Ive never been so disrespected in my life. We called for a reservation at 3pm, they said no problem come in at 10pm. We walked in the door and initially there was no problem, however then they looked at our children (who were very well behaved and have been to the restaurant before), and said oh Im sorry we cant seat you. First it was because the kitchen was backed up, then it was because they were winding down, then it was because they had no tables available. When we asked to speak to the manager, they told us he was too busy to speak to us. We had a reservation and were turned away with absolutely no concern. It was discriminatory and disgusting.

I ate at Cafe Zelda last night and had a great meal. We had the nori wrapped tuna appetizer, calamari appetizer, heirloom tomato caprese salad, and chicken-fried lobster. All of the dishes used high quality, fresh ingredients and were very good. The tuna appetizer came with soba noodles, but they did not taste quite right compared to the soba noodles Ive had before. The chicken-fried lobster was extremely delicious, but I wish it had a touch less breading. I would give Cafe Zelda a higher rating, but the service was lacking, the atmosphere dark and cramped, and prices high.

Last night was our third visit to Zeldas and every time weve walked away feeling that this is the best restaurant in Newport. My wife had the pork chops with mashed potatoes and I had the chicken breast with mac & cheese. Both were excellent and was just the right amount of food without feeling stuffed. I love their Mac & cheese - they use Parmesan and Gorgonzola which kicked it up a notch. The service was very good. If you like bistro or comfort food, Zeldas on Thames Street is the real deal.

A friend and I stumbled upon the restaurant while strolling in Newport this past weekend. It was early evening on Sunday so the place was quiet, unlike most of Newports restaurants, and we had a wonderful dinner. Were still talking about the quality of the food, the tasteful decor and the overall dining experience. Its truly a find and we will certainly stop by again the next time we are in town.

Great little restaurant in downtown Newport! The bar is slightly separated, so you can hold a conversation no problem with friends. The food was amazing, I had the steak, and it was perfectly cooked. Its a small restaurant, so if Newport is busy, it can fill up quickly. But great spot for dinner or drinks.

We were here for the second time, for lunch this time. First time was great, this time the service was slow, soup was cold and food was ok, but not great. Disappointed. Hope this is just for linch, because dinner last time was very good.

Exellent food. Try the foie gras creme brulé.... Delicious! Wish the steak tartare had a bit less capers and onions going on.... Overall great atmosphere, nice collection of people, and the food and service is consistently good.

i go for their half off entrees on mondays. steak frites is great. decor fitting. however, service in the dining room is below average: servers are rude and slow, both in summer and winter. i would suggest eating at the bar.

LOVE their Sunday Brunch.. also ask for their tall mimosas--served in a pint glass on the rocks :)) Try the chicken fried lobster.. a little pricey but totally worth the splurge! Half priced dinner specials on Mondays...

Food was delicious. Went in July and sat by the entrance around 9pm. Unfortunately, dining experience was negatively affected by a swarm of small flies.

After a very bad experience last night ( at a different place) this was excellent. I would definetly come back and recommend to anyone to try zeldas.

Had a fantastic dinner here the other night - every appetizer was fantastic, and the pork chop with littlenecks was glorious.

Best food in town, trust me. Mark is the best mixologist in the biz. Fresh look and new owners doing the place right.
