My husband and I drove an hour and a half to Port Clinton for a day out of the house. When we left for home we decided to stop at Nagoya for dinner. We have eaten at Japanese steakhouses in Ohio, North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, and Indiana. We LOVE the food (obviously). I was so disappointed with Nagoya :( I called and found out there was a half hour wait for Hibachi, the patio didnt have any openings for three more hours, and all the booths were reserved for the night. But we were told we could sit at the sushi bar if we got there fast enough before it filled up. Once we got there we were informed that unlike the dozens of other Japanese steakhouses weve eaten at, we arent able to order anything from the regular menu since were sitting at the sushi bar. But we cant eat at a hibachi table or outside so that menu was the best we were going to get. My husbands steak was ordered medium-well. He ate a rare steak instead. My husband got his soup but my salad was nowhere to be found. We asked for the yum yum sauce and ginger sauce to be brought out with our sushi. We had to ask more than one person and didnt have it until ten minutes after our sushi got to us. She brought the sauces with my salad. Less than three minutes later there was a waiter behind us handing us our entrees. We hardly had enough room on the sushi bar for everything. By this point we were ready to go so I asked for boxes. When I received our check I realized..we had been charged for the yum yum sauce..that wasnt even yummy. Maybe were the only people who realize that this sauce is basically a mayonnaise base with paprika? Not worth paying for. We wont be back.

Had reservations for 8 pm for a party of 11. We called at 7:30 to say we would be adding two people, so a party of 13. They pushed the revelation back to 8:30, seems that would be even busier, but that was fine with us. We arrived at 8:30, were told we would be seated shortly at two different tables, which was also fine with us. We waited 50 mins to be seated, even after asking what the wait was was several times, and being told it would be soon. Maybe that was the fastest this place could clear two whole tables on a busy Friday night, but if you have a large party, expect to wait a while, even with a reservation. Miso talked tasted way too much like seasoned beef broth. This is the only hibachi place I have even felt the need to add soy sauce or seasoning to the food, and yet the meat and seafood seemed to be a touch overdone. Personally, I dont like the whole show and audience participation thing you get at these places, but I know its the only reason some people go to these restaurants, and that said, the performances here were hit and miss.

The food was good. Lettuce wraps used cheap ground chicken which I was disappointed in though (however the flavor was good).. And Im not normally one to complain about service but we went for sushi. Took 40-45 minutes from the time we sat down before our server took our order. I dont think they have the staff for busy weekend nights either that or our waiter was just an idiot, we never saw him and he left one of our rolls (which was late to begin with) up on the counter for 10 minutes, we didnt get it until everyone was done with our meals, (mind you he saw it when he got another one and just left it there we had to ask him if that was ours)... Needless to say the food was good, prices were decent but service was horrible. Id go back, however if my service is at all as bad, its simply not worth the aggravation.

I made reservations for the patio for 6:30, and was seated right away upon arrival. The patio is quaint and relaxing, overlooking the bay. The grounds were well manicured, and the patio itself was very clean. An investment in some better quality tables would be my only suggestion regarding atmosphere. Our table was uneven, to the point where the food was sliding to one side. The menus selection was a little light, but our food was delicious!! I had scallops and a sushi roll, buth were fresh and hot. The service was sub par, our server was to our table only 3 times, leaving me to have to ask the hostess for another glass of wine. Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed the food, and will be back.

We came in on a Saturday night in October, which is not the busiest time of year. With that said, there was a 30-40 minute wait (reservations recommended) for 2 people to sit anywhere (sushi bar was fastest). There is a reason for it to be so busy. The sushi chefs were very entertaining and the food was amazing. Service was mediocre from our server, but the hosts were friendly and the sushi guys more than made up for our server. We plan to make this a regular stop when we are in town, but know now to call ahead for reservations.

Place was clean sushi was delicious and food was great. It is a little bit expensive but i enjoyed myself as soon as we sat down the sushi chefs offered us a free crab cucumber salad and they were very helpful. I would have given this place a 5 start rating but lady up front was rude. We were the only people up front she looked at us bit decided to finish doing whatever she was doing didnt mske eye contact she didnt say welcome snd went straight to how many and you could tell she disliked her job.

This is the Japanese restaurant above all other Japanese restaurants. I cannot say enough good things about it. Its the best in quality, quantity and entertainment. You will not be disappointed. They have everything from chicken to scallops. Their steak is awesome too. Its pricey but you get the best of two worlds; food and entertainment. You never leave saying that you wish you had not come.

This place was absolutely wonderful! My only regret was not being able to order hibachi -- it was so loud in the hibachi area we chose to sit in the bar. My husband is a sushi fan and loved the chirashi. I got the teriyaki steak -- its rare that a restaurant pulls off medium without going too well done or too rare, but the steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend!

Great food, fairly good service. Nice indoor atmosphere and outdoor dinning deck. On summer weekends be prepared for large crowds and long waits. Also some vacationers can become pretty loud and obnoxious. But if you can get here at the right time with the right people its very, very nice but $$$.
