This is pretty much the nicest restaurant in Oxford, Ohio, where you can order a steak. My friend and I ordered the flat-iron steak ($19.50) with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The steaks were cooked (medium rare) to perfection. They were served atop the mashed potatoes, surrounded by broccoli pieces on four corners. Although this looked lovely at first, it ended up looking and tasting rather bad. The steaks juices (i.e., blood) soaked into the potatoes, turning them red and making them taste bad. The steak, losing its juices into the potatoes, lost flavor. Additionally, the broccoli was barely warmed, let alone steamed. Our overall impression was of a place done to appear upscale, with an eclectic, "granola-friendly" menu, with recipes and presentations designed to mimic nicer establishments, but with a chef/cook/staff without a decent palate. If you get the steak, request that the broccoli be cooked longer, and that the steak be placed next to the potatoes on the plate. The service was excellent. Prices were high for a restaurant in a college town, but the bill was no worse than what youd get at a blah-blah Applebees or Olive Garden.

The food is good and the menu is a nice change from the rest of town. Low rating because it is terribly, horribly, amazingly noisy. The floor layout is crowded with tables, which results in above-average conversation noise. That would be acceptable, but the big problem is the coffee machines, which are out in the dining area. They sound like electric drills. The back part away from the coffee bar gets excessive noise from the kitchen. I have been to Kona multiple times and it was always not merely annoying but actually painfully noisy inside. In good weather, however, you can sit on the patio with nothing worse than common street noise. That is quite pleasant. Low marks anyhow because allowing such noise in the main dining area is so offensive.

Pretty good - having since moved from Oxford this place is literally the only thing I miss about the town. Its small, but when its warm the outdoor seating is nice. Good selection of beers and wines, and the food is top-notch. The service is reliable and the staff are usually friendly. Get the chicken salad. Its the best.

The best place in Oxford for a lunch or dinner with friends. The menu is spectacular...something for everyone...and the service is superb. The bar offers a great selection of beer, wine or mixed drinks and theres a Graeters ice cream store right next door. What else could you want?

Kona has a more expensive menu then most of what youll find in Oxford. They have an upper loft with a bar for small, private events. The food is decent, service is so-so, but nice ambiance. Worth the try if family is visiting.

Great local eatery. Locally owned, great food selections, wonderful staff, great drink menu, slightly limited menu, but you wont be sorry you gave it a try. If the weather is nice, try the outdoor dining area!

I had the Ahi Tuna, and it was well done. One member of our party had the 1/2 chicken, and it wasn’t cooked through. The kitchen staff clearly was challenged when it came to cooking properly.

Food is always good. Portion size is "just enough" you wont be bringing a box home. Some things are pricey, but are generally worth it. Highly recommend the crab and corn chowder.

If you are looking for a slightly upscale restaurant in the uptown area, Kona is your place. Kona has a nice menu selection, but I expecting better food when considering the price.

Steep for what you get, and the management isnt the most professional in the world. It seems smoke breaks are more important than patrons.

Such a great spot - we had our rehearsal dinner here and were welcomed with open arms. Great eclectic menu at fair prices.

If they want to keep my business maybe they should stop serving all my food on top of Nast mac and cheese. Terrible idea.

Great food with good variety. On the pricier end for a college town. Nevertheless, the only place in town with Jambalaya!

Please avoid the Jambalaya! At $17 youd expect something closer to the real deal but they are not even close.

Overpriced food, the food on the plate is not the quality the menu describes. Sub par atmosphere and drinks
