While this restaurant may just be one of many punjab style north Indian places, the food quality is great and ive been eating Indian food for over 20 years and have eaten at all the Indian restaurants in the 275 loop, even ones that dont exist anymore. Lunch buffet selection is great, quality is very good and consistent and the price fits in well with the area its in and the people that inhabit the area. I wonder if they could make more money by having a dinner buffet certain days of the week? Anyways, the food is made by chefs working for a long time, its good, but the customer service here isnt exceptional but im not bothered. Almost every negative experience people have had here are mostly the result of the surrounding community environment in combination with a staff that preserves its integrity. RECOGNIZE THE POWER YOU HAVE AS A CONSUMER. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHOOSE MOST OF THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES YOU USE. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE FOOD OR SERVICE, DONT EAT HERE! THERES NO REASON TO LEAVE BAD REVIEWS AND SLANDER FAMILY OWNED BUSINESSES. Ive been eating here since 2006, when my girlfriend went to Xavier, and the food has always been great! I LOVE THE FOOD HERE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DINE HERE REGARDLESS OF HOW I AM TREATED. RATING THE SERVICE HAS A VERY LIMITED QUANTIFIABLE MEASURING SYSTEM, SO FOR MOST INDIVIDUALS TO RATE SERVICE AT RESTAURANTS WOULD BE INVALID AT THE LEAST. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A SUBJECTIVE NON-QUANTIFIABLE FIELD WHICH IS DERIVED FROM PROVIDING CUSTOMERS WITH AN EMOTIONAL RESONANCE TO PROJECT FEELINGS OF SUPERFICIAL JOY, HAPPINESS, FALSE AFFINITY. ENOUGH SAID. I DO NOT LIKE TO EMOTIONALLY MANIPULATE PEOPLE, NOR LIKE TO BE MANIPULATED, DO YOU?............................ So the last word is, this restaurant is a great place to eat indian food, the lunch buffet is great, the menu items are plentiful and quality items, and the customer service is acceptable. If you like indian food, eat here, if all you care about is being treated well, do not eat here.

One phrase review - Indians, run away! We ordered chicken Biriyani, chicken Pakora, chicken kurma and panneer Naan. The service was very courteous and prompt but the food was horrible. We left pretty much everything on the table walked out and stopped at a nearby grocery store to pick up dinner. The meat was stale, so stale that we couldnt eat it. Biriyani was some curry mixed with half cooked long onion pieces and rice mixed together, and chicken Pakora was a joke. My 4 yr old said he likes the McDonalds chicken nuggets than this so called pakora. It was a thick rubbery thing covered in batter, yuck! Left the entire thing as it was. I love Biriyani and it is a dish I order at every restaurant for the last 22 years. Sorry to say that this was the worst one I had in a long time I can remember. The first indication should be the Pappadam we got for our 2 yr old. Out of the 3 or so pieces, two were burnt and were black. They didnt even apologize but just dropped another Pappad. We were just angry at the entire experience, I cant remember the last time it was this bad at an Indian restaurant. [edited] When we told the another lady who took the order that the food isnt good, she couldnt care less. She just turned and walked away! This traumatic experience cost us $42, wish I donated it to a charity. The good fall out of this experience was the realization of how good it feels to eat fruits for dinner. Check my other review for a good biriyani restaurant in the area.

I have had many different Indian dishes around the area and this place was a waste of my time. My favorite dish is the Shrimp Tikka Masala. I ordered that as well as the Chicken Makhani for my boyfriend. Since there were two entrees ordered, doesnt that mean that double the rice should come with it? There was the usual small container full of rice, but it was hardy enough to split between two people: your rice drowns in the sauce. The containers filled with the sauce and meat were only about 3/4 full, whereas at Daata or Ambar it would be filled to the lid. Also my shrimp MUST have been old. They were very chewy and unflavorful. Unfortunately I know what old shrimp taste like. I also ordered the mango lassi, which except for the fact that it was almost $4 for a 8-10 oz portion, was delicious. The only reason I came to Baba was because Daata India in Norwood was closed. I will stick with that or Ambar from now on.

What terrible service I just received from Baba India. I live in the neighborhood and frequent this restaurant once a week. I always get paneer makhani to go. Tonight, when I got home, I began eating and realized they had given me chicken makhani. I do not eat meat but am pretty relaxed about my practice. I called back and asked for them to give me my original order and they refused. They were rude and not accommodating at all. They continually told me I would have to place a new order if I wanted anything other than what I had received. They refused to fix the situation. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Shaan India is right around the corner and is just as good. I will be taking my business there from now on.

Went with some friends ... just to let you know Im allergic to curry ... I know dumb to go there ... anyway I told this to the server and asked for something from the menu without curry ... a simple salad which doesnt have curry ... great Ill have that ... when I received the salad it had curry sprinkled all over the top of it. I refused it and then I was told I would have to pay for it ... HA I refused. Have never gone back. I was just trying to have a meal with friends at their favorite kind of restaurant, I didnt think asking for a simple salad was asking tho much!

Went there last Sunday. Food was wonderful. Cost about 13 dollars per plate/dinner. I didnt like being interrupted every 8 mins for a refill or to be asked if everything was ok and that did not go down well with me. There were 3 different people serving too so I was confused who was supposed to get the tip. The waiter did an excellent job but the lady refilling glasses did not speak English and it was frustrating trying to communicate with her. I left a tip on the table and now realized that I double tipped after reading the comments below. Hence the 3 stars.

I have been paying your ridiculous prices and putting up with the rude staff for almost a decade. But after today Im done. For the second time in a month I placed a very simple carryout order, chicken makhani, plain naan, vegetable pakora and it was never prepared. When my wife came to pick it up the jerk behind the counter acted like she was crazy. As though some woman just walked in off the street demanding food. Admittedly the food has always been decent but this time youve crossed the line. Bye bye Baba! Its Shaan for me from now on.

Great food, always on time. I usually get Chicken Tikka Masala and it is just superb. its on the creamy side for those who care. I think its better that way but its a matter of personal taste. The dinner portions can absolutely feed 2 people. They are very large and reasonably priced for their size. I cannot recommend Baba enough! I get it as often as I can whenever Im home from college. My one complaint is that their hottest spice level (6) isnt *quite* hot enough for my tastes. Still fantastic, though.
