Our party of four adults dined at this restaurant on 2 different occasions and found it to be very good. We had reservations and were attended to upon arrival. We chose to have drinks at the bar first which was not a problem at all. The wine selections are adequate and fairly priced for the pour. The beer selection is limited and I feel this needs to improve to gain 4 stars. We did not have cocktails so cannot attest to that. Our table was ready when we were. The waitress automatically provided ice water without asking us or having us request it. I am a big fan of ice water! Our glasses were replenished throughout the evening by the waitress or by the owner. Fresh bread was served hot with their signature butter. Menu selections were taken in a timely fashion and delivered similarly. The salads were fresh, the entrees were presented beautifully, and above all tasted delicious!I might add that the entrees arrived at the right temperature for eating as well. Desserts were shared and also quite good. The key lime seems to be the show stealer. Our waitress was outstanding! She appeared at all the right times and executed her service very professionally. The ambiance of the restaurant makes it great for adults to have conversation and linger. I feel children under 12 would not find it intriguing despite a childrens menu that is available. In addition, it certainly would add to the atmosphere if some music were piped in. If youre looking for a delicious meal this is your spot.

I was in town for a conference. I was having a bad day. Had a headache. And this was nicely located right down the back roads from the hotels just 1 mile north of Hershey Park. Because I was a single diner, it posed a bit of a challenge, but they found a nice little table for me. The staff was extra friendly, accommodating. They asked how I was frequently, filled my water, and went out of their way to make sure I had a nice time. I had the seared scallops. I swear there were about 22 on my plate. Way too much, but soooo delicious. I almost ate them all. The asparagus...three spears...was enough and very complementary. I even splurged on dessert and it took me a bit to decide. They all looked wonderful from the chocolate cake, to creme brulee...to the raspberry cheesecake, which is what I chose. The setting was quaint, cozy. Food from what I saw all around was superb. I heard nothing bad and saw nothing but a friendly staff who was always on the move and willing to help. I saw a few poor ratings on this place and almost passed. I am glad I decided to ignore the few and go with the many. Excellent little place!

This was one of the worst experiences Ive had. The hostess/owner was AWFUL. She was extremely unprofessional. Telling us to "run to the table when we saw four people leave". The poor waitress was clearly terrified of her. The waitress did the best job she could with what she had, clearly working hard. The food wasnt exceptional but it wasnt terrible either. The worst was after we paid our tab and were walking away from our table, they informed us that they didnt transfer our round of drinks from the bar to the table, so we needed to pay for them. Then they told us how they didnt know what we drank so we had to try and remember what we had so they could charge us for it. Absolutely ridiculous. If you make a mistake like that you just take the hit. Its not a customers job to keep track of what theyve eaten or dranken. Will not be returning.

I would NOT recommend this establishment to somebody looking for a nice place to eat. We had reservations for 7PM, waited until approx 7:15 until we were seated... the hostess asked us to wait until a table was cleared and then proceeded to seat another party. It was another 10 minutes after we were seated until a waitress came over to take our drink order, which took another 10 minutes to get our drinks... and in the meantime, a waiter came over to get our drink order (had no idea wed already been waited on). The waitress rarely checked on us and was not very friendly. We were hoping the food would make up for the horrendous service, but it did not. The food was not terrible, but it definitely wasnt anything spectacular. I wish I could get the 2 hours of my life back that was spent at the Union Canal House.

The new Union Canal House has come back with vengeance. The new chef has brought a number of new dishes and improvements to the menu. We had appetizers, entrees, and desert, all delicious. The onion soup was extra tasteful. The new bar orientation is a nice change and the dining room is better lit. The wait staff, manager, and owner went from table to table to make sure all guests were satisfied. The dining rooms was packed but cozy. We even got a short tour behind the scenes. For a great piece of history, and a nice evening with great food in Hershey, we would strongly recommend Union Canal House. Thanks

Food was awful, chicken piccata tasted like they marinated a rubber chicken in lemon juice, potatoes were dry and bland, portions were incredibly small especially considering what you pay, and the owner/hostess was incredibly rude. NEVER EVER RETURNING even if I were paid to. Also made reservation for New Years eve for our anniversary which they made NO mention of a limited menu, again, incredibly disappointed.

I just returned from one of the most unpleasant dining experiences of my life, and was compelled to leave a review for this place. Not only was my steak way overcooked, but the lady who called herself the "Owner" there is a complete jackhole....extremely rude, and apparently drunk off her rocker....if I was you, I would NOT recommend bringing your children to this disgraceful bar....what a dive!

We used to go all the time and loved it. The new ownership is terrible. We had reservations at 6:00. Asked to wait by bar. Finally seated at 6:50. Waitress never came to table. We left without eating at 7:15. There were multiple tables this was happening with. I am done with this place. Hopefully they will get enough tourist traffic because they will not see repeat business.

absolutely one of THE worst places I have ever eaten at.....VERY RUDE, lousy and ridiculous management was utterly NOT prepared for a busy night, poor quality food, (borderline inedible) only so-so service, and high prices for what you get! RUN....do not walk to the next establishment as this place is definitely NOT worth your time.

Best steak ever!!!!!!!! We have eaten there about 20 times in the past few years and the service and food have always been great. I always order the Delmonico VERY WELL done and it is always juice and tender. The Onion soup is unparalleled. I wish we lived closer so we could go there more often.

The waitress was very pleasant, and very timely with bringing us our amenities when we asked for them. The owners were absolutely delightful, and the Roast Duckling a lOrange was to die for. It has been the best duck that I have tried thus far. 10/10 atmosphere, service, and food.

Both times we were given excellent personal service. The first was a holiday party and everyone enjoyed every dish. The second time they remembered us and the chef made a special appetizer for us. Ask for a tour of the 250 year old underground tunnel.
