Hands down the best coffee in Western Michigan. Schuil Coffee is a Grand Rapids staple and has been in the same location for over 25 years. I started going as a kid and continued through my adult years in Grand Rapids. Now that I live on the East Coast I still order Schuil online because you really cant find that quality of bean and roast at their price point, even with shipping. Schuil roasts all of their own coffee on site so you know youre getting the freshest possible cup of joe. A lot of people are big fans of their flavored coffees and holiday blend (which is only available in Nov/Dec). I personally always enjoyed their Iced Cappuccino in store, and if I really want to splurge on their bagged coffee I get the Genuine Hawaiian Kona or Jamaican Blue Mountain (which you cant find anywhere else). The shop itself is definitely less a cafe and more a store so dont expect to have space to spend hours hanging out. This place is all about the coffee and there is nothing wrong with that. I’m sipping my last cup from a holiday gift I received. Schuil Coffee is our favorite all year, and has become a holiday gift-giving tradition for my entire family, in and out of state. We all smile when we see the Schuil logo on gifts under the tree or little bags sticking out of our stockings. This year was the best! Not only a great gift of unusual estate coffees and my favorite Holiday flavor, Nutcracker Sweet, but Santa brought me a Santos coffeemaker. It rocks! It’s entertaining and brews a terrific cup. Thanks, Schuil Coffee, for being part of what my family loves about W. Michigan.

Broad selection of coffee and teas. Very friendly and welcoming as well as very educational. The owner personally came out, greeted and spoke with me. They shared information on the quality of their beans, locations harvested from, their roasting process. Prices are very reasonable. They also have large selection of coffee and tea related items such as tea brewing instruments, canisters, chocolate covered beans, dark chocolates, mugs, individual cocoa packs designed for different events, great gift items! Will be returning when I am back in the area again.

Havent been to their shop, but bought some of their roast. They have this scale on it that lookd sort of like this:light o---|---|x--|---|---|---o dark. Like a reasonable person, I took the first hash to be city, the second city+, then full city, Vienna roast and French roast. so this should be between a city + and full city. the been should be dry and medium brown. With a Sumatran, it should have a mottled color. This coffee, however, was very dark, nearly black with a lot of surface oils. past full city, past Vienna to French.

I have been coming to Schuils shoppe since the late nineties, and been an admirer of their coffee for years prior. The selection of coffees is wide. From single origin varietals to flavored beans, the array of choices should surprise and delight any coffee lover. I enjoy the intimacy of their cafe. The convivial atmosphere allows for personal reading or WiFi access, conversation with a friend, or interaction with other patrons and Schuil staff.

Smaller coffee shop catering more to the carryout than the drink/eat in. We had a wonderful cup of coffee trying the Holiday blend. The cups were ample and the layout of the store was such there was always something to look at. The staff was attentive and helpful an made some excellent suggestions We would love to try this again

Coffee is excellent. The staff however, has gotten worse and ruder over the years buying there. The only reason i go there is because of the coffee itself. Service used to be friendly and nice and helpful. Now they are rude and almost act like they are doing you a favor helping you.

Huge selection of flavored coffee, most of which are great. I usually go for the regular coffee and have never been disappointed. The loose leaf tea selection also does not disappoint. Weekly specials are a great way to get your personal coffee stock.

This is our favorite coffee place, they have a huge selection of flavored coffee to take home. Everytime we go we get a new flavor of coffee and our favorites check it out. Plus, they make a really good cappuccino and have some really great biscotti.

Smelled the fresh brewed coffee as I entered the store☕. The sample flavor was banana nut and very tasty it was. Service was great and very informative, and with a smile! We picked out our 3 lbs (they ship too) and left brew a pot!

Blueberry crumble is the best flavored coffee I ever had. I have been in and out of independent coffee shops and this is one of the best regular roasted coffee. If you drink coffee without cream, its a must.
