This is not only a terrible representation of Suffolks restaurants, but an even worse representation of Italian food overall. Amicis was recommended by a few friends of mine, so I figured I would check it out. The first time, I, my boyfriend, and another couple went to brunch at Amicis. We ordered, waited for 45 minutes for our food when our server came out to tell us that the computers went down and that she would have to take down our order again. That baffled us because she originally took our order down on a pad of paper, and because our order wasnt even being cooked yet. Once we got our food (about 15 minutes later) we had to wait yet again for silverware (another 5 minutes.) I ordered eggs benedict only to find that it was poached egg on top of soggy french bread with hollandaise smothered over top. Interesting. We complained to the owner who seemed to have NO customer service skills but gave us a $35 gift certificate and invited us back for dinner. He assured us it would be better because our server was new (the computers did not go down by the way) and that this was totally out of character for his restaurant. Anyway, my boyfriend and I went back tonight for dinner (about 2 weeks later) figuring we had nothing to lose at this point. Boy were we wrong. Our server seemed nice and kept our drinks full in the beginning. Good. We ordered the calamari. Bad. The batter was salty and fell right off the calamari every time we tried to dip. Our margherita pizza came quickly. Good. It was incredibly bland (except the random processed chunks of uncooked garlic hiding in the cheese). BAD. We waited for about 10 minutes for our check while the server cleaned the liquor shelves (with a full restaurant) which was weird and annoying so we just gave her the certificate and told her to keep the change. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone unless they are looking for cheap ingredients, bad service and an overall unpleasant dining experience. I would however recommend: Sushi Aka, Primo 116, or Pisces restaurant which are all within walking distance.

This place was fantastic and not "just" a pizza place! Their menu is very diverse and includes a good wine list. We had the garlic bread(sticks) to start and then two 10" pies. All were fantastic. Breadsticks were great with just a hint of oil and seasoning, versus other places in which the garlic flavoring overpowers. Pizza was very good - sauce on the sweet side, which was a nice surprise. What I like best about their pizza was that it wasnt trying to imitate a "style." It wasnt New York or Chicago "style." It was simply good dough, good sauce, good toppings, cooked in a brick oven. And that worked!

This was our favorite restaurant when we moved into the area 3 years ago, but it has gone downhill. We had noticed the pizza toppings were getting more and more sparse but on the last one the sauce was nonexistent and there was a little cheese. So we decided no more pizzas. We went there the other night and I ordered Penne a la vodka- $14. I was very surprised when the order came. There was about 10 noodles on the plate and a few sausage pieces. It was extremely spicy. Needless to say I was hungry when I got home- never had that happen after a restaurant meal. We will not be going again.

Busy....bustling with locals all talking and sharing. Lots of laughter. Waitresses were quick to get your order and help. It was too cool for me, everyone else was fine. Food arrived hot and was very good. One order of lasagna was oily due to there being too much cheese but otherwise it was all good. As it got busier the volume got so loud that we felt like we were yelling so wed be heard. But it was friendly and I would certainly go back. With a sweater.

We really enjoyed the appetizers. Our red wine by the glass was very warm. I even tried to cool it off with some ice cubes it was that warm. A bad thing to do with your red wine,as I learned. Watered it down. Our meal was okay. I had veal marsala my husband ad seafood diablo. The veal was tough and the dish had very little flavor. We went with friends who seemed to enjoy their meals.

This was an awesome place to eat at, it was a real mom and pop shop you could tell by the atmosphere and the food. I had an side order of mozzarella sticks, with marnara sause can tell it was made fresh and not out of a can, then i ate the lasagna as my entree and it was really good, the pasta was fresh the cheese was great and meat sause was seasond to perfection

It was ok. Im picky about my pizza. A margherita pizza should fresh mozzarella fresh basil and sauce. Simple. It should not be a cheese pizza with basil and tomato as toppings. Just my humble opinion so I knocked off a star for that. The dough tasted like they made it fresh and I enjoyed the outdoor seating. Service was great.

I love that this fun little restaurant is in downtown Suffolk and really wish there were more establishments like it. The steak salad with hot bacon dressing is amazing, so are the steak and eggplant nachos. I would definitely recommend the mushroom pizza with balsamic glaze. YUM! They have a great drink selection, too!

They have one of the best pizzas Ive ever had in the Tidewater area. The breadsticks are one of a kind and its something that I could eat all day long. There are other food items on the menu besides pizza and bread sticks. All of the dishes are made from scratch every day. Delish!

Wonderful quiet little Italian eatery! Staff was friendly and very helpful for what we needed but not always over-shoulder. Nice and hearty crust on the FIRE OVEN pizzas. Amazing beer selection, had the 90 minute IPA. Had the cheese, bacon cheeseburger, and Thai pizzas. Wonderful!

Great pizza! Never found better. Very relaxing, casual atmoshphere but also a romantic feel. Great beer selection, good prices, never had issues with service. My wife and I eat here maybe 3 or 4 times a year because its a far drive but always worth it, never disappoints.
