Absolutely fabulous dinning experience! Take a bite into a savory dosa (prepared over 12 hours for the right fermentation) and it becomes clear this restaurant goes a step beyond in presenting authentic and delectable Indian food. A long time fan of Southeast Asian fare, I was impressed with how each item on the menu, each side and cocktail truly earned its right to be on the table. Even the side of rice that accompanies the entrees is carefully prepared with coconut milk (as one who has never cared for white rice, I couldn’t get over how tasty it was). The food is also absolutely beautiful to look at; top-notch preparation. The ambiance is trendy yet still casual, and I felt very comfortable in their plush booths. We had a great server, and check-ins from the management- a lovely touch. Started the evening with Seared Scallops and Podi Idly (found on their seasonal menu). The scallops were delicious - warm and crispy with an accompanying roasted pepper chutney that offered a satisfying heat. I liked that they were sustainably sourced. My only complaint was that the dish’s lotus chips were very tough, and seemed like more of a decoration than a part of the dish. I highly recommend the Podi Idly, as it is savory treat, rarely seen on local Indian restaurant’s menus (trust me, I eat a lot of Indian food). The unique lentil button cakes are steamed to perfection and severed with a phenomenal, spicy gun powder sauce, that my dining companion and I used with other dishes as well. For our entrees we had the Chicken Chettinadu and the Masala Dosa. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous sizes, the little extras (like the creamy coconut rice and the many dosa dipping sauces) and the balanced spices weaving a rich, complex heat never became overwhelming. Both dishes were very good, but if you could only order one entree, I would say: try the Dosas, a hearty, crepe-like wrap, that is pulled apart and dipped in various chutneys. They are proof that the BlueFox takes no short cuts as the preparation includes a 12 hour period were the batter is allowed to ferment just like sour dough bread. The arduous preparation pays off, as the finished product is piquant, crispy and melt-in-your mouth delicate. Drink-wise, I would recommend the Bombay Bootleg. Made with Tattersall Gin, Mint-Garam Masala Nectar, and a lime juice Habanero Tincture, it is complex drink that manages to hit that hard-to-find place were a richly spiced drink is also refreshing. If spicy drinks aren’t your thing, the MN 75 is a sweet alternative, (ask your bartender to add a little ginger for a little kick). We finished the evening with the Yellow Beet Helado, a cool desert with vanilla ice cream, raisins and a beet halwa reduction that is as tasty as it is unusual. It was the best meal I’ve had in a long while. I will undoubtedly be back. And I will be brining friends.

Most of all, the service was not good. It really seemed like they dont assign tables or something. After being seated we waited more than 15 minutes to be acknowledged in any way. We finally got our order taken. After that another waiter then asked if we had had our orders taken. The same pattern happened to the table next to us. It was weird. We were seated in a very cramped booth in an enclave which was too dark and un-decorated... the lack of decor called attention to the bad paint job of the walls. Normally this isnt something I would mention.. but they are clearly trying to bill themselves as a higher end trendy restaurant. At least thats what the prices would suggest. But the attention to detail in the decor and the flimsy torn menus hindered that image. The food itself redeems the experience a little. We ordered the classic dosa which was delicious. Our entrees were good too but nothing really special. They served them with rice and some depressing pre packaged naan that they didnt bother to warm up. The end of the story is I wouldnt return or recommend it to my friends. But if you happen to be at West End and craving Indian food and have some money to burn, well... it was alright. At least their dosas are good.

Lunch at Blue Fox was a major let down. Four of us went to lunch, and not one liked it. Three of us got the lunch combos, and another got the Uthappam. With the tip it cost $15+ each. Chapathi was dry, hard and didnt seem fresh. Blue Fox Chicken had no flavor at all, and Im not talking about just the spice levels here. Chicken appetizer (Chicken 65?) was semi-decent, but its deep-fried so how bad can you screw it up? The chicken soup is semi-decent. We asked for salad dressing and were told that it was already tossed with dressing. I really didnt find any (at least noticeable) on mine. The lone bright spot is the layout and décor which is pretty good especially for an Indian restaurant around here. I will give it anther chance or two. Maybe dinner time with drinks will be better?

We went as a double date, so there were 4 of us. We got 2 sets of silverware for the whole meal....are my husband and I one person? My husband got his meal, then 10 minutes later, my friend got my meal, started eating it, before they told her it was not her garden curry, but my coconut prawn. 30 minutes later, we got my other friends meal, after we asked for it. I might have had another glass of wine, if the server had ever asked. When my girlfriend and I asked for boxes to take home, they gave us one box. We talked to a manager, but our server was very inattentive, and we wont be back. The food was delicious though, which is the only reason this review is 2 stars

Be prepared for extremely slow and rude service. We had a table of 12 and only half of our dinners received their meals. It took more than 45minutes for the other half of our dinners to receive their meals. We wondered if the chefs had to go and slaughter the lamb and chicken themselves. On the other hand, all of our dinners liked their meals. Unfortunately, its not worth the making a trip there. Your better off going to India Palace because all of your dinners will be served within reasonable time of each other. The closest India Palace is at 2546 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN, 55405.

I like Indian food and try to eat it while traveling. I really like traditional dishes so I read many reviews and thought BlueFix could be hit or miss but I tried it and actually thought this style was better. Flavors were great the space was nice and actually like the feel better than "Taste of Indian". Had the Chutney Sampler, calamari, chicken biryani, egg porijal. All were great tasting. I think the dish prices were higher than other places but the dishes were good and we will go back here soon.

Racists ... I am a delivery driver ... and cook professionally ... the establishment was empty ... I had only 1 item to pick up ... waited over 35 minutes ... and got to listen to the bartender and host laugh and joke about it while the customers that walked in after me got served food within half the time ... The managements excuse was its not fast food ... So if you like to support racist enjoy otherwise tell them to stick it ... I did
