Being hungry for Mexican food in the land of delicious home cooked food is no east feat. Driving down the seedy part of town past the 30 split lies Plaza Mexico, nestled next to a Dollar General store. My girlfriend and I are well versed in Mexican food, since it is our favorite. She got her default Chicken fajitas and I got the special which was described as "two pieces of steak, with beans, rice and flour tortillas", so I went with it. We also ordered guacamole and cheese dip. The salsa was decent and the chips werent that bad, albeit a little stale. The guacamole was next, since it had to be made. It was ice cold, not sure how they pulled that one off, that too wasnt bad considering it was blender guac. The cheese dip was without a doubt from a jar. Same consistency, not to mention I heard the microwave door close and the timer go off. Out come the entrees. The fajitas were very nice looking, big slices of tomato, onion and green pepper served the usual way, it wasnt all that bad, maybe a 6 out of 10. The special came in a bowl, with a puffy parchment paper covering? I received 5 little nuggets of steak in a red colored liquid and about 15 various sized bay leaves, yuck. The beans and rice were without a doubt in my mind from next door at Dollar General. The rice even had those dehydrated peas and carrots with the wrinkles in it, if youve had cup o noodles, you know what I mean. I tried a bite and it tasted just like a box, the beans were the generic beans from a can, again from next door. To sum it all up, if you know real Mexican food, avoid this place. if you think Chipotle and Qdoba are the greatest, youll love it.

Plaza Mexico definitely isnt the most fashionable place in the world (end of a strip mall, hard to see from the street), but the server Ive had twice is very sweet and the food is amazing! You can tell that the owner is trying hard to make a store front into more of a restaurant, as they have lights above tables and a pergola inside the entrance. They also have a TV playing shows in Spanish! It seems like very authentic Mexican; every time I eat there I have a really delicious dish. I think the pricing is very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. You have to try the refried beans- they are to die for! All in all I will visit again; its worth the 25 minute trip to get there.

To all of my Lancaster PA friends I implore you to try Plaza Mexico on 1651 Lincoln Highway in Lancaster. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant. It has a new owner and the food is awesome. I have been talking to the owner who is a young guy who is really trying to get the word out. Great guy who cares about doing good business. Eat here you will not be disappointed. Good tasty fresh guacamole and chips, great homemade hot sauce, and the chorizo and eggs were made very well. Everything here is good. I have no clue what the bad reviews were talking about.

This was my first and last time here. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas and they were stone cold and the chicken was very dry and very little flavor. The beans and rice were definitely from a can and cheap. There were no customers when I arrived and the workers were sitting down at a table playing on there phones and watching tv in the dining area. Even the whole time I was there they continued to sit in the dining area. This was not 3.9⭐️ Like I was hoping. I will not be returning and I wont be suggesting this place to anyone.

We love Plaza Mexico, we order there often. Its the only restaurant we have found that can compete with Cocina Mexicana on Prince St. They make me a special vegetarian chimichanga that isnt even on the menu. The nachos are all bangin. The employees are very polite and do their best to make sure you are satisfied. The guac is yummy, the chips are NOT stale - they are fresh and made there. My husband gets the rice milk every time. The flan is amazing. Only improvement we could wish for is a better location.

Was not impressed. Poor service. Waitress refused to take a coupon from there ad from another customer after some words they finally took it. Then we waited for 20min just to give are order. Food was ok I got a chimichanga was more rice and beans very little meat. Asked for water to drink "dont do it" tasted like it was ran through your water hose outside.

The food wasnt bad, but I ordered bistec encebollado, which is steak with onions, but it was more like onions with steak. the steak was thin like steak-ums and was lost in the onions. I ate a lot of onions but still had plenty left over. good taste but over priced.

I freaking love tamales! And they are delicious here. And to quote one of my favorite people: "Chimichangas!" The Chicken Chimichanga was amazing. And the final touch of friend ice cream made the great meal end beautifully.

Id highly recommend checking this place out! The food and service was excellent. The place itself was clean and nicely decorated. Please dont judge this place from the outside, go in and try the authentic Mexican food!
