Ive been here twice with my fiance and we LOVE it! Great, great atmosphere with the best music! First time, we sat at a table for breakfast, seated instantly. Took a little long for food, but they were busy and we understood. I got the banana-nut waffle and it was HUGE. Loved it. Fiance got the chicken fried steak and really enjoyed it. Coffee was great too - just wish they had non-dairy creamer at the time! Second time we went we sat at the bar (seated immediately again) and received AWESOME service from Katie the bartender. She had us cracking up laughing and made our mimosas quickly. It was busier during this trip, but our food arrived quicker than the first visit. I got the portobello omelet, but gave the potatoes to my fiance because the omelet was more than enough. Fiance got a house waffle and enjoyed it, but says it was a little too small for him. We also shared a bowl of fresh fruit, which was great because they gave a normal-sized bowl full, instead of a small bowl. Needless to say, we are super excited to have Sweet Jam in the neighborhood!! Keep it up you guys!

I have eaten here 3-4 times in the last couple of weeks. The food is excellent, the ambience first rate, wait staff is on their game, and the owner/chef has always made it a point to come and ask how everything is. The food is great. I had the chicken fried steak, the potatoe nachos, and a couple of other entrees on my visits. My brother, a chef, had the daily specials on our last 2 visits, Red Beans and Rice, New Orleans style, on one visit, and Jambalaya the last visit, and he said they were authentic and excellent, and he is not one to be effusive in his praise, having very high standards when it comes to anyones cooking. It is a very nice place, a little out of the way, but well worth finding. I could eat here at least 2-3 times weekly and never grow tired of the food, nor the excellent service and homey vibe. Do yourself a favor and give this gem a try, you will not be disappointed, nor will you leave hungry. I almost forgot; be sure to get a basket of the homemade biscuits! Perfect compliment to any of the entrees, and done extremely well.

Awesome idea, pretty good food, but not the experience we were hoping for. Got there at 10 on a Sunday and were seated within 10 minutes, which was great! Our server greeted us promptly and got drinks but informed us that food would be awhile so we should get our order in quick. We ordered right then and waited 40 minutes for two omlettes and a waffle. The waffle was "like something I could get a Sharis" according to my friend. While I enjoyed the portobello omelette, it came with about 4 potato chunks and 3 blueberries -- so much for a side of house potatoes and fruit. All the breakfast options were about $12-15, so about what youd expect of a breakfast place. There was no music at all until we were getting ready to leave at 11:45! We were really disappointed, since the music is the whole point of the restaurant and one major reason we came here. Not a terrible breakfast option but not great. Hoping they figure things out because its really nice to have a local breakfast spot. Not enough good food in this area!

We went last Sunday and arrived about 12:30 to an almost packed house, but were seated almost instantly. Our server arrived fairly fast, and we were brought our very good coffee. I ordered the Jam Session, she ordered the Fried chicken and waffles. We then waited over an hour for our food to arrive, through the light jazz trios whole set, and when it came, my eggs were scrambled, not over easy, her waffle was hard and dry, the chicken smelled spoiled, with a pungent odor. It probably spoiled due the long wait! They offered a replacement, but we didnt want to wait another hour, so they just took it off the bill. The staff is friendly, the owner apolgized for the wait and food, as we left at almost 2:00! We cant recommend this place, sadly. We had high hopes but I love the cheese grits. I will order a "to go" order of them next time, and pick them up in an hour, and make breakfast at home. My girlfriend gave it "0" stars.

Greeted with enthusiasm and smiles and seated immediately. Our service was very attentive, albeit after the lunch hour so a slower pace was involved. Jerry, partner and chief cook made the rounds to introduce himself in a meet and greet fashion to be sure each one was well taken care of and enjoyed the cuisine. We gave "two thumbs" up over lite conversation. The food was very good and served with a short wait time. We look to return when there is live music and a fuller house, then Ill know if the staff is really good. The atmosphere is cheerful and the ambiance feels bright and intimate although the restaurant is an open concept design. Jennifer,(goodness, I pray I have her named correctly) the hostess is as friendly and warm as a bulky sweater on a snow day. She was as charming and comfortable by phone as she was in person. Well worth a second trip from cross town.

Some of the best, most mouth watering buttery biscuits in town! Went in for weekend brunch, enjoying the live jazz music and getting seated immediately in the bar section with no reservation. Ordered the Biscuits & Gravy Scramble Sandwich and fell in love with Portland Sweet Jam upon its arrival.... Easily one of the most savory and satisfying breakfast plates Ive had the pleasure of eating in years. Great homemade sausage gravy, amazing flaky butter biscuits, accompanied by some freshly crisped potatoes, affable attention from the staff and an experience we wont soon forget. My gfs vegi Benedict was highly recommended by said picky eater who had no complaints the entire meal... Surprisingly enough! The Hollandaise sauce they made was a bit different than your standard sauce. Cant wait to return to this location time and time again! Thanks! Best, ~S

I liked the atmosphere a lot, music was great and the jam-mosa excellent. I ordered the "jam" session which comes with cheese grits that I never got and when I asked the waiter he said that it was that or potatoes so I got the potatoes instead (which I never got asked if that was the option I wanted). The potatoes were to salty and small portion and I never got the chance to choose my 2 types of meat either. I asked for my eggs to be fresh out of the shell which I didnt get and got told they didnt have any until my plate was on the table. My son asked for strawberry jam which they also didnt have, his pancake was kind of hard and dry. I didnt feel like the food was worth the price to be honest and definitely not filling. Oh and it was at least 40 min wait for the food to come out :(

No bueno.. Small, salty portions at incredibly inflated prices that do not reflect what you receive. At. All. If Im paying $15 for a veggie omelet and potatoes, I expect a delicious omelet and plenty of potatoes. Not an overly salty, oily under cooked omelet with 6 fried potato rounds. I dont mind paying premium prices for a premium meal, but this place is SO far from premium. Not even close to being worth what theyre asking.. My friend had to ask for jam to go with her toast... what? The place is called sweet jam and they dont even make it common practice to serve jam with toast? When the Jam did arrive, it was a very small portion of may be 1.5TBS and wasnt very good. I dont understand the high ratings.. Shouldve gone to Black Bear Diner.
