It is a decent restaurant with Vegetarian options in this area. The number of options has been reduced, may be based on feedback from customers. The quality of food and service has been consistent. The potion sizes is something you may have to watch out for, as some dishes have inconsistent potion sizes. We ordered the same dish for two people and got two different quantity Update: We visited this place again for weekend lunch buffet and the did offer the options differently. You get to sample the entire menu in smaller potions, which is a nice approach, but still gives you plenty to eat. The approach was good and the food was good, but not the best... For a person trying out Indian food, this is a way to get a sampler of different kinds.

I love the food here. Ive had Indian friends join me and it is split. Some say that it is very good, while others say that their wife/mother can do better. I find it to be quite good - not to the level of their "older sister" Thali, but good. All of the various breads there have had a good texture - fluffy when they are supposed to be, dense or crunchy when they arent - never soggy like some other places Ive been. Portions and selection are pretty good. My only complaint would be the service. It is typically quite slow. Sometimes getting the waitstaff to bring the bill (or pick it up) can take as long as the meal itself. If you havent been, this restaurant is a treat you should try right away.

Heard good things about the food here and was looking forward to giving it a try. We went on a lovely spring day around 2:00. Asked to be seated outside. No dice. Granted, this was late for lunch, but management should assume that people will want to sit outside on a nice day and tell their staff to buck up and deal. So, we went inside. Asked to be seated away from a speaker since the music was jarring (techno-ish something). No dice: "All the tables are near speakers..." The waiter did offer to turn the music down (a tiiiiny bit) but was clearly put out to do so. So we left. Too bad. The food smelled pretty good. Management, however, gets a ZERO.

Ive never written a review on a restaurant...ever! My meal was SO delicious that I felt compelled to write a review. I love Indian food; however, Im always overwhelmed when every option is vegetarian (Im a vegetarian and I usually only have a few choices on most menus). The server recommended Masala Onion Cheddar Paratha (amazing cheesy delicious flat bread) and Paneer Kurchan (I had them add veggies). There was such incredible flavor in each bite! OMG! I also had an Indian Spice Margarita at the bar while I waited for my food. It was incredible and it just so happened to put me in the very best of moods.

Okay, lets see, the good stuff: Taste-wise, I think the foods legit. It tastes like food I would expect in an Indian restaurant in India for the most part. Quantity is not bad either. I felt full after a meal here, which is fairly impressive. Its not too much, but it is sufficient. The bad stuff: What is up with the prices man? Honestly, Indian food should never cost that much! I get it - Im not in Mumbai, Im in New Haven, CT, but still I feel like the food is wayyy overpriced. Also, its all vegetarian. Did I mention that? Im fine with that, honestly, but if youre craving meat, Id avoid this place.

Thali too is perfect for people who love Indian food in an authentic way with a touch of modernness. The dosas, the parathas, the curries, the chats.. oh I can keep going on and on. its appropriately priced and the weekend brunch is easily one of the best deals in the entire city of new haven. their large mojitos, oh u gotta have a good tolerance to last thru that one. Dont forget to try their deans dosa.. u will be amazed. and the ambience and staff is awesome!! best Indian food in new haven If not America !

My 1st visit here, & I will stop in again sometime. The cucumber salad I so wanted to refresh me because it was a very warm day was not available, so I had the crispy okra salad. Bits of tomato & cilantro helped that have a cooling effect. The spicy vegetable wrap was really tasty & the veges were perfectly tender, not mushy at all. My server was attentive & polite. Im not vegetarian, but my meal was satisfying & other dishes I saw looked to be as well.

I usually visit this place with my family when Im in CT, and I used to have great experience with food. Ive tried several dishes, my favorite was chole bhature. I ordered the same last night and it was horrible. The curry was so sweet. And they jacked up the prices too! Total for 5 orders of chole was over $100!!! I know now to start looking for a new place. I promise you I will never be back to this restaurant!

I am a guy from north India who has explored variety of Indian cuisines. Worst food I ever had in my life and particularly in USA. The Chicken 65 is supposed to be spicy and it was without salt. I had to ask for some extra green chillies. Some of the chicken pieces were half cooked. The other item, Gobi Manchurian is supposed to be crispy but it was chewy. Never ever going visit them again.

The service is great, you feel like youre visiting an Indian friends home :) Theres excellent vegetarian cuisine, and an incredible staff. Sunday Brunch is unlimited small dishes for $15, and they encourage you to order as many as you want to try, and then some. Also...they have great decor and soft Hindi music playing in the background. Spectacular!

Service is horrible, had weekend brunch, got tired waiting while it wasnt too crowded that time, staff here looks like endangered species, feels like we have asked for home delivery while sitting in right there and food is not worth that much wait, realized, it was last visit of mine, for sure

Nice modern and cool restraunt. Good ambience and presentation. Different varieties of food. Everyone had their own ipads to select food. Every dish had its picture. We tried Masala dosa, pav bhaji, idli and kabab kathi roll. All were delicous and portion sizes were very good.

Ive been a vegetarian since I was 18, and I have to say that this was the worst vegetarian food I have ever eaten. I only tried one dish (which tasted like uncooked dough covered with oil and bitter herbs!), so I cant discuss the entire menu. I will probably not return.

I have been going to this place for many years.Last week my experience was so poor that I could not believe it. More ever i saw a rat running around in the restaurant and told the waiter also. I do not think I am going to this place for quite some time.

I tried this restaurant once since I enjoy Indian cuisine so very much. I found the prices were very high. I dont have a need to return again when there are so many excellent Indian restaurants in the New Haven area that are priced appropriately.

Really great Indian restaurant. The only reason I deducted a star is because of personal preferences in the sense that certain classical indian dishes they make I prefer cooked slightly differently. Great place though, would recommend!
