Located in Downtown Monrovia sits one of the most delicious Japanese Sushi place. They have an amazing happy hour selection, such as a tasting of appetizers with edamame, small mix of vegetable tempura and everyone gets a miso soup! My array of different vegetable rolls were just perfect. I know you must be laughing- Vegetable rolls?! Ive actually experienced terrible veggie roll before where you can easily tell the vegetables they used were old or not cook properly. This, the avocado was yum the vegetables were easy to chew and I finished in one setting, and order a second tempura veggie roll- which funny enough not many sushi restaurant even heard of this dish!! We were celebrating a birthday and typically places gives you a small mochi ice cream or a green tea ice cream scoop- not this place! Their generous portion of a big strawberry mochi ice cream with a small green tea mochi ice cream did not go unnoticed. Even though the paper umbrella caught on fire it was the most funniest thing! Great time Mikomi!

My wife and I got engaged here around New Years 2008. The owner is awesome and the Sushi Chefs are always the coolest. The food is great, sure, I can understand some of the complaints on service below, but you have to understand the economy and staffing correctly to actually stay in business. I would wait any amount of time to eat here than any other place in Monrovia or surrounding. They usually staff with two waitresses on busy nights plus three Sushi chefs and other help as well, you can also sit at the Sushi Bar which we always try to. We visit 4+ times per month, just there last night. Wednesday night, we were the only people in there at 5:30 PM, the crowd started rolling in as we were leaving, but plenty of open seating. Wife loves sauteed shishito, daughter (10) loves crunch rolls, I love it all - Miso Ramen, Philly Rolls, White Tuna Sashimi, Its all good. Plus, the setting right now at Christmas cant be beat. Right next door to Dollmakers, also awesome and the Movie theater.

Such extreme "horrible/absolutely inexusable" comments such as the one below tells you more about the reviewer more than anything else. If it was that horrifying, the place would have shut down years ago, rather than being jam-packed every weekend evening. Ive gone here almost every friday for the past year. The sushi is possibly the highest quality fish Ive had in this area. Only Bluefish in Montrose I would say is as good or better. I dont know if the average person can really taste the difference, but being a 20+ year sushi fanatic, in my opinion there is. I recommend sitting at the bar and asking for Justin. The food is presented very attractively. The cost is reasonable. They also have specials, such as a sea bass roll that I had for the first time recently; these are written on a board behind the bar. They can do better on one thing, the so-called waiting area is ridiculously small, appx 4 x 6 feet. Plan to wait outside weekend nights for a table.

Sad to say that i have to write a bad review because of bad and wrong advertisement. My wife and i went in the other day a little bit afte 8pm. She grabbed a busniess card and om the business card it advertises two different hours for happy hour. When she asked the waitress about happy hour the waitress, completely nice by the way, said happy hour was over at 6:30pm. We were surprised because the business cards that they have for guest says different and the waitress didnt even try to speak to a shift lead, supervisor or manager to see if anything could have been done. All the waitress said was this is an old card and we pointed and let her know we just got it from right there by the waiting area. The cards were not taken down at all. We did end up staying and ordering our food

I have had better Japanese foods else where. This joint is run by Koreans. So the authentic Japanese is out of the window. We tried a variety of items on the menu over the past year and found the foods to be acceptable but not great. The service is inconsistent: sometime good, the other time not so good, depending on the "mood" of the servers. As far as price goes, this restaurant is edging on the high side, but for most items, they are fairly competitive. The ambient, to me, wasnt very "inviting". Its a good place for a quick lunch if you dont have to impress your clients.

I am very food oriented--like to read about, talk about and eat good food. Ive traveled a lot and am a good cook. I eat at Mikomi about twice a month and believe it to be an excellent restaurant and - certainly - the best in Monrovia. I wont claim that Mikomi is the most attractive restaurant Ive eaten in or that it has the best service. But I dont think you will find fresher or more delicious raw fish or seafood in any other place.! A final question: why would anyone go to a sushi restaurant and order steak?

This is a very reasonably priced sushi place. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is kinda bland but... My only complain/advice is this: DO NOT GO ON A BUSY DAY. Especially Fridays during the towns Farmers Market. They dont know how to handle a lot of people. The service becomes horrible. Im talking about being seated and waiting half an hour to be able to order. Want more water? Good luck. Go for lunch instead. They have lunch specials.

This place makes no bones about regulars and playing favorites when it comes to service. Ours was pisspoor while the table next to us they doted on. Food is so-so. The tempura was greasy, the steak was grissely. We gave them a second chance and it was more of the same so we havent gone back nor will we ever.

Ive been coming here for a couple years and I cant get enough. Mikomi has made my obsession with sushi so much worse. Lol. The food is awesome just like the decor and service. Every time I crave sushi, I automatically think of Mikomi. Also, try their Plum Wine. It is delightful!

My husband and I would come here about twice a month for the last year, until they charged us 18% gratuity on a party of 5!! The service is just ok, we would always go here because it was close, but we wont be going back. The food is good, the service ok, and the price is ok.

The food was good and the waitress was very courteous and helpful. Our party was fairly large, but we still seemed to get orders in ok. Dont expect the ghost pepper roll to be super spicy, though - theres just a hint of it and it slowly creeps in.

I normally get chicken teriyaki lunch special, and thats good. I decided to try nigiri on the lunch special, you get 4 different pieces of fish, the yellowtail was fishy which tells me that its old.

Lots of variety and plenty of delicious flavors. The roll with the soft shell crab was served perfectly. Its a little dim inside, but I would certainly come back.

Great place. Sushi is fresh and portions are large. Prices are good for what you get. Teriyaki chicken is okay. Love the superman burrito. Happy hour is a gem.
