Okay so heres the deal. I am generally all about listing the positives but our experience here was not up to par. We usually go to sushi okalani but they were closed so we decided to give Kaze a try. To start we stood at the entrance waiting to be acknowledged for about 10 minutes without so much of a hello. They were understaffed and it was moderately busy. When we were seated it was pretty difficult to get any service. Both waitresses were not very good at answering questions about the menu (which was stained and dirty) after ordering we were given complimentary miso soup, without anything to eat it with. After flagging down the waitress for utensils, I was given a dirty spoon to eat with. Thats when things really went downhill. After glancing at the water we had been drinking we both realized that there was god knows what floating around in the glass. Both of them. Then a table next to us sent back their water as well due to it being unclean. We waited 40 minutes for only half of our order to show up. I will say that the food was good. But we didnt receive the rest of our order for another half and hour. We had to take it to go because we were over it. Though the food was good, we wont be back. Maybe it was just an off night.

The sushi was great and everything was fresh and wonderful; it was a beautiful blend of flavors. The presentation was awesome. We sat in front so that my daughter could watch the chef/owner prepare the sushi and he was fantastic! My husband had the chicken katsu and I had four different types of sushi, one of which was a shrimp tempura combination. Everything was wonderful. My four year old loved the salad, miso soup, edamame, and sushi. She is a veggie-sort-of-health nut so the less meat for her, the better.....so unlike her father!

First bento box and first taste of mochi. The waitress was personable and didnt mind the over-enthusiastic child one bit. We sat closest to the exit for restrooms and it was still a great atmosphere. Got there just before the rush, and thank goodness cause the first sushi place was already full. Have to thank them sometime for helping me discover Kaze because of it. Perfect. From service, the quality, to presentation, to portions- even my goat-gutted friend couldnt finish his bowl. Midnight picnic with leftovers! Will return.

I only had the sushi so cannot comment on anything else. Their non sushi menu is actually larger, so may be worth a try. The sushi is ok if you in a pinch, but wouldnt recommend it if you are at all picky about good sushi. The selection is very limited and the rolls are small, but the thing that got me is the rice. Dry, almost gritty.

Slow service on a slow night. Waited almost an hour for six people. There were many open tables when we arrived. Had to ask for a beer while waiting at the bar. Food was average. At the end was told that we could not split a $200 check three ways. Come here about twice a year over five years. About 50/50 on good experiences.

I loooove the food here. The sushi is premium fish and everytime we order they get it right. Unfortunately the place is never open when it says it is. They are always short staffed and the turn over is crazy. Im from here and would have given 5 stars had it been open!

Drove from The Dalles based on the idea that they were open for lunch, but they are not. Later in the spring they will re-open for lunch again. Will review again when I can actually eat there, but for now...wasted gas and time based on your google hours.

What a lovely place to dine. Even the miso is hearty! The servings are generous. The presentation is mouth watering. The fish is fresh. They even have Katsudon! What more do you want? Best of all, its in Hood River. Hooray!! Come, eat, enjoy. abogadale

Ordered some simple rolls and some Ramen soup. The soup tasted like I was at a noodle house in Japan. It was fantastic. The waitress was friendly and prompt. Its in a great location in town and had a nice feel to it. I would definitely recommend.

Come here often. Everything is excellent. Much larger menu than Sushi Okalani. They always treat us well. The sushi will hold up compared to any other restaurant. Favorite restaurant in the Gorge.

Food is OK; large menu; friendly owner and staff; nice outdoor seatings during summer months; a bit understaffed + slow but as long as youre not super hungry when you get in youll be fine.

Having lived in Tokyo for alittle over a year. This place, Kaze, serves the real deal. I highly recommend this place and they serve ASHAHI beer! Hands down best sushi in Hood River.

We have eaten here times, in the past we have had slow service, but last night we were seated and served our food in a timely maner. The food was good, and plenty of it.

They lived up to their reputation as slow, I waited almost 20 minutes without even being asked if I wanted a drink. I walked in at 7 and walked out at 7:19.

Food is ok, but the slowness is real, it took about 40 minutes for the main dish to be served, most of the time we were just sitting there

Sushi is awesome but the best thing about this restaurant is the ramen on a cold winter night
