FOOD POISONING: I went to Goshi with my fiance on 4/13/2015 and although the sushi was probably better than Sumo, or some places in SLO, the first two rolls came out around fifteen minutes apart, which I found somewhat annoying in case you want to share/mix and match rolls. The third roll never came out and after twenty minutes or so the waitress was nice enough to notice that we never got it, and reminded the sushi bar to make it. This was not a busy night or anything like that, so I did not see any particular reason that there would be a long wait for any of the rolls. Anyways, when we got our third roll, my fiance have one piece and it was too spicy for her, so I ate the other seven pieces. Unfortunately for me, this was without a shadow of a doubt, the roll that gave me food poisoning. I know this is probably something that is eventually unavoidable if you own a restaurant, but food poisoning is pretty miserable, and along with what seemed like poor service, I do not think that I will go back to Goshi Sushi in the future.

This is the best sushi in the area, in my opinion. The fish is extremely fresh and the sushi is very traditional. They have cuts that are hard to find at other sushi places in town, such as Toro. The rest of their food is amazing too. Lots of traditional Japanese food. Timing is important here. If you want to get in and eat quickly, make sure to go at lunch, or get there ten or fifteen minutes before they open at five for dinner. There will be a line of people already waiting, and the restaurant fills up almost immediately after opening.

My wife and I went here for my wifes birthday. Great atmosphere and delicious food. I dont know that much about all the menu options, but what we got, the Sukiyaki and the Albacore Tataki, were excellent. While the portions were large enough that we didnt have any room for dessert, the mochi ice cream selection looked really nice. I highly recommend making a reservation. We only had to wait about 10 minutes because we had one. It looked like others were having to wait 30-45 minutes, and this was on a weeknight.

Great quality food each time. Highly recommend the Broiled Black Cod- Literally melts in your mouth! Items like Sukiyaki are fun- comes with a stove-like presentation! Summer time brings special items and desserts- like cold noodles and special ice creams. Love it! Much better than many Japanese places even in the Bay Area. The secret is the owner is actually Japanese and so are many of the staff. Youd have to be at a high end hotel to get this quality- and thats even a maybe.

Had a wonderful time. Sat at the bar ordered sashimi and nigiri. Large list of pretty unique options like live baby Abalone, grunt, three different types of Toro (I think blue fin, salmon, Hamachi), fire cracker squid, monk fish... Honestly I cant remember them all. Fantastic, everything was fresh and the pieces of fish were huge. I recommend eating at the bar if you have a party of two, interacting with the chefs is a lot of fun. Will be returning if Im in town again.

One of the best sushi Ive had in my entire life!! We ordered the Boat and between the two of us, we were beyond stuffed! I added the Uni with Quail Egg, and seriously, I died and went to heaven!!! Every single bite of sushi and sashimi literally melted in my mouth. The only problem with this restaurant is that it is so far away from us. So if youre ever in San Luis Obispo, you HAVE TO, YOU MUST, try Goshi! Great service to boot!

My favorite sushi spot in San Luis. Its a little expensive to get the types of food I want, but they more than make up for it in the quality of what you get. The waiters, servers, chefs, everyone really make the experience whole. This is one of the few Japanese restaurants in town in which the food is not limited to fish and tempura, though they certainly offer those classics. Great spot for good friends or nice date.

This is the best sushi restaurant in Central California. I had to wait for a long time to get seated but it was worth it. Finding parking is challenging. If you have kids and try to wait a long time, it might gets challenging because waiting place is tiny. But it gives such vibe that you feels like you are in Japan. Their food were awesome. We ate here for our wedding anniversary. I will never forget this place.

Delicious chirashi, really a nice portion too. I was stuffed. High quality fish. Its been a bit since I had it but I think there was either shiso or ume as part of the rice seasoning, both mmm for me. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive, we ended up conversing about something personal for a few minutes (cant remember what it was). It isnt the prettiest place inside but its very relaxing.

I was surprised to find good Japanese food in SLO. They had a wide variety of foods to choose from, not just sushi. I had black cod, one of my favorite dishes that I make myself often. It was really good! The wait was long and they werent using all the tables. Perhaps they were short on wait staff or cooks the day we were there. But the service was good once seated.

The staff was friendly and always had a smile on. I sat at the bar where the younger chef was at. He was able to create two complete sushi rolls using a few items that I requested. Also, I had one of their popular roll but since I dont like any spiciness, he was able to make it non spicy for me. I cannot complain because everything was great.

I love this place... All of the food is spectacular, from the sushi to the miso soup to the ice cream. I love getting the boat which comes with a ton of sushi, tempura, soup, edamame, ice cream.. Youll leave stuffed. Its a great atmosphere and has really good service. Highly recommended ! This is one of the best restaurants in SLO.

Hands down the best. The service is AMAZING and is just as good as you would receive living in Japan (and I should know because I did live there), plus the food is absolutely delicious. I couldnt find a bad thing to say about this place if I tried. Also if there is a wait to be seated its totally worth however long it is.

People say Goshi is the best sushi in town, but I just dont get it. Its just ok. Service is great. Food is good and prices are a little higher than average. Maybe thats what gives people the illusion of higher quality? Overall, good, but I dont go out of my way to come here. Also, they dont even have a website...

The ONLY authentic Japanese sushi in town. If you want cheap rolls with tons of sauce and other oddities, go to the other California sushi places. If you want Japanese flavour, fresh fish selections, and great service, then Goshi is THE place to go. Dont forget to check their menu board for limited time specials!

All of the fish here is so fresh. Not even a hint of fishiness. Its also incredibly authentic in looks and vibes - I found myself trying to remember how to order in Japanese when I came here. I recommend the omakase sushi plate and leaving it to the chef to take your taste buds on an undersea journey.
