Rude and unprofessional from the wait staff to the general manager. Smoked food is an acquired taste but is still rather nasty when burned. We went for a birthday gathering and we were treated like 3rd class citizens. Someone ordered chicken wings but requested all flats. The waitress brought out the wings and said the cook only gave you 2 drums because he said he couldnt (or didnt want to) give you all flats. Really?? What kind of restaurant doesnt cater to the customer? Another guest said the rib tips were gristly but "OK". 2 others said their ribs were burnt/charred badly. The replacement ribs were just as charred. The birthday girl ordered fried chicken, which was anything but fried. It was actually smoke fried chicken and when she bit into it, it was bland and tasteless. The cook came out to inquire about the issues with the food and became personally offended and irate. When asked to leave and send in the manager, he stated that he was the manager on duty that night. He wasnt satisfied with the answers he got regarding the food and tried to explain that smoked food was a different taste that apparently we werent able to handle. He finally left and the general manager came in. Those who were dissatisfied with their food expressed this to her and she started off reasonably but that quickly changed. When asked if other patrons had a problem with the food she said no and that the problem seemed to be "this room", meaning us. Yes the general manager on duty told us that we were the problem. She then proceeded to mess up everyones checks. She went to correct them and brought them back with 18℅ gratuities attached to them. No discounts, no concessions, no apologies. When questioned about the automatic gratuities we were told "thats how the system rings it up". When we asked for them to be removed so we could leave our own tips, she apparently told the waitress that we werent going to tip at all. The waitress brought the checks in, slammed them on the table, said "I hope yall sleep well at night" and stormed out of the room. That was the icing on the Smoq crap cake experience. Obviously they felt that we were just looking for a free meal instead of paying for a quality dining experience. The only bright spots were the chicken and waffles (which was the only piece of fried chicken Smoq served) and the childrens chicken fingers that I ordered. Luckily its hard to mess up chicken fingers. The waitress started off good but changed it up on us in the end. I nor anyone in my party will ever go back to Smoq, and Im sure that Smoq doesnt care if we do.

Service horrible! Food good. A party of 15 came in and our server was gone! Did not come back for refills, or to check on us. Nothing! Dishes piled up, she only came back, because I got another server to track her down. She did get my husband a refill, which ended up spilling EVERYWHERE on my COACH purse, my iPhone and me! So many empty plates on table the spillage could have been avoided. We had ordered dessert when she did come back. She dropped the bill off also. She DID NOT pick up any plates.She did not even bring our dessert out. She had another server bring it out. I explained to that person we had a spill. A young guy came over. He started cleaning the spill, which I had started cleaning up already. We had no forks, nothing to eat the dessert with. Nothing to drink because the young man cleaned everything. I once again flagged down another server. They dropped off some utensils and clean napkins. The dessert was cold by this time. Very disgusted. Our server came back and took the bill. She did not say anything! She took the payment, and came back to the table with out saying a word! She knew she messed up. Another server came over and asked if everything was ok. I explained about the dishes, and poor service. He apologized. He said the next visit will be better. Really???? A next visit!... No way!! Its a true shame! We had never ate here before today. We are not the type of people that complain. It was very bad service. The entire experience was horrible. It could have been avoided if we just had a server do her job. The spill would have never happened if the plates were removed! It really put a damper on our Sweetest Day. The saddest thing was the food was good.. SERVICE was horrible! Sad....experience sucked! many dishes Nothing was done.

I ordered take out from their online site and had a good experience there. Was easy to order from and didnt have any issues or errors with it. When I went to pick up my food, again, nothing wrong here as the staff was friendly the entire time. My issues came down with the food itself. I ordered ribs, beans, potato salad, pulled pork and an order of fries. The pulled pork was pretty good. You had to add the sauce yourself which is fine, as I had take out and that wouldve been a soggy mess if it was the other way around. Potato salad, again, this was good and cant really complain. My biggest issues were the beans and the ribs. The beans just didnt have enough bbq bite to them as other places do. They werent horrible by any means. I finished one order of them and was content. just needed some extra flavor. They are expensive on their own... around $4.00 for a small ladle of beans. not really worth it for the price. The Ribs.. ok the ribs wouldnt have been so bad if I didnt have to fight so hard to eat them. Most rib joints I like them to fall off the bones and these were far from it. Had to have been the toughest ribs I ever bit into. using both hands to tear them from the bone and they hardly came off. I was just expecting something better for the price point. I wouldnt go here again. mostly because of the price and what you get for that price. This just could be one of those things where if I did go back, Im sure next time the ribs would be great. When you eat out at places like this, you just expect them to hold a higher standard to the food they put out compared to a restaurant like, Texas Roadhouse.

The atmosphere is very nice when you walk in, thats the only reason they got a star. If I could give them a negative star I would. I generally do the right thing and go to Pappadeaux just across the parking lot, but decided to give smoQ a try as I had heard pretty good reviews about it. The service was pretty good, even though it took a little while and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food, however, left a LOT TO BE DESIRED!!! The ribs were tasty and the macaroni and cheese pretty good. If you are into SUPER SALTY chicken and SWEET greens, this is definitely the place for you. We let the manager on duty know about the high blood pressure on the plate and she did NOTHING. No apologies, no how can I make it right, nothing. Just "We do put season salt on it when we take it out of the fryer". It was not only in the skin, but all the way through the chicken. This was the most horrible dining experience I have had in some time. Dont waste your time or your money, its just not worth it.
