HORRIBLE FOOD AND EVEN WORSE SERVICE! Lets start with the fact that when I walked in I was told that the specials were half off appetizers margaritas. I decided to order a margarita, which I have to say was great. I also got cheese dip, which although runny, did not taste bad. I ordered from the vegetarian menu for my main course, which I guess means I only eat cheese wrapped up different ways and drowned in bland, most likely canned sauce. My friend ordered the chicken taco salad, which was basically boiled chicken over lettuce. However, her tortilla bowl the salad was in was nice and crispy. Lets note that the booth behind us started raining from the ceiling. I watched several servers walk by and do nothing. I finally told my server and he put buckets around without even mopping up the existing puddle. Apon receiving the check I was told, unapologetically, that the server was mistaken and nachos were actually what was half off and I received no discount. I also had a coupon, which after much arguing I noticed that THE COUPON WAS PRINTED OFF AFTER IT SUPPOSEDLY EXPIRED, therefore it was never possible to redeem it. My check was $32 and when split between me and my friend we got our statements to sign back as $20 each...do the math (we were charged extra from the check). I asked to speak with a manager based on everything. it took 35 minutes to finally get a manager, who wanted to argue and refuse to be reasonable. After $40 minutes of ridiculousness. I decided not to sign and refuse to pay. The restaurant ended up charging me $20, without my authorization (more than I even ordered). I plan on desputing this.

Terrible Service. The server took ten minutes to ask us for our drink order (he was waiting on only two other tables when we got there...it was totally dead) and we were afraid hed never come back so we ordered food at the same time. He had a bit of an attitude to begin with (maybe it was a long day?) but then when our food came out and I almost swallowed a CHICKEN BONE I found in my enchilada, it displeased me even more that he didnt seem surprised when I showed it to him. He acted like it was normal and asked (with attitude) what he "was supposed" to do about it.... Idk but would YOU like a 2" chicken bone in YOUR enchilada? I couldve choked or had it cut my mouth or throat and he really didnt seem that concerned...obviously the food was fresh but thats just unreasonable to serve to any person in ANY restaurant. I honestly feel that not paying for the meal was the least they could do especially since I had already figured out that they dont pay that much attention to whats in their food so I still cant seem to figure out why the waiter was shocked when I told him I didnt want him to bring me out another meal.. why would I want anything else brought out if the chicken isnt clean? The food wasnt bad but it didnt have much flavor. Ive been to a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants and each one is a little different but their food was definitely lacking spices or cilantro or something, and their salsa looked and tasted like tomato sauce with little jalapeno pepper seeds in it...Overall, I WONT be back.

I grew up in Houston where Mexican food was just part of the culture. My family had several favorite Mexican food restaurants, and we ate it often. When I moved to Pittsburgh I initially thought finding good Mexican food would be a problem. However my concerns were alleviated once I discovered El Campesino in Monroeville. Their food hits all the right buttons for Tex-pats like me. To start, their chips are salsa are very tasty. I truly feel that the salsa at El Campesino hits exactly the right level of spicy, without crossing the line into so-hot-I-have-to-gulp-it-quickly-in-order-to-prevent-tears-from-flowing-from-my-eyes. And I also recommend the "bean dip" which is basically white queso with a dollop of refritos in it. So delicious. As for entrees, Im fond of their fajitas, and I specifically recommend the Grilled Cazuelada, which is basically Fajitas-on-steroids. With beef, chicken, shrimp and chorizo it is a dinner that will make two or three people leave feeling full and happy. Finally, have a house margarita. Not a small one either. The medium or large are just fine with the right amount of sweet versus tart. Get it on the rocks, with salt. Overall a great restaurant, with authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex food!

We tried this restaurant based on the high ratings in search of a good mexican restuarant in Pittsburgh. Big mistake!, 4.0/5 stars??!! Very very poor quality Mexican food. I have lived in Albuquerque, NM; Houston, and southern california. This food does not come close to great authentic mexican food. It is probably ordered bulk and microwaved. I have never before ordered a chile relleno and had so search for the chile. If that sounds entertaining, then try this restaurant. The most authentic mexican restaurant I have found in Pittsburgh thus far is Azul Bar y Cantina in Leetsburgh. The owners are from San Diego. It may be a longer drive, but it is well worth it if you want true mexican, otherwise go to chipotle. Pros: Salsa 2.5/5, unsalted chips, New restaurant location may have better atmosphere. Cons: Food 0.0/5

Many of my co-workers seem to like this place. Ive been here before and did not care for it. I went again for a work lunch and ordered the Quesadilla Rojo that was a lunch special for the day. Not impressed. Basically a 6-inch tortilla folded in half with odd-tasting ground beef and a sprinkle of cheese. You get some Mexican rice and shredded lettuce with it. At $9 + tip for a lunch special, it was hardly a bargain. And everyone elses meal seems to look the same no matter what you order (presentation is poor and food looks like slop on your plate). Moes or Chipotle is better quality and a larger portion size for an equivalent price.

Went there friday evening for dinner. Sat on the bar side wich was empty except for a few people. Took 15 minutes for the bartender to come over to take our drink order because she was too busy flirting with 2 males sitting at the bar. Our food order was messed up twice and took well over an hour. Took even longee to wait for drink refills and the check because the bartenders "best friend" came and sat at the bar and she was too busy talking and waiting on her friend. I suggest you retrain your bartenders....ive been in the restaurant business for 15 years and she was by far one of the worst unnattentive bartenders ive ever encountered

Been going for 20 years. But this was the last time. The food was terrible. Over 12 dollars for burrito campesino and it was less than half the size it normally is. Wife had a chicken enchilada that came with brown beef gravy and had no cheese. Who serves beef gravy with chicken? Service was slow and the place was not busy. No real enchilada sauce to be seen. Not even a splash of guacamole on anything... Such bad quality and quantity. We will visit this location again. Stefan Rodriguez.

I came here tonight because I was craving chili rellenos. Ive eaten here before and have never been dissapointed. But then, Ive never ordered the rellenos. What came out of the kitchen appeared to be a 1/2 of bell pepper sliced open and topped with ground beef and a bit of cheese. Ive never seen rellenos like that and it certainly didnt satisfy my craving. Thankfully, the rest of the meal was a expected and I will leave full. Ill have to find my chili rellenos elsewhere.
