw in some spots, had to re-cook, weird texture...the only saving grace to the pizza was that the sauce had a nice flavor. we could not finish it. will not order from this place again.

Just picked up food to go. It was a pretty light portion especially on meat, most of it was vegetables. Also, the description of the meal online mentioned baby corn, which wasnt in the dish. Flavor was okay, overall... I might visit this place again, but its not a top runner.
