The food was good and the restaurant is beautiful, however thats where the positives end. My sister and I came in an hour before closing and were told to "hurry up and order because the kitchen is closing" before we even sat down. So we were ready to order and waiting for the waiter when he finally came around and took our order he was no more pleasant than he had been when seating us. Half way through our meal another family came in, an Indian family, and they were not rushed or treated rudely. The waiter was prompt and cordial with the other family. When he slapped our receipt on the table everything we had ordered was two dollars more than the menu price. We paid and boxed up our food. When the waiter returned with our change HE KICKED US OUT AT EXACTLY 10 when the other family was just getting their food. And when I say kicked us out, I mean our ride was not there we had just gotten our money back, and told very rudely that "we are closed you need to leave" while the other family enjoyed their meal. I was embarrassed and upset especially that we were the only patrons made to wait outside on the curb in the cold. I will never be coming back and will be going to Tamarind from now on.

I went to taj in the everning as I was craving for some indian food. The atmosphere was appropriate with good decor n some nice indian music in the background. That was the only good thing about this place. We ordered some appetizers n they gave use one samosa to share btw two people when we asked for a second one they delayed bringing it for about 30 min n they charged us extra $3.96 for the samosa. We ordered a goat curry n a lamb rogan josh this two meals tasted exactly the same, same meat n same source, the meat was served so spairingly we were given one portion of rice to share n that was not enough. The glasses used to serve water were greasy n had lipstick staines. The waiters were in such as hurry they were talking to use while walking away before u even finish your sentence. The only time they showed attention was when they brought the bill. I have had buffet lunch here in the past n it was good, I was abit dissapointed with dinner. I hope that if they could improve on somethings they have the potential of being a good indian reastaurant.

Abysmal service, nice look, food okay to quite good. I promise you, we had showered when we went there. Ten minutes until checked for drinks/apps, okay wait for food, then never, never visited by wait staff again. No refills on drinks except a sullen water boy. No "how is everything?" Wait staff absent from room most of the time, would not make eye contact or come over when they did zoom through. Salty lhassi very good. Butter chicken pretty good. Aloo gobi masala not full and rich enough in flavor. Gulab jamun not fresh tasting or flavorful. We had to wave and ask for to-go boxes and our bill. Yet, when we gave them our card, they brought it back in less than a minute. And then returned each minute, hovering several times, waiting for us to fill out the slip. They were very, very alert and present when it came to the money.

Worst place I have ever had food from... If I could give it negative stars I would... We asked for goat curry and they gave us lamb curry, when we questioned them about it the answer we got was " mam its goat curry, there is no bones because we only serve goat curry bones during our lunch buffet ". I honestly did not have a response for that... Also the curry had barely any flavor, we asked for spicy and all we could taste was turmeric and tomatoes... Will never go back there again... If you want good tasting Indian food please save yourself some money and go to other restaurants around the area like saffron, tamarind etc...

Despite the mixed reviews my friend and I decided to give this place a try. First, we had a bunch of long black hairs baked into our bread, it was absolutely disgusting and the waiter NEVER EVEN APOLOGIZED he just looked at it and walked away!!! When we finally got our food the portions were TINY and the plate of rice for us to "share" was barley enough for one person. Not to mention the food was completely bland and tasteless, by far the worst indian food I have ever had (and I love Indian). Entrees were WAY over priced ($15-$20) for the quality and quantity. NEVER GO HERE!!!! This place is a scam!

Went in at 800pm and was rushed to order food saying kitchen will be closing. Sign says they close at 1000pm. Service was horrible. Waiter was like he was forced to work there. Ask for anything extra and he gave attitude. Food was good but not spicy when we said extra spicy. Wife was here a month ago and everything was good. Dont know wat happen now. Try to order a dish to go at 855pm and was told kitchen was closed. When there were at least two table waiting for food. Never again at this place. Stay away. Pleanty of good indian food near by with great service.

Love this place! When I feel like having Indian food, Id patronize this place because the food is authentically prepared, taste authentic, and price is reasonable . Love their lunch buffet because of the varieties of food on different days and their soups as well. Love the fact that they have different soups each day. They tend to put out new dishes and thats great! Nice atmosphere , nice music & Not to forget, the owners are very friendly and courteous. Also nice decor in the dining area!

So far me and my husband tried 2 restaurants in Tampa after moving from London: this one and Anghiti. This restaurant has really nice authentic flavor and we ordered for pick-up: chicken tika masala, butter chicken that came complementary with pilau rice and we also added Bombay potatos and that came to $45 which I find very expensive!! considering that I used to eat all that for around $30 in London (after the currency conversion).

Went for the lunch buffet. Absolutely excellent. I havent been to many Indian places so am not able to directly compare, but everything was very flavorful. As many already mentioned the buttered chicken was amazing. I didnt realize until I had it, but its a type of curry and tastes great. The waiter during lunch was very friendly and thoroughly explained the items on the buffet. Will definitely be back!

Prices are too high compared to other Indian places bear this one. We only went there because our favorite Jai Ho is closed on Tuesdays. Although we were greeted and seated almost immediately, after looking at the menu it, prices were at least $4 higher AND there is a $5.00 charge for splitting a plate! What kind of mess is that? Charging me $5.00 because I cant eat an entire plate of food by myself....

Called in for catering. The guy said will call back. Three days later I called again...same thing..I have your number will call back....1 week gone, no one called back. Very very unprofessional. Then I called Mayuri Restaurant and it had the best food and service. The buffet at mayuri also has many more option and better taste then Taj and the staff is much better to. Will never go to Taj again
