Mexican dining in Greensboro is largely a series of trade-offs. Some establishments can make a mean taco (El Azteca), but lack ambience while others offer plenty of seating and variety (El Mariachi), but don’t always guarantee a good meal. Of all the local Mexican restaurants I’ve been to (six at last count), Kiosco comes the closest to offering the total package. First, the food: the menu isn’t quite as stacked at El Mariachi’s, but it’s still plenty expansive in its own right. There are scores of specials for the lunch crowd, but those coming for dinner will still find plenty, from classic carnitas to sizzling steak fajitas and a few things you can’t find elsewhere. Ever want the contents of a burrito Texano tossed together, minus the burrito, and topped with cheese? They have that here, and they do it well: the A.C.P. Texano is well-seasoned and not too dry. Full-sized and half-sized options ensure the right fit for every appetite. The food would be a draw in and of itself, but the service at Kiosco is spectacular. Servers are friendly, abundant, and lightning-quick. You won’t be sitting for more than a minute before someone takes your drink order, and that glass won’t remain empty for long unless you want it to be. Both the chips (complimentary with salsa, as they should be) and the check were delivered promptly and amicably. Kiosco isn’t a large place, but the seating capacity is deceptive. Though the booths are few, the long table and the bar seat many. Outdoor seating in nicer weather further increases the capacity. Kiosco’s interior is as dark, calm and tastefully subdued as Mexico Restaurant’s is garishly colorful. A few TVs add appeal for sports fans. One would expect to overpay for all these intangibles, but Kiosco manages to keep it reasonable. If you stick with the half-size on an entrée (adequate for a non-famished party of one), you can feed yourself for under $10. Nothing here is a steal, but the quality justifies the price. Cheaper and gaudier/more fun Mexican restaurants exist, but Kiosco offers the best blend of food, service, and value. Until another establishment decides to step up its game, Kiosco gets my vote for Greensboro’s finest.

Kiosco is the best new Mexican restaurant Ive visited in a long time-- excellent food, service, and a great atmosphere! Ive been at least once a week since the place opened, and I could easily eat there several times a week! Me and my friends have all become such big fans of the place that we have moved our weekly Twitter Taco Tuesday meetup event there! Every Tuesday night we meet at Kiosko for socializing... and, of course, great food and drinks! As for the food, you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. On several visits, Ive had the Enchiladas Rancheras de Carnitas, whicih is heaven on a plate! Two cheese enchiladas topped with grilled pork, bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes... my mouth is watering right now! Ive also had their chimichangas, which are out of this world! The sopa de pollo (chicken soup) and chili relleños are also two of my favorites. Delicious drinks are plentiful at Kiosko, too! Try the 32oz Dos Equis Amber-- oh my... only $3.50! Also, the Texas Margaritas are fantastic! If you dont like those two choices, they have a full bar. The restaurants decor is more upper scale compared to other Mexican restaurants in this area. A local painter, Chip Holton, was hired to paint a Mexican scene mural on the wall of the restaurants foyer, and his work is breathtaking. There are a couple of large-sized dining rooms in the establishment as well as an large outside seating area. The restaurant also has a big bar area with large flat-screen TVs-- great to catch the latest soccer game on! Oh, and one last thing-- if youre in a big group (or its your first trip there), you arent just given the typical chips and salsa treatment, but youre also given queso (cheese) dip AND guacamole as well-- all delicious I must say! They pull out all the stops at Kiosko. Not only do they do what they do well, but the go out of their way to give the customer an experience they wont forget.

Typically, every other week, my boss and I journey out to lunch after our status meeting. One of our favorites is mexican, and after the demise of several of our favorites, we decided to give Kiosco a chance. Well, we have found our new favorite mexican place in Greensboro! The food was fresh, and the service was excellent. There seems to have been a lot of thought put into the remodeling of the old Hugos, and the outside patio is a nice touch. Mr. Ruiz (the owner) often floats round the restaurant, greeting customers, and making sure everything is to their satisfaction. This is one place that seems to be going the extra mile to keep your business. One more thing of note; while Kiosco has the standard fare of burritos, tacos, and fajitas, the menu is quite varied and contains so much more than what I call cookie cutter mexican. They have many dishes that you will not find anywhere else, and will customize anything for you. They will even customize their guacamole for you! Give this new restaurant a try. They deserve it.

We live in Raleigh and came to Greensboro for a concert. I searched ahead of time where we were going to eat and stumbled upon Kiosco because it had recieved so many great reviews. We were skeptical because we have yet to find even good, let alone great mexican food here in Raleigh, but we gave it a try anyway. We were NOT disappointed and it lived up to every single 5 star review. The staff was so friendly and prompt with service. The food was amazing, and I KNOW mexican food. The fish ceviche is the BEST and soooo fresh! I only wish it came with more tostadas, although it was no problem at all for them to bring us more at no cost. I tried a little bit of what my girls ordered and EVERYTHING was good right down to the rice. If it werent so far away I think Id be here weekly. The prices are affordable as well. I dont think I can say anything bad about this place.

WOW! Meeting artist Chip Holton as he was carefully creating a masterpiece mural really was a welcome sight. Upon arrival you can see what looks to be one of the finest patios in greensboro. . . and the interior is just as spectacular. Enjoy a drink at the bar while fresh chips and the best guacamole dip, salsa and cheese sauce this side of Dolores Hidalgo are delivered with a smile. After a wonderful meal with friends - this is my new favorite Mexican Restaurant in Greensboro. Please stop in and say hello to Aurdin Ruiz - the owner- and enjoy the amazing murals by artist Chip Holton . . . I promise you will not regret it. Enjoy! @dhatfield

Very disappointing, I used to go to this place every once in a while until last night, my buddy and I came in and there was a couple waiting for a table to become available so we were second in line, there were two employees on the front desk and they didnt acknowledge us despite the fact that we were standing right in front of them.. Shortly after, the couple waiting got a table. Within a few minutes, two couple came in and they were greeted and serviced right in front of our faces! it was like if we werent there. We didnt say anything and just took our business someplace else.
