Best chinese Ive EVERY HAD. I know what Im talking about here. Ive had chinese everywhere. The best place before this was a to-go place at a train station in Chicago, IL. served by 2 ladies fighting in chinese. Lol This was much better: I got a #11 and my husband got a #14. It was amazing. Everything that was deep fried was awesome. And Im usually not a fan of deep fried junk. But this was... flaky...and crisp... and not fatty at all. Real pieces of meat. And the deep fried shrimp was tender (the way shrimp is supposed to be) and not petrified from frying too long. I will admit that the soup scared me at first because it look just like some egg flour soup I got at an asian buffet in McMinnville. (It was SLIMY. And salty as get out.) But after stirring it around, I discovered it wasnt slimy like the other place and it had real bits of chicken in it. It was really, REALLY good. On a scale of 1 to 10: FOOD: 10 SERVICE: 8 DECOR: 5 OVER ALL FEEL: 8 (I wasnt there long enough to notice the cleanliness, it was a lunch break and we had to hurry. But it seemed fine enough.) (Decor got 5 because, well, the whole place is painted lime green. Something you would expect at a mexican restaurant. Itnot good, but its not bad either. Just not crazy about it. Royal blue or blood red would be better. But thats not important...)

So were from Utah, and have been staying in Lincoln for a week. So naturally we went to the local place first Lees. Well it was alright, but everyone kept saying to drive to newport (30 minutes) to go to Kam Mengs. I have to say it was totally worth it. First off food, 1010 freaking amazing chinese, all fresh, all homemade quality, and at a great price. me and the wife ate our fill for 10 dollars a plate! Are you kidding me!? We got the 17 and 18 combination. Second of all customer service was a freakin 1010 the owner is super freindly, and nice. She will play piano for you if you are genuinely interested. I personally loved her story, and her music. third of all, I was not expecting this, but its a spiritual experience 1010 this lady could be a preacher if she wanted. Her story of moving here from China, and the challenges she faced were beautiful, between the story, the beautiful home made art, and the music CDs she made I was almost crying. I broke down and bought a CD, and gave a generous tip for everything making our stay in Oregon genuinely amazing. Thank you so much again for the food. And I seriously almost bought a painting to, but Were out of room to bring back things to utah, and no more room in the apartment back home :(

Me and my wife are big fans of Chinese food and this place was amazing. The outside might not look much and its on the outside of town so its pretty easy to miss but the inside was surprising. The owner was super friendly and so was the other staff. The owner will always greet everyone in person and she loves to make you feel welcome. She does her all her own art work and displays them on the walls and she also has a folder that tells a little bit about her story which is very inspirational. The food came quick and was it seem in good timing, if you had an appetizer and was finished then the main dish came right after. The food it self was absolutely delicious. This isnt your normal trend of Chinese food, it defiantly was unique. The owner does play the piano and occasionally performs. I would most defiantly recommend this place to anyone visiting the coast, as well as anyone who lives locally.

This is my favorite place along the entire Oregon coast for Chinese food. Their grilled fish is the best Ive had any place. We stop by there twice a week and get that single dish. They have so many good things to eat, I always find something new. We really like their steamed noodles, thats new for us. Their vegetables are always very fresh. And lastly, they are the friendliest place around. A real local hang out, everyone knows to go to Kam Meng. And now they have those Oregon Lottery gambling machines in a separate room, you cant see or hear them from the dining area. We literally eat there several times a week, and do take out as well. They are very accommodating and help us be sure not to get any MSG. Support your local restaurants!

There are quite a few Chinese restaurants in Newport, but Kam Meng is the one we frequent the most. The food is excellent and Hiuya is always there to greet you with smiles and sometimes with one of her original songs on their piano. Also, the prices are very reasonable. My recommendation is one of their family dinners. You get a choice of one of their really great dishes(if you like seafood, the sizzling green onion oyster is out of this world!) soup, and a Bo Bo try which has many wonderful appetizers and a small flaming kettle in the middle to toast some of them. If you come to Newport, or even live there and are hankering for some good Chinese food and excellent atmosphere, Kam Mengs is where its at!

This is the first time weve been to Oregon. I absolutely adore it! The Newport area is so cute and has so much to do! We got into town around 7pm and went to eat about 8pm. Im from the Midwest and back home we have these things called crab rangoon, since moving to the PNW I havent found any! Until now! This lovely restaurant has what they call crab puffs which are the exact same. The food is phenomenal! The atmosphere is simple and sweet, nothing fancy except the beautiful art work. The service is attentive, kind and informative upon the menu when questions asked. This place has the BEST Chinese food weve ever had! Its fresh, not processed and cooked in clay pots. Feels very authentic! Love it!

Good taste, value and portion sizes Good authentic flavor. Our server (who Im pretty sure owns the place) was very attentive and treated you like family. Im a big eater, so it was nice to have had tons of leftovers. And it felt refreshing to feel like we were getting good value, because we felt burned at some of the nearby fishy places... The drab building is very dated and nothing pretty, but the tables felt clean and the food tasted fresh and authentic. So 5 stars for that. Also the talented owner lady plays the piano for you too, so it classes up your meal that much more! Next time we visit the Oregon coast we will come back for sure.

Good food, fair prices but the blatant "ME! ME! ME!" thinking needs to stop. When you cant even hear yourself think because the owner is blaring her music, well, enough is enough. Also, we couldnt even pay and leave when we wished to because the owner had a sign on the piano that instructed people to not disturb her when she was playing. Not to be mean, but no one even asked her to play in the first place. I noticed that we were not the only people needing service and couldnt get it. We will not be back. We love real music, but not this music forced on us, especially when we cant get service or pay/leave when we needed to.
