coming to Nashville from the northwest, better yet going to any city outside of the northwest we tend to be skeptical of the beer we may or may not find. as an amateur beer snob and one who comes from Portland Oregon where a tap room, pub, or brewery exists on nearly every corner i came to downtown Nashville took a look at Broadway and thought i bet what i want to find is just a few blocks from this madhouse. sure enough a short walk away along what seemed to be an overlook side street stood out the vintage looking sign for the beer sellar! this place had the feel of back home and one that i thought i would never find outside of the northwest. the beer seller is located below the street level so you get that feel that you are in a cellar (or some sort of dungeon!) tons of brews and great people. if you are looking to beat the tourist, crowds, and sights of nashvegas (thats what the locals call Broadway) then take a risk and let you desire to drink great beer and meet amazing people bring you to the beer sellar!

Female brunette bartender was COMPLETELY rude on Thursday night. It was 2 for 1 drinks, I was not even half way through my 1st beer and she comes up and says "no, were good." And Wouldnt let me order a second drink. I understand people get cut off for reasons they should be but Im completely coherent as I type this message and dont understand how you allow someone to work there that acts that way. I worked in the restaurant business for 8 years and would have been fired if I treated a customer this way....especially when her eyes were more glazed over than mine. I also had friends say the same thing. There was absolutely NO reason for her to be rude when we were there to give your bar business and tip the staff. Ive lived in Nashville for years now and will make it a point to make sure friends/family no longer use this bar for business. I wish you only the best and hope you make better decisions when hiring your staff.!

I have been the the Beer Cellar numerous times throughout the years. Today I stopped in and witnessed something that will keep me from coming back. The staff is normally pretty good, but the bartender today was grossly disrespectful to a young lady that came in. A nicely dressed young woman came to the bar and inquired about her company doing karaoke at the Beer Cellar. The bartender told her in a very rude manner, "We dont do karaoke here and if youre not gonna buy a beer you need to get out of my bar". The young lady politely replied, "Thank you for your time" and left the bar. Some bartenders need to have a little more class, or perhaps attend a few more classes on how to speak to people with respect. I doubt I will ever return to the Beer Cellar. The entire attitude of the bartender made me uncomfortable and made me feel like I should go apologize to the young lady for the bartenders poor behavior.

The first time I went to the Beer Sellar it was a weeknight and not terribly busy. I waited a little longer that I should have for a drink at the bar- they seemed short staffed. I went again last night and while the bar was much more crowded -because of a free concert right down the street- the wait time for a drink was absolutely ridiculous. I waited 20 minutes with my elbows on the bar attempting to make eye contact with one of the 3 bartenders (who hardly ever looked up to acknowledge anyone). The people standing beside me actually left the bar because they were so upset with the service. When our friend went to close his tab- it took him 20 minutes-- this is standing AT the bar- not waiting behind other people to get up there. I will do my best to avoid this place on nights when there is even a small crowd.

I was in town for about an hour when i decided to find myself a place to watch the world cup. Being a complete beer snob i hold my beer bars to a high standard and The Beer Sellar impressed me in every way. Amazing diversity in the bottle and tap selections, very good prices ($12 for a six beer flight) incredible atmosphere, a interesting and diverse crowd (especially for 3pm on a weekday) nice gaming tables and jukebox and the staff was impeccable. The bartender knew her beer and the manager took the time to taalk about local breweries and unique points in his beer stock. I cant wait to go back and try the food. Ive never been to Nashville before and ive only been here one day but i have a feeling i will be spending alot of time at the Beer Sellar this week.

Im 50/50 about this place. For a place called the Beer Sellar, youd think they would have a much larger selection of beer. Their food, well its bar food, you cant expect much from it. Ive been twice, once around 7pm, and once later at night. You get that, hole-in-the wall feel, when its still early, but later hours Id avoid it. The type of customers are the ones that got kicked out of the bars on the more busy parts of Nashville. Best to make your own mind up, but I dont think Ill be back except for a beer before dark.

Dank underground smoking joint, but if youre in to that kinda thing go for it. Its dumb to go to a place known for beer and order food but the bartender said it was solid and I was hungry. He even came back and said "its good, right?"... Nah man, it sucks.. If a bar is gonna have 52 beers on draft they seriously need to wash their glasses in something other than the urinal because thats what mine smelled like... The Hopsecutioner IPA was alright but the gross smelling glass killed it.. I wont be back.

I remember going to the Beer Sellar many years ago and loving it. It was a kitschy place that allowed you to stick a signed dollar bill to the walls, joists, and posts with gum. No more. Not a dollar bill to be found. Additionally, after living in a number of smoke free cities, this was a shocking reminder of how awful a smoking bar is. On the positive side, the beer list was good, but certainly not good enough or unique enough to convince me to brave the cigarette smoke.

Started our trip in Nashville at this place and its a pretty good place to start! We are craft beer nerds and this place has a great selection of beers! Friendly bartender too but the food we tried is to be desirable, we had the pretzel and the cheese sauce was a bit cheap and the pretzel was chewy. Shame its a smoking bar but still feel like giving this 5 starts because of the whole experience

Ive been sampling the brews here for about 20 years. Always a great selection. Fair prices at happy hour, and good pool tables. The juke box is very cool. Service is sometimes slow when the place is packed, but that is always made up by meeting new cool locals and tourists. I always gravitate to this place when the crowds on 2nd Ave get to be to much.

My husband and I found the activity of Broadway too much to stomach, so we headed a street or two over and found this place as we approached the river. Great selection of beer and a super relaxed atmosphere. Some might call it a dive, but I would call it " approachable." Fair prices, hazy with cigarette smoke...Ill remember Nashville by this!
