If I could give this restaurant 0 stars, I would. In fact, I made a Yelp account just to review this restaurant. I went to Luxe in Providence with my husband and son a few weeks ago. Our waitress, Kim, was very sweet although she seemed nervous. The waitress who dropped off our food made sure we had enough condiments, which was a nice touch. The service staff was polite and I have no complaints about them. My complaints concern the manager, head chef, bartender, and office worker who was (for a short while) handling my complaint. 1. The manager on Saturday afternoon, a short girl with dark hair, yelled at the servers and bus boy all afternoon. She berated them in the servers area and in the kitchen, probably unaware that diners could hear her. It made our experience at Luxe very awkward, knowing how angry she was with their level of work. Frequently, she slammed dish racks of glassware on the counter and told the servers that if they didnt put in the effort, she and would just do everything herself. She proceeded to yell at the bus boy and kick him out of work. He was very nice to us so I didnt see the problem with his work. After she told him he was worthless and asked him to clock out, hee boxed up our food and put it in a bag, and changed out of his work shirt. 2. Then... The bartender argued with him, saying he would not let the bus boy order food. They seemed to be humiliating the bus boy, and sent him home from work. The bartender and manager joked that if he came back for his nighttime shift, they would fire him then and there. I cant believe the bus boy didnt quit, because between the bartender and manager, they were just incredibly rude to him. 3. The chef was very loud, and we could hear him swearing from our booth in the back. I was with my 5 year old son and do not approve of such language use in a family dining establishment. The chef seemed thoroughly disinterested with his job, and I was appalled by the fact that an "open" kitchen could allow their employees to act like that. He kept yelling at the employees in the kitchen. 4. I was corresponding with Natasha, a representative from Luxe, about my experience, but she did not respond to my complaint for 5 days now. I think that in situations like this, corrective measures must be taken. 5. I returned to Luxe last Tuesday evening when my son finished baseball practice. We were hoping to see Scott, the only manager we have never had a problem with. Instead, the manager was a young man who seemed to be about 18. He appeared to be high, and joked about going skiing (I dont know why people kept laughing), and spent most of the night in the back room. What kind of manager is that?? Take some pride in your restaurant. POINT BEING: Luxe is a good place if you can get over the blatant disrespect that everyone has for the lowly service staff and kitchen crew. Not a good place for families, as higher up management will swear at and argue with servers, and make references to drug use in the kitchen and servers area. I will not be returning to Luxe, and I encourage you all to ignore the promise of make your own burgers and instead go to a chain restaurant (Bar Louie or UNOs) where the management is trained to at LEAST be polite. Absolutely horrendous experience all around. As I told Natasha I would have returned to Luxe just so I didnt have to make a topping bar every time we had a BBQ night. It is not, however, worth saving the time and energy. Make a topping bar. Save yourself the stress.

First of all, the setting and atmosphere here are incredible. Every time I see it, I want to go back. The reason I do not, however, comes down pretty much to service. Nobody was rude, but a nearby table was given our order, and the mistake was noticed once they had opened up the burgers and picked through some of the fries. Once one of the other patrons realized they had the wrong thing, a busboy took the burgers straight from that table, over to ours. Then, they were taken back to the kitchen for five minutes and then just taken out to our table again without any improvement, and it took the other table complaining on our behalf for the service to realize they had made a mistake. When we finally got the replacement burgers, we had been given regular fries although I think we were still upcharged for the sweet potato variety. This seems to be a problem to me because you put your order on a card, so theres not really any chance they just forgot. Also, my root beer tasted like blood or rust or something. The burgers themselves were fairly priced, and the build your own burger menu was interesting at least. I paid extra for kobe beef, which... actually was pretty bland and unimpressive. Presentation was overdone. The small amount of fries you are given are served in a little cup. But they tasted good. Oddly, I found Ricks Roadhouse (same owners) to be pretty awesome.

Being from Swansea, I found this pretty hard to find as they are in the basement of a high rise building and the only sign for the restaurant is hidden by bushes. I am a vegetarian, they only give one option and that is a falafel burger.. I did not know what this was but I ordered it anyway.. didnt like it at all. So they need at least one more vegetarian option because not everyone has Indian taste buds! It is amazing to me that they supply Kobe beef, I was just surprised when i read that on the menu. I liked the Gorgonzola ball things, but theyd be better with mozzarella, honestly. Try the fatty melt, it is purely amazing. Sure 5 guys is cheaper, but they dont have as many options, whens the last time you saw gorgonzola on the menu there? sweet potato fries? cheesy bacon fries? There are limitless options at luxe. $40 is a small price to pay for what you get (and im not rich). What I know is, I ended up taking half of my enormous burger with me home to eat later and it lasted me 3 days, now thats a good burger. The waiter was also very cute :)
