I can understand the theme this restaurant was built around -- authentic Indian style -- but, Id rather not go here for food. While the whole Thali concept is good, the execution is extremely poor and the price doesnt justify this. The food is unlimited -- if you would like -- but with the kind of service, you do not feel welcome to ask for more and the trolley they bring in to serve isnt very clean and attractive either. The Thali comes out in steel plates and cups, with limited quantities. Roti with two curries and yogurt. The good part is the fresh rotis but the curries werent really that good. The rotis kept on coming, but there is only so many we could have. The curries and service was a total turn off. BTW: The Thali does not include any appetizer or desert. Decor is good, but the owner / manager of the restaurant was a little too nosy. Yes, I dont mind some one coming around asking if everything is fine, but Id rather not have some one come, stay at our table talk to us for a really really long time. Id go back only if all other restaurants are closed and there is absolutely no other choice. Dont have to put a gun to my head to get me there -- thats for the "one star" restaurants. This one gets two not so shining stars.

To who all visit this so called vegeterian indian restaurant, the place looks shabby and dull. The furnitures are broken.. The whole atmosphere is utter mess and not at all friendly. This is one of the poorest Indian restaurant where in you will find the worst of Indian food. The hospitality is also the worst, The female who comes to serve sabzi for second time, would purposely delay. And this was only for Indians. There were some other people who were given a different treatment, and the difference was easily noticeable as well. Coming to the food aspect of it, there are no appetizers nor desserts as they advertise about it. The rotis didnt taste like the Indian. It almost tasted like the Mexican tortiloes (non-veg). It looked like the female was instructed not to serve and treat Indians properly. The owners are cunning and the place looks shabby and dull. There isnt anything that is good about this place. I just wonder, if they are not treating their own country people properly, what would they do with others and how are they stil surviving!!! This restaurant is not fit even for a single STAR. Worst to the core!!!

Horrible Gujarati food ever eaten. Yesterday, we had been there around 7:30 pm and there was only one family in the entire dining hall, but thought it might be little early for the dinner. The person at the register told us "You sit and I will bring the food", literally, these were his words. The thali contained potato curry, beans: rajma, paneer curry, cucumber raita, daal, rice, 2 rotis, a piece of papad. The first bite and I wanted to throw up. But it was food, so could not do it. There was no taste at all, rather it was blend. Paneer curry tasted like tomato puree. My daughters left all the food untouched except for the rotis. All the time the guy at the counter kept starring at us which also made us uncomfortable. In short, we ended up paying $34,93 for this garbage food. I am sorry to use this word but it really was. Any 10 years old can cook better if instructed properly. All those good reviews are from, looks like, those who never had tasted real good Indian food. Never ever again at this place. No, Big NO NO.

The food is plain. It is Thali and vegetarian (which I love) but theres not much spice to it. It tastes like it was made at someones home. If youre ok with that, then I think youll like it. Being bland was ok when it cost less and I did eat there a good bit when I worked a lot closer to it. Now that it costs more, it would be nice to get some food with more taste -- but thats just me. The service is good. The servers come around to fill up your Thali cups -- as many times as you like! However, the owner to me is a bit much to take. I know some people like him but he always makes me feel uncomfortable. He likes to kid around way too much. Maybe he rubs *me* the wrong way. Personality clash but dont let that stop you from trying the food for yourself. A lot of people like him evidently. You never know, you may just like this place too.

Great vegetarian Indian restaurant. For lunch they only do a thali plate, which currently consists of four different soups/stews, basmati rice, roti, papad, pakora, and a sweet yogurt dessert which I believe is shrikhand. You can get second helpings of most of the things served with the thali if you want. For $11 it is a pretty great deal. For dinner they offer the thali plate as well as sandwiches and a few different common Indian street foods. If youre going for dinner I highly recommend trying the bhel puri, it was absolutely delicious! The samosas were also great, crispy and fresh made. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is both times I have been here, the pakora served with the thali was not fresh. It was greasy and sort of soggy. Everything else however was excellent.

This is one of our local favorites. Pretty good, vegetarian Indian food. What you see if what you get. No menu, just sit down and wait for them to bring you the days treats. If you are vegan, they can leave out anything with dairy. There are usually 3-4 veg dishes plus a soup, rice and some sort of bread (naan, roti, etc). Pakora may be available and theres usually a small dessert as well. The heart of this place is the quirky, funny owner. If you are new, his humor could come off as him being serious, rude or awkward. I promise you, hes none of those things! Hes a constant joker, which you will love or hate. But his intentions are good and he likes to play around with his patrons. Go with the flow, humor him...or ignore if you want. Herbivores and carnivores can enjoy!

A Modest place with good simple Indian/Gujarati vegetarian food, good service and relatively inexpensive food. Please go in with realistic expectations and you will not be disappointed. Its a simple family owned and run restaurant. Ambience is nothing to wow .. If anything it is minimalistic. But service is personable and sometimes some people see that as intrusive. They serve a simple menu but its healthy food. Its not as rich and spicy as the other Indian food; but that is where I think people go in with wrong expectations - simple Gujarati food is not supposed to be rich and spicy. I hadnt been here in ages and went in again recently after years; the service and quality is still admirable.

Ive been hearing buzz about Vatica for a while and finally went with friends. I didnt know one of them was a allergic to ginger, and almost everything had ginger in it. The server was so nice and the kitchen made Samosas for her, even though they werent supposed to serve those at the time. He double checked everything thoroughly, even the spice blends, making her health a top priority. The food was great. If youre looking for salty and greasy, dont go here. This is all home-style, vegetarian/vegan, authentic Indian food. And so much of it for a ridiculously small price! Even my boyfriend who feels he "needs" meat, was full and happy. Really earned my five stars.
