Ive been too spoiled for a full number of stars. Came in for lunch, prices are very dependent on what you order. Hand rolls are mall cheap. Sushi less so. Nigiri requires a meal order that includes miso. Fish is relatively middle of the road, specialty rolls have more classic style than imagination. However they do a spectacular vegetable spread if you happen to be vegetarian. A bit heavy on relying on sauces like the spicy mayo sauce. But overall, for the area, this is pretty top notch. Wish there was a little more local attention to things like crab and maybe salmon when in season, rather than importing from HI being advertised. Would make this place stand out. Staff are polite and pleasant. Glad they are around because the food is quite good.

everything EXTRAORDINARY is closed in Brookings on Sundays. and the most extraordinary thing about Brookings eateries (says this SF native) is KItanishi. it is very frustrating. i love eating here. i dont even bother with whether or not the fish really comes fresh from Hawaii, or whatnot. its just such a lovely alternative to the usual suspects. would be five stars and over were it not for the capricious hours....

While some people might say this place is great because there are so few choices for Japanese cuisine in town, I can tell you that the flavors are excellent and comparable to flavors in much larger cities across the state. They are a bit pricey and the portions are a little small.

Great service! Excellent staff! Best sushi on the Western Coast. Our family has found our fav. place to sit and have a great time meeting awesome new friends. Be hungry. They are not stingy with their servings.

The food was amazing. We had the grilled escolar, seared ahi, and the spicy edamame. Plus a special sushi roll. I couldnt stop eating. We took a few of the delicious pieces of cheesecake to go. Loved it!!!
