I LOVE THIS PLACE...... My parents invited my sisters and brother 2 dinner. When we arrived I thought we would have 2 wait because it is 8 of us in my immediate family an the lady sat us as soon as we told her how many!!!! WOW.... Amazingly the place is huge but very very clean I love that 2!!!! Not to mention they have everything u could think of...... Fish (fried and baked), chicken (fried and baked), steak, pork chops, greens, yams, spaghetti,shrimp, meat loaf, bourbon chicken,mac & cheese, cabbage, neck bones, omg and u wouldnt believe they had bread pudding that taste just like my grandmothers butter roll ;:-)) my husband eats Chinese food and he said it was excellent!!!! Over all I am past satisfied and plan 2 go back as much as possible!!!!! Now do u see y I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

I go to Memphis often and by far this is the very best food I have came across. It tastes like home cooked food! Nothing on the buffet tasted less than perfect. I usually have to season my food and I didnt have to do a thing! I read other reviews and it is true it sucks showing your receipt to an armed guard, they have two hour limits on seating, you cant go outside without paying, there are more rules and regulations than I have ever seen at any other restaurant across the USA. If the food was not as good as it is I wouldnt go back, but as it stands I will never go to Memphis without hitting up chow time. After all where else can you get soul food and Chinese!

Of all the restaurants across this country Ive eaten, I have never before in my entire life ever been asked to show my receipt to an armed security officer in order to prove that I had, in fact, paid for my meal before being allowed to exit the building. Now, if the thought of that doesnt bother you, then this might be your place. What made the confrontation seem so utterly unnecessary is the fact that the security officer stands less than 10 feet away from the register at which you pay your bill. That incident alone completely ruined the experience. I will never set foot in that restaurant again nor will I ever recommend that restaurant to anyone.

The food was good but not $60 good!! especially with the horrible service. we sat down to tell the waitress our drinks and she took out ticket and proceeded to clean the other tables. After waiting a while we went to get food and while we were gone she took it upon herself to bring us all cokes!!! we drink water or sprite when we go out. So we sit down and wait for her to come by so we can tell her we want sprite but she basically ignores us and another server assists us. He was much more helpful. However the staff that busses are rude and just stand in the middle of the walkway, dont stop for any passing customers, or run into them altogether!

I was very impressed with the food and the service here. The selection of food was outstanding. My wife and I had excellent service and the place was clean and very inviting. I was worried about price after reading the reviews. We went there for lunch and the price was very reasonable for the quality and selection. This blew away every other buffet in the Memphis area. As for one reviewer saying that they didnt like the crowd that was attracted there, I have no idea what they meant unless they like their dining experiences non ethnically diverse. All in all it was a great experience and I will be singing their praises to other foodies.

I was told about Chow Time during Christmas 2007 holidays when a friend went there and brought back some peach cobbler. I visited for myself Saturday, February 9, 2008 and it was wonderful. The much anticipated peach cobbler was not the same (the crust changed) but everything else was fantastic. I especially liked the greens and hot water cornbread. It a buffet with lots of soul food choices, i.e., neck bones, hog maws, ham hocks, - you get the picture (and chinese) and the price was right. Two buffets and 2 drinks was $20.00.

We were driving back from Florida and stopped over in Memphis. We were hungry and tired and did not want to wait for dinner. The lady at our hotel recommend this place and are we glad she did. It was so good. My husband and daughters like Chinese and I like southern cooking. The best of both worlds. There was nothing that we tried that we did not like. Everything was clean and fresh and always being refilled. Do not pass up this dining experience, stop and have a wonderful meal

Love this place. Its a buffet and they have a variety of foods like Soul food, Chinese food, Mexican foods etc. All kinds of desserts like rice pudding, and peach cobbler. I dont know of any restaurant that serves rice pudding and hog maws except Chow Time. They also serve good healthy foods like salads and fruits. Know matter how busy they are theyre still able to keep up with the crowd so I say way to go Chow Time!!

not sure what the dress code is but I showed up Monday during lunch hours with a sleeveless shirt on and had no problems. people complaining about the security for whatever reason but it is Memphis... the service was great. the food is typical Chinese and typical southern and Id say 6 to 8 out of 10. some of it was really good some was meh. would come here again.

This establish wasnt a plesant experience for me. The host at the door stated there was a dress code in place. So i went to my car snd got a jacket the host says when i returned "now you dont look like a hoe". Manger called and was very apologetic but the host remained in place at and did the same to 3 other women. Poor customer service dont go there.

Theres no Chinese food, only southern food. The only thing that can be consider Chinese is sweet and sour chicken. The rest was southern food. Theres no sushi,crabs...food that you will find in a Chinese restaurant. The food was really cheap(not a good thing). For people who looking for Chinese food and decent atmosphere, I suggest elsewhere.

My family and I ate there last night. The soul food was great, seasoned thoroughly, my son also said that the Asian food was really good. It was eleven of us and we all enjoyed it, excellent service, our waiter was very nice and helpful. My husband and I live in Alexandria, LA and we will definitely be back. Everything was delicious!!!

Food was good, nothing to get excited about, but the service was HORRIBLE. Our server only refilled our drinks when we hunted her down, she snapped at my 12 year old cousin when inquiring about ketchup. Oh and then they charge you a 10% SERVICE CHARGE for a party of 5 or more, but we only had a party of 4 and they charged us.

I dont understand how a restaurant gets a 4 star rating when it has police at the entrance, signs saying park at your own risk, a series of video monitors of the parking lot on the entrance wall, and the poorest selection of Chinese food in the world! We are here for a conference but would not recommend this place to anyone!
