Im legitimately shocked that this place has as many positive reviews as it does. I dont even believe it - Ive been to this establishment many times, giving it multiple chances because I really wanted to like it, I really did. The outdoor patio area is great and hip and its in a really cool part of Dayton. However, every time that I visited, Fifth Street disappointed me even more. Their service is consistently awful - Ive waited 20 minutes for a beer here before, despite the occasional friendly inquiry or question only to be met with a huff. Same thing for water - it was a very warm day on the patio and the place was not even crowded. The service became tolerable when I started ordering two beers at once, so I would have the second to drink after I finished the first and ordered the third (half the time the beers they brought us were warm anyway). Their beers are okay, but I would never choose any of them over most comparable styles from different breweries. Their food is average and overpriced, with the exception of their appetizer charcuterie plate, which sounded amazing on the menu but which ended up being literal pieces of lunch meat and crackers with a few cheese cubes. Sigh. As I said, I wanted to like it. Im retiring my willingness to keep trying Fifth Street. Overpriced, horrid service, average food, average beer. Its a shame - the atmosphere is cool and east Dayton could really use an establishment like this in a far superior iteration. Until then, I will continue to denigrate Fifth Street any time I am afforded the opportunity.

Every chance I get when I get down to Dayton Ill try and go to a brewery. I grew up in the area remembering going to Downtown and shopping in Rikes, Sears, and the arcade. Over the New Years holiday we went to several breweries in the area (Dayton, Warped Wing, etc.). I was extremely disappointed with the brews they had to offer. When I informed the server of the off taste of the beer I had ordered, he dismissed me, noting I didnt know what I was talking about (been brewing since 1992). Disappointed with his attitude, because I really want this establishment to flourish in heroin infested Dayton, I left. Not sure if Ill be back, well see. Would like to see your servers let the brewer know what customers think without being attacked.

Ordered a hamburger and they didnt ask how I wanted it cooked. Came rare, also when I took a bite I could tell immediately it was a frozen Patty. The outside looked done but it was still cold in the middle. Also had the buffalo nachos once and they tasted like I had threw up in my mouth, absolutely disgusting. Add in poor service and other horrible menu items. They sell a "part ownership" item as well, its a nice pie in the sky pitch, but the food and service kept me from wasting my money. I live right down the street and eat out often, havent been there in over a year so that says something. I have eaten here about ten times without getting sick so Ill leave two

While the concept is interesting and the service decent enough, the specialized foods advertised (gluten free specifically) werent available and the wait staff was not well educated on food concerns (the staff tried twice to sell a celiac person a beer). The atmosphere was the worst part, as patrons blew smoke on our table (outside) and the place is designed in a way that the smoke lingers outside. They werent able to accomodate a medium sized group inside which would have alleviated the issue. The food was only mediocre at best, so that couldnt even save the poor experience.

Great selection of craft beer. Dont worry, they also serve wine and spirits if youre not into beer; the seasonal cocktail menu is tasty! Weekly specials appear on the front of the menu. Four stars are for the food and house craft beers, the fifth star is for how they give back to the community. They have a great philanthropy model with guest bartenders Monday night. Ive learned about so many great things happening in Dayton simply by showing up on a Monday! Watch for game nights, "arts and drafts" crafting activities, and other special events on the website.

Came on a Wednesday evening in search of some local craft brews and wasnt disappointed. Service was a bit slow, but this aint the place to come for fast-food. Its to sit, have a beer, take in the atmosphere kind of place. Ordered the Henry St. Chips with pulled pork. Chips salty, and dish was lukewarm, cheese not even melted. I was hungry so ate anyway. Besides: I came here for the beer which was aces.

Great Co-op. One of the top patios in Dayton. The menu is always improving and Chef Brandon is always creating interesting weekly specials. If you are a fan of dark beer try the JoJos Stout or the Scottish Reign. I had the barrel aged Scottish Reign on Saturday and made a special trip back on Sunday for another. Great Bar, Great neighborhood and very friendly environment.

Ive been back here each time I travel to Dayton and while the beer has improved the food has not. I had the sliders tonight and they were the smallest Ive ever seen and just average buns and flavor. The chips were over cooked and soggy. The beer on the other hand has improved. I had the double IPA and would highly recommend it. Smooth, powerful with a great finish.

The atmosphere is nice and the beer is good, but theres little selection. The food is... Okay. I got the Buffalo chicken dip. It was basic, but good. Unfortunately, one of the friends I was with also ordered food (pulled pork sliders) but they never arrived and we werent told why or anything. I might go back again, but Ill definitely eat before going next time.

This was simply the best Pub Ive been to in Dayton. Friendly people of all walks of life. The Waite staff are very attentive and should be relied on for recommendations of food or drink. The outdoor beer garden gives you a view of the brew house, and musicians are often outside for your enjoyment on a Friday or Saturday. Absolutely the Best Food!

Disclosure: Im an owner of this great co-op brew pub and proud to say that not only are the stouts, ales, pils, etc first rate, but the managers have consistently scored really fine chefs for the kitchen. Not your usual deep fried bar food, but top notch salads, soups, sandwiches, meals. A major asset for the neighborhood as well as the city.

This was my first stop at the Fifth Street Brewpub and I enjoyed it! I ordered a flight of three beers, then had a pint of the RyRish. All quite good! I did not order food, so I cant comment on food here. I did wander out to the bier garten and it is very nicely done! Im sure I will go back again!

Love the atmosphere and enjoyed brunch here last weekend. The food was good but wouldnt be my go to. I had the modern pub breakfast and it reminded me of something I could make it home. I also wasnt too crazy about the toast - seems like it was pan fried. Great Bloody Mary and love the back patio!
