Went on a cold Friday night in early November for a surprise date with my wife. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but to me that is secondary to the food. I am not the biggest Indian food fan, so Im certainly not an expert, but we enjoyed our meal immensely. We started with Coconut Soup and Paneer Pakora, they were both very good. The soup was just right amount for an appetizer. The Paneer was good too, with enough to share. (Though I ate 95% of it myself.) For our main course we had the Dal Makhni and the Navarathan Korma, both were very good, my preference went to the Dal Makhni - which I always enjoy. We enjoyed this with the Ginger and Honey Naan. We decided to try for dessert - the prices were inexpensive ($3-4/ea). We chose the Gulab Juman and Kheer. The Gulab was very sweet, very sweet. The nice part of this, for us anyway, was that the dessert portions were small, just enough for some sweetness after a filling meal. We would definitely go back, I would knock off one star for: 1.) we were never offered a drink menu and assumed they did not serve alcohol, 2.) service was spotty at the beginning, but came around by the time our main course came, 3.) ambiance could be a little bit nicer - but again it doesnt detract from the meal.

I havent eaten there in years, but I remember it being good so we ordered takeout around 7:30pm. They told us thirty minutes, and I sent my boyfriend and his brother. They arrive only to be told that there were no takeout orders. He walked out to call me and to make sure I called the right place (which I did). He walked back in to double check, where they then said that they found the order and that it was never put through, so instead of waiting even longer my boyfriend left. I dont know why they initially told him no takeout orders had been placed when obviously there had been. I called the restaurant during this time to inquire about the order, and was told if they wanted to wait 10 minutes they could have it done. We opted not to wait. By this time, it had been almost an hour since initially placing the order and we werent interested in giving them our business after all that. Its a shame, because I remember the food being good. The service during this experience however was definitely not good.

Excellent servie. Great Food. Awesome Prices.I came here with a few of my friends to have a dinner date after finding a Groupon for $22 for a $40 meal. Couldnt pass that up, so we gave it a try after never eating Indian Food before. Our tastes ranged from picky to adventurous, so we didnt quite know what to expect. We called for a reservation ahead of time and were seated upon our arrival. I believe because we reserved a table, the staff treated us to fried vegetables on the house. It was delicious and a good start to our meal. We each ordered a chicken dish as well as 2 orders of Naan. The dishes were all served in small bowls with rice on the side. This allowed us to eat everything more family style. Each of the dishes was delicious and had a variety of unique spices. I would certainly recommend this restaurant. The food was served quickly and was an overall great experience.

Maharaja is a nice variation to the usual food affair served up in the Narragansett pier area. I enjoy Indian cuisine from time to time & prefer to avoid the trip north to some of the more common destinations in the state. When I get a hankering for some fine Indian flare, I stay local & drop by Maharaja. This place is quite small & cozy, located in Aqua Blue hotel & next door to Oceanside at the Pier. These folks offer take out if you prefer to enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own home & if you like spicy food, then make sure to request it Indian hot. Stop by & tell them Scotty sent ya!

Tonight I ate here for the third in the last six weeks. I have been very pleased each time. We had the Vegetable Samosa appetizer, mixed nan platter, and coconut soup to start us off. Everything was delicious. We especially love the three dipping sauces for the breads...My favorite is the mint and Tamarind, and my husband loves the onion. Dinners chosen were Shrimp Curry and Kadhai Chicken; both outstanding! We had chai tea to drink; also perfect! Service was exemplary, as usual. We are so lucky to have this Indian restaurant in southern Rhode Island. We will be back!

This is the best Indian cuisine in Rhode Island. I am certain that this is true because Ive eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and grew up in Rhode Island. If you love Indian food, you will adore this place. If youve never had Indian cuisine, the part of your brain that processes taste will implode in a kaleidoscopic typhoon of deliciousness. If you dont like Indian cuisine, come to this place and watch yourself be like "damn, I like Indian food now. I just changed my mind." I guarantee it.

we visited this restaurant on 08/13/16. Food is very good in terms of quality and taste. Vegetarian Indian dishes are very tasty (Papad, Veg pakora,Paneer butter masala, malai kofta, garlic naan, vegetable biryani-spicy but tasty) Non vegetarian- i ordered only tandoori platter but its OK not much good but you can go for it. Staff received us very well and manager/owner there is very organized person. Overall its a nice experience and good taste.

I ate a meal there and liked it. I have one friend who says it is the best Indian food he has ever eaten; better than anything he has had in London, which has great Indian food. I have another friend who maintains this is the worst Indian restaurant ever and the food is terrible! So I had to try it. I had a good meal. Lunch and the place was very quiet with only one other table being used. I will go back.

This is the real deal. The food here is straight up delicious... Chicken Tikka (appetizer), Kadhai Chicken, and the garlic and cilantro naan are my personal favorites. But you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu- the chef is awesome. Loved it, definitely going back anytime I can. Well worth the drive from Providence.

Biriyani had too much masala.. I didnt feel a good taste of biriyani.. i have had Biriyani is many places, but this one was not too good and it is not a DUM biriyani. Even fish curry was ok ok only. Weve spent on avg $30 per person lunch is toooooo expensive... It is not worth having LUNCH here... Appetizers were good.

Large, delicious portions; a rich variety of vegetarian options. But the place is small, feels somewhat cramped, and there was not enough staff to deal with the large number of clients at dinner time. Expect to wait a while before being seated, before your order is taken, and before the food arrives.

We had been here looking at the reviews we saw. But the food was not good at all. If you are looking for authentic indian food, this is not they place to go. The staff was helpful and decent enough to attend the customers at regular intervals. But for the food quality, I wont vote for it.
