This was my first time back since they have reopened. I went to have dinner on a Saturday evening. While the food was tasted ok, the service was seriously lacking. As we entered the restaurant we walked into a crowded waiting area without a host/hostess in sight. We waited 10 minutes or so before we just added ourselves to the list of people. The whole time we waited there was no host taking names or directing people on what to do, all of this as more people came through the door and just stood around confused. There were two people, who I assume were the owners who wandered aimlessly around the building, in and out of the front door looking stressed and not making any effort to make sure people were aware of the procedure. We were seated quickly for the number of people waiting, but once we were seated it didnt get any better. We sat for 10 minutes without any welcome, or drink order, once we were asked for our drink order it was another 5 minutes before our water came and another 15 before our other drinks showed up. Our waitress was brief until it came time to pay the ticket and tip and suddenly became very attentive to our needs. I ordered the Double Markum burger and was surprised at size of the actual burger, but disappointed in the portion of fries. Out of the 3 tables around us, 2 of them sent something back to the kitchen or the kitchen compd something on their ticket due to a mistake. I get that that the restaurant re-opened recently and that it takes time to iron out the kinks, but there was a real lack of professionalism across the whole operation. Hopefully they can get their kinks figured out, but I will not be rushing back.

We showed up at 5:30 for dinner on Friday evening. Granted, theyve been open for 6 days. Place was packed but if you have x amount of tables and chairs you should be able to service that many people with appropriate waithelp We ordered dinner at the bar since those seats opened up first. Ordered drinks and then ordered dinner. Wedge salad for appetizer to share, jumbo Markum burger for me and wife had stuffed potato. Took an hour and two drinks before we got dinner. Bartender took our food order twice because he didnt know what happened to it. Apparently other waithelp takes whatever is up regardless of what the ticket might say. When we finally got our wedge salad we were surprised to see it was like half a wedge. I mean it was very small and not a true wedge, it was a wedge cut in half again. Disappointed. Burger came, was tasty and cooked correctly but no way is that a half pound of beef and there was no ham. Jumbo Markum burger was a basic cheeseburger. Fries were greasy my guess if the oil fryer was cooling down from too much cooking and no secondary fryer to alternate. Wifes stuffed russet potato was huge but not stuffed with much else. She found 3 small bites of chicken, bacon was missing and no veggies on it as advertised. A bit spendy for the portion sizes and ingredients. Menu is misleading or cook is not up to par. Will have to try once more in a few months to see if they self correct or tank as another failed food business. One consolation was they comped our two drinks but that was for the long wait not for the disappointing food.

Where do I even begin? We went for my mother in laws birthday. First off HORRIBLE customer service. Our waitress was more interested in the game on the tv then in our service. Two of the people in our group tried ordering beers and we were told the taps were down and they only had canned beer. Not even bottles. Okay, no big deal, they got their choice of beer in a can. A few moments later the same waitress was serving another customer a bottled beer, then was pouring from the tap! When she came back we questioned her on it and she asked what tap beer they wanted. It took her 10 minutes to get two beers and they werent even the correct ordered beer. It was not busy at all. Next my mother in law tried ordering a calzone. Our waitress told us she couldnt do that because it took an hour to prepare it. After that my sister in law ordered a side salad. She received half of a head of lettuce, uncut, covered in blue cheese with two small cherry tomatoes on top. It was a joke! When she complained the waitress took it back but wouldnt take it off the bill. The food was mediocre. Red Robin is better in my opinion. Completely over priced and clueless staff. When we asked if they had special for birthday deserts we were told they dont offer anything. We WONT be going back. We paid to much for horrible service and average food.

Ordered carry-out burgers for lunch from the Markham Inn Restaurant today. This is our first visit since their fire and complete new restaurant was built. Hubby went to pick it up since we were doing yardwork (we live five minutes away). He came home looking disgruntled. He said it took over a minute for anyone to acknowledge him even though there were three women and one pizza – making guy in plain sight. He felt like he was bothering them for being there. We ordered a Markham burger and a regular cheeseburger. I didnt care for any fries but the fries came with it – no a-la cart price. I said I wanted a cheeseburger with everything but onions. When I opened the box at home I found a cheeseburger with some plain lettuce, a slice of tomato and onions. No mayonnaise, mustard, or pickles. The patty was cooked well but was poorly seasoned. Tasted very bland. Luckily I could go into my own kitchen to perk it up with salt, pepper, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup and pickles. The fries were hot but the burger patty was cold. Again, luckily, I was at home and could warm up the patty in the microwave. On the positive side, the burgers were very large and the fries were generous and seasoned nicely. But for the price of $21.90 plus a tip, and staff that look like they wanted to be anywhere but there, fail.

If you havent been to the brand spanking new Markum Inn out in the foothills of the Cascades, you are certainly missing out. The place is authentic to its rural farm setting - rustic and simple - yet elegant. Mark Burnett and his cooking staff have put together a robust menu including best in class, mouth watering, oak-fired steaks, hand-tossed oak oven artisan pizza , legendary burgers and a nice surprise: the best meatloaf I have ever had (other than my mothers perhaps.) If you go, the place has become so popular that you should expect 30-45 minutes to get a table. The wait is well worth it. My secret: grab an opens seat at the bar - the service is excellent, and the full menu is available. Before you can finish your beverage, dinner is set in front of you, hot and fresh. Mark Burnett is almost always around, with his smiling face and friendly manner, milling among the patrons to make sure everything is just right. He has put together a great, dedicated, talented staff that work together like a well tuned instrument. You just gotta go. Five stars in my book.
