So…the owner (D.J. Naylor) of Celtic Crossing on Cooper St. threw me and my friends out of his restaurant a little while ago simply because I FOUND HAIR IN MY SALAD and he refused to make a new one. I brought this to our server’s attention (who by the way was very incompetent) and she snatched it out of my hand and returned to the kitchen. She then brought another plate out and said that they had re-plated it aka they put the SAME SALAD ON A DIFFERENT PLATE. By this time I’m completely done. After seeing that the salad was NOT remade, I handed it back to the server and asked for her to just take it off my check. I had lost my appetite and was content to sit and fellowship with my friends until they finished eating. A couple minutes later, the owner rushes to our table and in an accusatory voice says, “We had this same problem with y’all about 7 months ago. I’ve been here since Friday and we haven’t had a plate come back yet!” We were confused at first because we didn’t understand what the problem was, who he was, and was trying to figure out who “ya’ll” was. He was so rude and insulting, that it took a minute for it to register that this was actually happening. While we tried to explain the situation, he over talked us and then yelled at us and told us to “GET THE HELL OUT!” at no fault of ours in front of everyone! Mind you, we were THE ONLY TABLE OF BLACK PEOPLE AT THE RESTAURANT. He told us that they would cover the check and continually YELLED AND CURSED at us to leave. He then came out after we had walked away “apologizing” to the other (white) patrons for throwing us out. This is a restaurant that we eat at frequently and normally order the same thing with no problems, so we were regulars. I am LIVID about this experience and embarrassed that this happened to my friends and I. I’ve been a server. I know what goes on in the kitchen of restaurants. (My stories would shock you!) So I’m understanding and offer grace when I do go to restaurants. But none of that mattered. Our professional attire meant nothing. Our nice cars that we drove there meant nothing. Our accolades or accomplishments meant nothing. Nor the amount of degrees attained between us. All this racist owner saw was the color of our skin and pegged us as a bunch of black women looking for a free meal. We didn’t fit the demographic of his restaurant so he wanted us gone. My only regret is that I did not get a picture nor video footage of this incident, but it escalated so quickly and I was in complete shock. I almost never post statuses on here, but I had to share this because Im tired of instances like this. I will NEVER step foot in Celtic Crossing again and encourage others not to dine there as well. We have to STOP PATRONIZING BUSINESSES that treat customers this way. Black or white, what this owner did was wrong, humiliating, and insulting.

95% of the people who drink at Celtic are regulars. They have a huge beer selection, and great staff. the food is realy good too, anything from finger food to salads, steaks and burgers. Live bands from time to time and a DJ every night. Though the music has shifted more to rap and many of the patrons arent happy with it !!! We would love to hear more Irish rock or pop music than rap. None the less this is mine and my friends bar of choice in Memphis. Beal Street is over rated and you have to go all the way down town and pay for parking to get there and every bar has a cover charge not to mentiom the bums and drunks that try and mess with you and your girl. Celtic has no cover charge. and is in Mid town, plus it sits right in the middle of collage housing so young people love it ! If you wanna find a guy or a girl this is the place to be ! that and the place just has a realy good feeling to it, Like its a real Irish pub ! Give it a chance and youll love it !

I only ever come here for brunch on the weekend and cant ever not have Scotch eggs and the Irish omelette. Maybe I dont get out much but its the only place Ive ever seen with Magners I the drink menu. Come for the great patio. Even when its a little warm they have ceiling fans outside and extra to move the air around and they enclose it when its a little too cool. Theres also live Irish music Sundays 12:00-3:00. Even during peak time its generally not that bad. But when it is busy the service can get too slow and it also can affect quality in the kitchen but only enough to mention, not enough to worry about. That Ive seen, anyway. All in all its a great atmosphere and a wonderful way to enjoy some nice weather and company.

We discovered Celtic Crossing by accident one night about a year ago while out and about looking for dinner. We stopped in and the first thing we noticed was the atmosphere, it was great. I have never been to a place with such an authentic atmosphere. The food is great, and I would highly recommend the Fish N Chips, because they are the best I have ever had. Also, if you go on a Tuesday night, you get 2 for one Fish N Chips and appetizers are half off before 6pm.

I love the patio and Irish atmosphere. Im not a huge fan of Irish food, so the menu can be rather limited for me, but the items that I have had are very good. The renovated bathrooms have been a nice addition to the restaurant. Theyve added a changing table in the handicap stall, which is greatly appreciated. This is a great spot for anyone wanting to take a break from regular, Southern cuisine and/or looking for a nice patio.

Food was Ok, visited for St. Patricks parade, and wanted Bangers and Mash and Ive had better, but my daughters enjoyed their burgers and they were cooked as ordered:) They were extremely crowded as expected and we were sat on the rocks on the side of the building we felt like abandoned patrons:( The waitress did her best to take care of us, but she was swamped) I will have to visit when its less hectic.

Cute pub with nice beer, but they ruined the Shepherds Pie by putting spices in it. Apparently they needed that Memphis twist. Too bad, because we wanted something Celtic. Plus, there was no place to sit that did not include the blasting of questions over the loud speaker. Apparently everyone was playing some sort of game. Dont go if you want Celtic food in a pub-like atmosphere.

This is our regular pub; our choice for watching Memphis sports and international football and pub quiz on Wednesday is terrific. The owners treat you well as do the bartenders. The atmosphere is good. We bring customers here during the day and they love it. Great place to meet up with other expats and soccer fans. Memphis warmth with an a real pub feel; especially weekdays.

Finally made it here. The food is great. The bacon wrapped shrimp are amazing. The clam chowder is great as are the mussels. The fish and chips are only good. While the fries are fantastic, the fish is only good. Sadly it doesnt meet the standards set by everything else.
