6/7/13 AT LEAST THE VIEW WAS NICE The view is amazing. That alone is worth the stop here for a bite; thought it might not be a quick bite. We ordered breakfast items and while they were good, it took close to an hour to get our food. An omelette. Almost one hour. Ugh. Normally I would love to spend an hour staring at the water and enjoying a meal, but we were on a road trip, driving up the coast. There are lots of pretty places to see, and we had a certain amount of time to get to some of these spots before they closed. So breakfast was supposed to be quick and easy. We walked in and the place was packed. A waitress saw us and casually motioned for us to go to the front of the place. I guess the stairs outside took us to the back/side entrance. A hostess ran into us half way and pointed to a table by the window back in the room we came from. Several minutes later we were greeted and finally placed our order. Unfortunately, service wasnt as good as the food. Once it finally arrived, she never checked back with our table until we were just about done eating. The room isnt all the big, so even though I mentioned it was crowded, it wasnt an unmanageable number of diners demanding her attention. I really enjoyed my food and even with my coffee and his soda we only spent about $20. For the view, thats awesome. Its sad though because a place like this should leave everyone with a five-star experience. Service is part of that. The food is good and the view is great. And prices are spot-on for the travelers. Glad we stopped but wish it hadnt taken so long to get back on the road.

Havent visited since the mid 80s. We were excited to enjoy a good seafood dinner and explore the pier and beach. Parking is easy and plentiful. Everything looked the same! Arrived at the Seascape around 5pm. We were seated immediately in the back section next to a window overlooking the pier. Waiter was attentive and pleasant. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was overcooked and dry. The cole slaw was average. I subbed a baker for the fries. Sadly, it was the best item on my plate. My wife had the salmon steak which included some canned corn and baker. Although the waiter warned her there were some bones and this was a steak, not a filet, she moved forward. It seemed the entire time she was picking through the meat in an attempt to remove the MANY bones. Kinda ruined her meal. In the future, we will return for breakfast only. Not a very good value for dinner, very pricey also!

Above all else it is the customer service that is lacking here. I brought my elderly relatives to get some local sea food and the waitress showed obvious signs that she was annoyed by our questions and she also showed very little patience explaining the menu which has a complicated lettering system for each dish. While the food was good, it was the service that will stop me from ever taking any family here again. Working in the service industry, I understand at times it can be stressful, but i highly recommend the management of this location to hire/ train employees to have respect for older people who may be hard of hearing and have bad eye sight. Her rude response to questions about the menu were taken note of by both myself and my guests. Absolutely unacceptable in this kind of business. Good food or not I will not be taking any more visitors here.

I dont get much occasion to head so far North up the California coast, but when I do, this is almost always on my list of stops. It has the feel of a hole-in-the wall at the end of the road by the wharf, because thats exactly what it is. The fish is fresh, and cooked exceedingly well. I recommend the fish & chips if youre not sure what you want - light and flaky and not greasy at all like many restaurants do it. Speaking to some of the reviews that say the service is slow, its really about average for a restaurant, and if youre coming here youre not likely looking for a pit stop along the road. The staff, likewise, is closer to what youd find in a decent restaurant (as opposed to a road-side diner). Worth the stop, but do budget some time for it if youre traveling up 101 to somewhere else.

Seascape gets a 3 starts to the value, but a 4th star because of the view. Basically a seaside diner, I felt the prices were a bit high for the atmosphere. $22-$30+ for entree, 2 sides, and soup. (They also had burgers from $15ish) We ordered cod, halibut, one other type of fish in three different styles of preparation (they offer 5). All tasted very fresh and were pretty good. The French fries were great, the chowder was just okay, we loved the calamari. They also had garlic bread, not sure why, but it was super good. All in all, if you want a great view while you eat and are feeling pretty price insensitive, then give it a try!

Based on other reviews we may have just been unlucky. My wife was pregnant at the time and unable to hold down rich food. Each seafood selection had a choice of preparation methods such as grilled, fried, etc.. She ordered the Calamari steak grilled. When the waitress brought it to the table, fried and dripping with oil we told her we had ordered it grilled. She just said "Thats what we call grilled here" and walked away. Theres no risk of us becoming repeat customers!

A perfect little ( quaint ) getaway place to eat after a day on the beach. Our family has been going there every year since we discovered it, about 6 or 7 years now. We have enjoyed every meal, and every experience. It is as described, a cross between diner and cafe, not too fancy. Comfortable with good service, views of the ocean and beach from most of the seats and best of all.... THE FOOD IS AMAZING AND FRESH. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Wanted to head to another restaurant but we missed our turn off, so we decided to check this place out. Was a happy surprise! Right on the water, beautiful views, the food was delicious and the service was great and fast, the servers were attentive. The prices are decent, my only complaint is that they need to make it clearer where they are, because they are a bit tucked away from the parking lot and you have to turn a corner to get to them.

Chowder had some weird thickening agent in it that made it an odd texture, but flavor was ok. The fish and chips were terrible. They hardly had any batter on them, like it was maybe too thin and ran off before they could get it in the oil? And you could tell the oil had previously been burned. The stars are for the fries, which were really good, and the view, which was great. The waitress was nice as well.
