I wish I did not have to give this restaurant even 1 star. I was at the restaurant today and was sipping my glass of water. As I get closer to the bottom of the glass, I notice something dark green/brown and tubular, perhaps 5mm in length. I have worked with lab rats in the past and I am quite aware of what rodent excrement looks like. I fished it out with a straw and dropped it onto a white napkin, it was mushy and left behind a brownish colored smear, again consistent with my fear that I had in fact just ingested water tainted with rat poop. I called the waiter (Jay) who immediately tried to explain it away as "bean paste" or "some vegetable". He took the napkin and poop to his manager and a group of other employees. My friend and I noticed that both the waiter and another employee were laughing at what appeared to be my expense. He came back and offered a refund of my meal and that of my friend--no apology. When I asked what vegetable they have in the kitchen that could resemble this specimen, the waiter retorted, "there is none." Well then, how can this possibly be a vegetable?? On our way out, I again saw the same female employee bent over with laughter, she was too busy laughing to notice that I was staring at her in horror and disbelief--the other employees standing next to her took notice and looked as though they were caught doing something they shouldnt be doing. She on the other hand just continued, because apparently a customer drinking rat feces is absolutely hilarious. I have called the Cleveland Board of Health to file a complaint. As evidenced by my experience at this "restaurant" today, this staff lacks professionalism, decency, cleanliness and sheer concern for their customers well being. I would NOT recommend this place to anybody--eating here would be putting your health at risk. There is a pest control issue that needs to be addressed. I beg of you to please eat elsewhere, unless youre up for finding a little bonus ingredient with your meal.

Growing up with a deep rooted Filipino taste for Asian cuisine take this review with a grain of salt. This place is more traditional then a Bennihana or Sushi Rock (recently closed-Beachwood). However in Cleveland, Ohio traditional Japanese restaurants are definitely few and far between. Pacific East is an excellent Japanese restaurant. Having tried the little variety of Asian cuisine in North East Ohio this place ranks high. Typical service, good prices, and excellent food. The variety of traditional Japanese dishes is great. From Pork Katsu (panko breaded) and the endless number of sushi items this place is just the best. If your looking for a good night out for some sushi or Japanese food this is your best bet in Cleveland. The Coventry location is much better in my opinion (PARK ACROSS THE STREET) to the one on Chagrin. The Chagrin location has terrible parking options and the actual restaurant is only a few tables. If you dont take my word for it, just check this place out any night of the week and you will see tons of Case Western Reserve students directly from Asia appreciating the food as well (they are usually a great time!). All in all this place is an A++ and I will continue to go here as long as they keep pumping out a quality product at a competitive price. Now to find an All you can Eat Korean BBQ. The one in Parma (Seoul Garden) is not all you can eat but it is excellent as well.

Overall disappointing Japanese cuisine. Been to Pacific East three times for their Japanese food since Ive lived in Japan and crave Japanese dishes occasionally. So far Ive ordered their Katsu Don bowl, their Japanese Curry bowl, and their Tonkatsu Ramen. The dishes have been progressively worse with each visit. Katsu Don bowl was good; nothing special. The Curry dish was not great; didnt have much sauce, was mostly potatoes and was already spread over the rice when served. The Ramen was just awful; it didnt look like a typical bowl that has the ingredients arranged on top, noodles were under cooked, as much bean sprouts as noodles, there was only one small piece of meat and one, brown, overcooked egg, and the broth tasted bad and was a milky white color. So I dont recommend going there for the cooked Japanese dishes. I have tried some sushi from my friends orders and that was good. And I havent had their Malaysian food so I cant speak about that.

This is the best Sushi place I have been to in the Cleveland area. I particularly LOVE the Spicy Kani rolls, they are just so good. The miso soup and the salad are also good. We tend to go on the weekends so the wait can be little long but I dont mind it. The staff are very nice, however last time I went I was sat next to the computers in the middle and was bumped into several times by them moving past. Also it took till the end of the meal before our tea was refilled but they were very busy. We also got the gyoza appetizer, which was not hot and didnt really have much flavor, also didnt like the sauce that came with it. I havent tried anything from the other menus yet but intend to soon. Definitely the go to place for Sushi though!

Nothing comes close despite awards that are bought for advertising. Ive frequented every sushi place in town, and tons around the world, and although you will not get a fancy hip hop atmosphere with fruity drinks and female escorts (I actually saw that twice at the place downtown), you will get the best service, the freshest sushi, and the largest quantities - period. Once you try it, youll agree. This place is not great to impress others with its class or trendiness, but rather just flat out the best food. Parking can be a problem, so park in the garage on Coventry if you cant find a spot on the road. And they have a great Malaysian menu that Ive tried a couple of times, just cant seem to branch out from what Ive come to love.

Terrible raw fish. I almost had malaria after I ordered the pricy "Combo for One" for dinner. I didnt sleep well because I have to rush to the toilet 6 times that night. I am pretty sure the fish is NOT fresh! I had fresh fish in Japan and it didnt upset my stomach at all. The layout of the restuarant is very crowded as well. Very difficult for a 6 feet guy to walk between the tables. Very dark inside, too. My friend found a piece of HUMAN NAIL in his hand roll. Very disgusting and turned down. All the waitresses there speak very confusing English whicn made my order extremely difficult. Very pricy food as well. Pricy and not fresh.

The service is bad and the waits are really long both for a table and for food. Not to mention theres no waiting area so its impossible to get from the door to the hostess. And they dont take reservations. The environment is very loud and chaotic. When its busy its impossible to hear other people. Ive been there multiple times and have tried different meals and have never liked the food. Something about it tastes/smells weird so I never eat much of it. I do not eat sushi so I cant comment on it, but it seems they have good sushi. But other than than, there doesnt seem to be good options.
