My favorite restaurant is the Gaslight in Boston, which is a sister restaurant to Aquataine, so I had very high hopes. We went to Easter brunch, making a reservation that morning. I was surprised that they had tables left, although the hostess told us we would "have to be out by 1pm for other guests." That should have been a clue as to how we would be treated at this meal. My boyfriend and I were seated next to a family of three, who seemed to have just arrived before us. Throughout the meal, our waitress seemed to make a point of giving them better service than us. At one point, she brought us our drinks (I had my menu on the table to indicate that I was ready to order), then moved to the family next to us, gave them their drinks, then proceeded to ask them what they wanted to order. Now, I understand that they were there before us, but then why not give them their drinks first, ask for their order, then give us the same service? Once we had ordered and recieved our meals, we noticed there was no pepper on the table. I happened to look over and see our waitress giving the family next to us fresh ground pepper...then walk right past us, never offering us the same. To top things off, when our waitress asked for the drinks two tables over, she told them a list of special cocktails being offered that day, including a berry mimosa...which I was never told about, even though I asked for a mimosa. The coffee was luke warm, no spoon to stir in cream with, and when we left, neither our waitress nor the hostess acknowledged us as we passed. Now, I understand that in some circumstances, sub-par service may occur due to inappropriate behavior or lack of decorum, but my boyfriend and I are in our late twenties, dressed nicely, and were very polite to the staff. While the food was ok, not quite as good as Gaslight, and the atmosphere was also pleasant, our brunch was brought down by the neglectful, and somewhat disrespectful service. I am bringing you my business, so I expect to be treated just as well as any other customer in the restaurant. We will definately not be returning.

AquiTaine Bar a Vin Bistrot (French Bistro) - Chestnut Hill, MA - 5/27/2015 One of the many things I love about the Boston area is its multitude of fine restaurants and this one is no exception! Beautifully decorated in natural tones... Dark woods...Mustard colored stucco walls... Fine prints perfectly hung... Large globe lamps and ceiling fans hang from the ceiling... If you like a bar, this place has a spectacular one... The French music in the background just oozes the sophisticated dining experience that would soon ensue... If youre like me, set the pace up front so that you can savor each course without feeling rushed... They are very accommodating and will honor your request... The first to arrive are the warm cheese puffs along with a French loaf... Just the right amount of warmth and house whipped butter. A bit cooler on the butter than I usually prefer but quite tasty and nicely served. I have a feeling my taste buds are in for something truly spectacular tonight! The bread...? Exquisite! Then onto the Salade Aquitaine with Haricots Verts, Bacon Lardons & Spring Onions dressed in a Truffle Vinaigrette! I had mine sans the fried egg on top... What a presentation... The mixed greens with the bacon cut to seemingly exact tolerance with wax and green beans purposely placed make this almost too good to eat...When I tell you that the amount of dressing on the salad was perfect, I do mean perfect... The main...Filet Mignon Au Poivre, Cognac Peppercorn Cream, Roasted Scallions, Pommes Gratin.. The Peppercorn Cream as only the French can do... The Filet was cooked to perfection... Pink Au Jus... Peppercorns neatly placed atop the beef... And to finish it... or me off..., The Pain Perdu for dessert... Crispy House Made Brioche... Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and maple Syrup... Ive not seen this on any other menu so naturally I had to try it! Add to that my signature Cappuccino and my dinner is complete... Truly an extraordinary dining experience that comes with my high recommendations... You will love it!

I live right across the street from Aquitaine, and I go there every Monday evening and Stefannia is working the bar and she is amazing! She is the reason I come back week, after week. She has my drink made before I am in in my seat. She is so kind to me and every other client. She remembers every little detail. She is such a sweet heart, and she makes my experience here a fabulous one. Aquitaine Chestnut Hill is very lucky to have someone like Stefannia on their staff! She is the reason I return week after week. (and it does help that the food is amazing as well!!!!)

We couldnt get a reservation for Gaslight, our first choice so we opted to try this sister restaurant in the suburbs. It was a quiet early Sunday brunch. Lots of open tables and spacious. I had the prix fixe omelette which is a great deal and was tasty. My partner had the mixed berry French toast which looked beautiful. The decor is "oversized, French bistro" which didnt work for me but it fit the menu. It seemed like a contradiction. The staff was efficient and pleasant. Exactly what I wanted on an early Sunday.

I am horrified!!! Three neighbors, we just spent $70.00 for breakfast saturday morning. We hadnt see each other for a long time. We finished our food and were RUSHED out the door. We were told they had a couple waiting 18 minutes for our table. Our table beside the kitchen. How rude, I will pass this around the neighborhood. Money its all about the money in this restaurant. Gross mistreatment!!! 70.00 did include tip.

I eat here about every 2 weeks and look forward to it very much! The staff is friendly, especially at the bar. The food is delicious! I recommend the tagliatelle with duck confit. The portions of some dishes, like the pumpkin ravioli, are very small for the price. Overall, food and service are great!

Nice ambiance and good food, but didnt live up to the hype or quite seem worth the cost. The mussels we had for appetizer were really good with lots of flavor. The salmon entree was good but nothing special, and same for the steak frites. Wouldnt go out of my way to go back.

Make a reservation before you go - place is popular on weekends. The Nutella French toast was heavenly (so soft on the inside!) The hot chocolate and chicken salad sandwich were great as well, as was the omelette with sapphron, onions and cheese. Highly recommend!

5 star rating is for Sunday brunch only. They have a prix fixe menu for $12 that comes with cinnamon bun, orange juice, coffee and a choice of meal. The service is excellent and the ambiance is great.

My wife and I had brunch here and it was really good. If youre in the area you should definitely try this place despite the strip mall location.
