Worst restaurant and service I have ever experienced. No service courtesy. We ordered veg pakora and they served us with pakora made out of cucumber that was too like lying in the fridge from many days. They served exactly 10 pieces for a cost of $.5.5 which were not worth of it if you see the size. Another dish I ordered was Veg Thali. It was like you could not even feed to a kid with provided quantity. We ordered chapatis (roti) which they served by heating up in microwave and when really started to eat, it was like rubber. you could not even break it in pieces. They really need to learn for services and quantities to be provided and how to delight customer and how to be honest from American / Mexican and other restaurants. I am surprised how they could do business since 19 years with such a worst service?!?! Would never visit again and would not recommend anyone.

I have eaten Indian all over the country and rarely write reviews, but the food that I recently got at Swad was so exceptional, that I have to take the time to review. This little gem is easily the BEST INDIAN FOOD ON THE EAST COAST!! The menu is huge, I could eat there for a month and still not make it through the menu! All ingredients are fresh and handmade. The dosa my son got was beyond delicious, and you know how hard it can be to satisfy a teenager. Their knowledge of spices was off the hook. My Aloo Gobi was better than any Ive ever had....Their mango lassi has so much mango that its difficult to drink through a straw...no yogurt w/ light mango here! I will happily drive from Charleston to Greenville again just to eat their yummy food again. If you are a fan of authentic, homemade Indian food, Swad is just the BEST!!

This is a very nice vegetarian/vegan restaurant. I was surprised to see a full veg/vegan restaurant in south Carolina where couple of subways I visited didnt keep veg pattie because there was no sale. They have a vast menu so still have to go through a lot. Their grocery seems appropriate as many customers who come here are curious about the Indian food and how they can make it at home so it makes sense to keep some of the ingredients you use in your grocery.(note: lot of american folks come here and they are regulars) The owners are very friendly and have very good customer service. one example my sweet corns soup was very spicy (for me) so he made a new one for me . so I would recommend this restaurant to any body looking for veg/vegan food.

Unfortunately I cant rate the food because the lady was so rude in NOT greeting me when I came in that I was instantly turned off. She was sitting at a table prepping something out in the open(red flag 2). She only asked briskly "how many?" While looking me over. My observation of the cooking space beyond the counter was that it was DIRTY(red flag 3). I cant even imagine how food is served or prepared there. I must mention that I understand that have American standard for service (friendly) and I know that in some cultures a warm greeting is not to be expected. Regardless of that, I would not advise anyone to patronize this establishment.

I love indian food and I am a regular customer in SWAD. Today I insisted my friends to go to SWAD. We were greeted by an old lady who asked us our country, origin and religion. Then she smirked at us for not understanding hindi which i found very offensive. We asked her to wait 5 mins before we decide what to order but she was so restless and was forcing us to order quickly. To my shock she even asked my friend not to use cell phone. I am so emabarassed and disappointed with this treatment at SWAD. I am never coming back at SWAD and will not recommend any of my friends to go there.

My husband took me here for dinner recently. While my husband enjoyed his food for the most part, the food tasted like it was made the week before, and the restaurant staff were unwelcoming and continually stared at us while we were eating. Our waitress was rude and acted frustrated when we politely expressed to her that we needed more time to look at the menu. The basket they served naan in was very dirty and they covered with tin foil. It did not taste fresh at all. They even started cleaning the table while we were still sitting there. We will never go there again.

This restaurant is wonderful! The food is always new and different, and I have never had anything that I did not enjoy. The owners are a delightful couple who, with their son, run a top-notch restaurant that my husband and I go to at least once a week. I am vegan, and they go out of their way to make my food delicious and different, yet meet my dietary needs. If you want great food in a warm atmosphere with people who remember your name--make sure and go to Swad!!

Dont let the outside experience fool you. First, if youre looking for a formal dining experience, this is not the place for you. This is more like stepping off the street and being invited into the kitchen of an authentic Indian home. Ive never been disappointed with the food here. Literally everything Ive tasted has been delicious and if you order the daily special you cant go wrong! If you want a home cooked experience, this is the place for you.

Dont drink the water. Funny taste .... No wine or beer. Prices are reasonable. Potato pakora not very good. Onion pakora is quite good. Samosa are OK. Channa masala very good. Makhani dal very good. Basmati rice very good. Mild is somewhat spicy, but quite good and the medium is just right. Metal plates are army issue/camping quality. Could probably withstand a sandblast cleaning. Lacks any ambience. People are nice. Overall enjoyable.

Vegetarian Indian cuisine at its best. The Dosa(s) are perfect. A very unassuming place, but dont let that put you off, the food is great. The Tali (meal) is very good, and as in most places of this nature will vary from day to day. If you want things hotter then they make it (spice wise) then be aware that the chili they use is a bit sour and will over sour your dish. Just take it they way it comes and its delicious.

This place is amazing! I over eat every time we come because the food is all delicious. I couldnt pick a favorite but the samosas and double veggie cheeseburgers are the bomb. The owners are really nice and the atmosphere has lots of character. Its one of Greenvilles hidden treasures you could miss out on if youre not looking. Id give more stars but Google only allows 5!

Quaint little eatery / store with authentic, delicious, vegetarian Indian fare. The food was awesome, but the highlight was the owners. They were so kind and attentive to us the whole time we were there. Checking in on us frequently, offering us refills and they even gave our daughter a pack of cookies as a kind gesture. Top notch service!

Food was very delecious, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Could get more stars in terms of ambience and hospitality, its very small and cramped sitting area. When you are inside the store, you feel like you are inside a store. Waiting time for food is quite long. I found the host to be little unwelcoming.
