We invited a couple of friends for lunch at Bernardins this past Saturday. We have been out of the country for almost two years and wanted to honor these friends with an invitation to one of our favorite restaurants in town before we left. The experience we had was far from what we expected of a place with the reputation of Bernardins. The salad that came with what we ordered was a very, very small amount of sad looking lettuce with perhaps one tomato. The main course of salmon was mostly mashed potatoes, and the bottle of cuvée was served without any container to keep it cool. But the most disappointing part of it all was the waiter. His attitude was like he was doing us a favor for waiting on us. He brought the bill before we had the chance to order coffee or dessert, and when we told him, he said he had asked us if we wanted anything and no one responded. No one of us heard him; we were talking. His comment was uncalled for. When he brought the coffee, he spilled the cream. We wanted to leave the place as fast as we could. It is unlikely we will ever return.

the service bad. the tables close together. people who order a lot of food. get good service. The host/hostess and wait staff same problems. The walk away from us, rush to get rid of us, walk behind us and yell in our ear, yell and interrupt, walk away from us and not want to wait on us, and walk away from females while talking to employees, sometimes come back and other times not come back, eat while wait on, and repeat the same questions. The wait person got angry at the tip. The meat dishes are spicy. And some have a lot of salt in it tables are close to together and hard to walk.wait person not wan to write down the order. We had to ask him to do the job. He got angry when we not spend much money. And gave food and drink. try to run away and ask us if we want anymore to eat.It is fine dining and not the service.

Really great menu with unique options and something for everyone. Ive only eaten outside on the patio, which has a great ambience other than a very direct view of the grimy kitchen, depending on which side of the table youre sitting. Food is good, but fails to excite the palate, particularly considering the price point and all the expectations the environment sets.

Absolutely a great dining experience. Staff is very professional and friendly. Food quality is outstanding. Ideal for taking my customers out for a business dinner. Highly recommended. The Zevely house is lovely and has a fabulous atmosphere.

Sit outside or in large dining room upstairs. Tuna Tuna is great. Lobster Lobster, too. Mussels. Service is friendly if not totally professional. Dont over order- portions are more than ample.
