Prices were not too bad, and food was really, really filling. Mango lassies were absolutely amazing, worth the cost. Naan was mediocre, at best. Weve had far better naan, and have even made our own ... naan from ekta was very pancake-like instead of the typical slightly elastic texture. Basil naan didnt meet expectations atall (used dried basil?), though Aloo naan was not bad. We got an order of samosas, which were pretty good. The order came with 2 really large samosas, so 1 was more than enough for each person. We tried a little of the shrimp curry before we were too full to try anything else. Our order came with free rice pudding and more chutneys that we knew what to do with. Decent for the price, but maybe there are better places out there.

I ordered paneer tikka masala from this restaurant, and i got the delievery, and then i found that it was not paneer, it was chicken. I call back to the restaurant and told them, and they said they will send me the new paneer tikka masala, and it tooks them more than 1 hour and i called them back, and they said driver on his way, and just hang up, then after i was waiting, then i called back after another 30 minutes, and told them that i am about to leave from my work, so just send me tomorrow, and instead of giving my food they just hang up. They do not care for customer once they get the money, "so be careful, to not eating any meat" My order # 38686. Date: 04/23/10.

This was my second visit to this restaurant. First visit no issues - food was really good. However on my next visit I had a different experience - I found a small roach in the rice. I was disgusted and quickly returned to the restaurant to return the food and their roach. When I got there I showed them the container with the roach and the cooks circled around the container and one of them giggled. The counter person returned to us and asked us what did we want to do? We paused and waited a few seconds expecting an apology. Not once during our ordeal an employee apologized. No one cared about experience. I will never return to this restaurant.

I was not really impressed with Ekta. I went there assuming the food would be amazing based on the high rating on Yelp. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and some naan to go. Before you read, please note I search out authentic Indian food. The Masala did not seem to be as creamy as it should. Im not sure if they used yogurt instead of creamer in the recipe but something seemed off. The price points were in line with you except and the is easy to find in Fishtown. Parking can be difficult at evening but at least its free. Overall I was not too impressed with Ekta; Ill try out a few more places and see if I can find anything better.

Love Ekta so much. The only downside is that the prices seem higher whenever we go back but theyre not outrageous. Weve been eating at both locations for a few years now and never found any other restaurant that could compare. We have never once been disappointed with their food or service. Both locations are smaller in size so the best thing to do is reserve a table in advance bc it is a very popular place and there usually is a wait time around the dinner hours anyway. Cannot wait to come back even just for the chicken kabob appetizers. ...delicious!

Ekta has without a doubt some of the finest food in Philadelphia. Most of the Indian restaurants cannot even compare in terms of taste, service, and overall price. Since I am a vegetarian, this is a haven for me because they have an extensive vegetarian menu and it all tastes delicious! Their samosas are outstanding and their naan is awesome with their Navaratna Curry! They just opened a dining room next door to their kitchen/ waiting room. Please check out Ekta.... well worth anyones time!

We got samosa chaat, garlic naan with two sides - paneer kadai and bindi masala, & veg biryani. The food was okay, nothing to excite your palate. Samosa chaat didnt have the samosa and it was cold. Who eats samosa chaat cold or without a samosa? Veg biryani had cucumbers. Cucumbers! Definitely not the flavor profile we were looking for. They mightve been good at one point, judging by the previous reviews (I mean, thats why we chose to dine here), however its not a place wed go to again.

DISGUSTING!!!! Found a small roach* We ordered take out for the first time, after hearing that the food was good. After almost completing our first container of white rice, we discovered a live roach at the bottom of the container. We returned the food to the restaurant to find the employees thought it was amusing, they laughed. We requested our money back, gave them their food promising never to return.

Wow, I havent had Indian food like this since my mother used to make it for me as a child. Chef Raju Bhattarai runs an immaculate kitchen, serving up fine creamy kofta and tangy tandoori. At Ekta, you dont get lunch and dinner buffets, quiet dining and a waitstaff - no this is cut-to-the-chase take-out restaurant where the quality (and quantity!) of food is paramount. Go eat there.

Ive been a long time Ekta fan, but its getting harder and harder to justify ordering from this place. Each time prices go up a dollar here...a quarter there. The food is good, but for a pint of food at $10 or more...plenty of Indian buffets at that price point. Watch out for big stems of fresh bay leaf that they opt not to take out. Disastrous bite! What am I paying for again?

BE AWARE!!! The ponytail cook was picking his nose while making naan bread. It was disgusting. They dont care about Customers health. I was about to vomit. I complaint to the manager and he told me that I was lying. He was mentally sick and almost about to attack me. I was like WOW. What the hell is going on. A note to health inspectors: Make America Great Again!!!

Flavorful. Very good. Sat and Sun they have a champagne brunch. But you have to ask for it.... they have signs but its not offered. Service was slow getting to your table but to be fair we did go on Jan 1st and it was crowded. I will have to go again to see if I can up the review on service but the food....... was really good. I would go back for sure.

After reading the reviews for this place I expected a lot better. While the restaurant was nice and the service was good, I hate to say the food was a little overrated. While Ive been to many restaurants, I can honestly say Ive had better. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was not bad, but I would not recommend the Paneer Tikka Masala or the Chicken Biryani.

Ordered takeout from here and was disappointed. We ordered two entrees and naan bread and the total came to ~$40, which wouldnt have been unreasonable, except my portion of food was definitely not worth the $18 it cost and for $3 you only received only piece of naan.

Theyre a bit pricey, customer service could use some work. But theyre the best indian food in philly. They dont compromise on the spices and it shows in the intensity of flavor. Other indian places taste watered down after you have anything from here.
