We were looking forward to eating here and finally made it yesterday for lunch. The restaurant is beautiful...great atmosphere and there is a million dollar view from the deck. We asked to be seated outside and truly enjoyed being there. Now for the rest of the story...the food was completely mediocre and disappointing. We had the barbecue shrimp....which was not the traditional bbq shrimp you expect in the NOLA are. It wasnt even close. The shrimp were *very* small and the sauce was heavy and not well-seasoned at all. We also ordered the appetizer portion of crab stuffed mushrooms. For $8.50 we were served four small mushrooms...they were literally smaller than a 50-cent piece. They were truly one-bite wonders, but they tasted a bit better than the other items we ordered. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were also very small and had thin slivers cut from a slice of bacon around them. There were 5 of them for $10.95. I am certain not a full slice of bacon was used in preparation of all the shrimp. They were over cooked and dry. As a result, they were chewy...like leather. The The tiger sauce was hot but it had no flavor...just a bite. I have no doubt it was a commercially made sauce straight off the Sysco truck. A dinner salad was included with the bbq shrimp and we ordered an extra dinner salad. The bill was $48. Ridiculous. My daugher remarked when we left that we spent $50+ to buy an hours worth of a beautiful view and not much else. She couldnt have said it any better. Service was also very slow and lacked polish. It couldnt be blamed on a crowd as we ate at 2 p.m. and there were very few people there. I cant understand the 5 stars of other reviewers with regard to food. We wont go back.

Absolutely love this place and will always try to swing by when Im passing through. Everything from the atmosphere to the openess of the building, and of course the food and drink, has made me a true believer. The beer menu is vast and well priced - everything from mass produced miller lite to far away local beers like great raft. There is also a menu of beer mixes, which places it a step above other beer garden type restaurants in my opinion. The food is stellar to say the least. There are a lot of cajun staples on the menu, such as etouffe, gumbo, and po-boys, but theres also traditional bar food like burgers, wings, and sandwiches. What appears to be the big draw are the char broiled oysters, and they will not disappoint. You can order them normal, raw or chef special, and the ones I sampled were covered in spicy pepperjack cheese, jalapeño and bacon. SO GOOD! The only bad thing I could say is that a couple of the oyster meats were very small in relation to the rest - it appears that they reuse the shells, but I could be wrong. I also sampled the tigertown shrimp, and while I wouldnt normally be happy with the 4 bacon-wrapped shrimp for $10 price, it came on sort of bed of grilled sweet potato on top of french bread. It was worth every penny with how well the flavors melded together, but beware of you are not partial to sweet potatoes. Overall, great experience and would highly recommend visiting

Left a BAD taste in my mouth. My main complaint is the customer service. We called ahead for a party of 30. We were given a table set for 25. However, there was an extra table next to us, so we asked the waitress if we could use it as well. She initially said yes, but the manager very rudely came out to let us know that there are other people waiting to be seated, so we needed to move back to our original table. He didnt even offer more chairs to go around the table to make up for the five missing seats. At that point we had not ordered, so I wanted to leave. However, it was not party so I didnt say anything. We ordered. I had half stuffed shrimp, half fried shrimp. For $16.95, I was served 3 stuffed shrimp (which were stuffed with very soggy crab meat) and 4 fried shrimp. 5 minutes into eating, the waitress brought my check. She never asked if I was ordering dessert or a drink. I felt extremely rushed. Finally, when cleaning the table, she hit my 4 yr old in the head with a plate, which knocked a fork to the floor. She picked the fork up and walked away, never apologizing. When she came back and was told that she hit him (as if she didnt know) she said that he hit her hand and she refused to apologize. I was floored. I will NEVER go back.

I went with a group of 6, we chose the restaurant because, we had heard great things about it and was in the mood for something different. Ordered the shrimp and grits which was a dissapointment. Shrimp and grits is normally sauteed shrimp served in a bowl of grits. The shrimp on our salad still had the shell on parts of the shrimp. The bbq shrimp po-boy did not taste like southern bbq shrimp it also had that tangy sauce on it. Even the spinach dip contained spice. All of our dishes had the same tangy taste to it no dish had its own unique flavor as we had expected. Our appetizers came out than our food was served briefly after that, so we were unable to finish our appetizers. Once our food was brought out we did not see our waitress anymore for refills or anything else we would need. She did however manage to come drop off the check without asking if we wanted dessert and took a long time to come back probably 45 minutes later. The place is loud and not a place to go to if you are looking to have a relaxing dinner with friends. Overall experience Chimes is not a place I would revisit and not worth the hour and a half drive.

This was my first time eating here as the last time I tried (over a year ago) they were packed and I got skipped over and ignored at the hostess station, so we left. This time I went for a late lunch on Saturday at 2 p.m. After this experience, what I can say is that you come here for the beer and the view, not for the food. The beer list is big and varied, even just for whats on tap. The view out back is great with a stream and lots of ducks and goats to watch, plus you can take a walk on the boardwalk. Food however was mediocre. The seafood pasta left a lot to be desired - practically flavorless and the shrimp and crawfish tasted like they were frozen, not fresh. The shrimp were TINY. The shrimp in the soup were mushy but at least the soup had flavor. The service itself was ok and we were seated immediately, but it took nearly 30 minutes to bring out a poboy. The poboy was probably the best of the food we ordered. So, go for the beer and the view, but dont expect much from the food.

OMG!!!!! What an experience. Our daughter picked The Chimes for a meal prior to her and her husbands Marriage Vow service. I was really concerned about 17 people having to wait forever for a table, then for each part of the meal. By the end of the meal, we were all served our entrees at the same time. That hardly ever happens with a large group. We had our main server and then I dont know how many others kept filling empty glasses, clearing plates, etc. I asked to speak to a manager (Zane???? sorry, I forgot his name) and told him what a great job EVERYONE from the hostesses to the end of the meal. I will try and see my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren more often just so we can eat a The Chimes again and again. IT WAS INCREDIBBLE!!!!! Thank you for fine service. I even had to give our server a huge hug. I hope she didnt think I was some dirty old man. Well be back. PROMISE!!!!
