Indian cuisine is my all time favorite and I crave curry. India Palace is by far the best Indian restaurant in the New Haven area...heck I will go out on a limb and say all of CT. I have had the pleasure of eating from here (both dine in and take out) 3-4 times a month for the past 3 years. I have also made it my mission to try all the other NH area Indian restaurants and none of them even come close to the quality of India Palace. I lived in Boston/Cambridge area for 13 years and tried every Indian restaurant in a 15-mile radius, so I like to think I have a good idea of what (Americanized) North Indian cuisine should taste like. India Palace is right up there with my favorite Boston curry house, Punjab Cafe. What I love most about India Palace is that each dish is distinct in its flavor, not muddled like other restaurants in the area (where their curries, masala, and korma all taste the same and it doesnt matter what you order, they are interchangeable). Ive tried most of the dishes on the menu and the standouts to me are their saag paneer, chicken korma, anything vindaloo. But you cant go wrong with any of their curries. Their naan is perfectly charred and never greasy. I also love their pakoras and samosas. Vegetarian-friendly and they will accommodate vegans, you just need to ask. You can also order take out via 3 different websites and they offer several coupons/discounts when you place your order online.

First , the waitress had made a mistake mixing our order with another table, and when we told her , she just simply brought the dishes from the other table_which are already had been used by other people_ so its just like you have to eat after strange people. We told the manager , he exactly didnt do nothing. the second time i went with my friend at lunch time, and its a buffet, but my friend asked for the menu and as all of you know the prices are higher in the menu, but i decided to try the buffet, the manager was like crazy, he was yelling at us when he saw me giving something from my own plate to my friend saying he shouldnt try the buffet, he was very rude , and he didnt do it in private, he did it in front of everybody, I wish I can give ZERO stars for this place.

I live in the Old Lyme area. I drive past a well known Indian restaurant in Branford to go to India Palace. The masala chai is always perfect. Mango Lassi is sweet. What makes this place unique is the thicker-than-normal gravies. So many places dilute their gravies. The Butter Chicken (Makni?), CTM and Seekh Kebabs are amazing. The breads are perfect. Service is excellent. The pricing is great. And, as of spring 2007, the atmosphere has improved with a few renovations. Skip the well known tourist trap restaurants. This place is amazing. Quality is consistent. We visit monthly.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the service and food. We ordered chilly chicken and said it should be a indo Chinese and he said yes but when it was served it came out to be a chicken curry as sizzler. when i asked about it he simply said our restaurant chilly chicken is like this only. Pathetic taste and biryani was not at all good was more like a ;rice mixed in chicken curry.Food is expensive compared to other Indian restaurants in new heaven.

We have been coming to this restaurant for several years. The food is fantastic!!! The service is excellent and very friendly and the dishes are terrific across the board. My wife loves the Malai Kofta and Aloo Gobi. I always ask for their lamb and goat dishes. Recently they added chicken wings with an Indian twist - to die for!!! The decor is simple...but the food is worth the walk to Howe Street! Go there! You will not regret it.

Went there a couple times. The first time was excellent in everything, food, service and price is reasonable. The second time, my lamb dish was a little bit salty but still tasty and overall service is excellent. Lamb was tender, and the fish tasted so good and fresh. Yes, i would recommend this restaurant! To taste is to believe.

Dont be fooled by the unassuming decor. This food is as good as the high-tone rival across town at half the price. The service is extremely attentive and the food arrives steaming hot with a flourish. The Taj Mahal beer is my favorite to go with the lamb tika masala.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Connecticut, certainly New Haven. Their Saag Paneer is out of this world, rich and creamy spinach loaded with precisely the right number of cheese cubes - my yard-stick of a great Indian restaurant.

Horrible! ... Watered down curry and run of the mill food. Must be the first Indian restaurant I have seen with burnt gulabjamuns!! No wonder this place was empty during lunch time.... Avoid
