I went to this restaurant because my sister mentioned it. Shes a great cook in her own right and not just Puerto Rican food. The taste of the beans still linger in my mind. As good as my sister and my daughter are at cooking, (and they both are spectacular) I would choose the beans every time from this place. It was a taste I have never tasted in beans. I do agree with those who say the utensil setting is inappropriate. Kids can easily stuff used utensils back into the cup while parents are distracted. If they correct that, I would gladly give it a 5. As a Puerto Rican from New York who also lived in PR, their beans are exceptional. Im hard to please with beans. I hate them. But not these. Ive noticed some very negative reviews. Its my experience that some people want to be treated like Princesses on a poor mans budget. The world doesnt have to cater to you because you left a 1 dollar tip. This is not fine dining and most of those who complain have never been in a fine dining situation. I bet they dont even know theres 2 ways to hold utensils. The European way and the American way. Sizzlers is not high end dining. In fact, you break a piece of the bread you wish to eat and butter that piece alone. Not the entire bread. I will say my sisters mofongo is much better tasting.

We arrived at 8:42pm on Saturday night ,once seated it took 18 mins for someone to come to our table ( the restaurant only had 12 customers in it ) once we finally ordered....7mins later the waitress says that they dont have some of the items that we ordered.....So my husband says he wants nothing ( since they dont have what he wants) and said you get what you want ....I said cancel our order and we left .....The manager shouldve did what ever necessary to not lose a customer or at least talk to us to ease our minds....We have a food business ourselves....and at anytime a customer is displeased I do my best to ease their minds.... You gotta do better...You never know whos walking into your establishment

Horrible experiencia.

The "fried chicken chunks" are way more appetizing than they sound. The place is a little dark in the later hours of the evening - maybe its mood lighting, but it was just a bit too dim for my taste. The music was fun and energetic and matched the tropical theme of the murals on the walls and the restaurant name. The murals are fun to look at and discuss with your table mates. The wait staff was attentive but not overly personable, but I almost never had to worry about refills for my soda. The side dishes werent too memorable, but the fried chicken chunks Ill definitely be back for.

Ill start by saying the customer service was EXCELLENT! In and out of the restaurant in an hour and the restaurant was full when we got there! Server was VERY attentive and even the manager came around asking about our dining experience. Prices were very good. The only reason I am not giving it a full 5 star is because being Puerto Rican myself, I noticed a bit lack of seasoning on the food, not much though (maybe Im too demanding). However, the food was great. Decoration, background music, atmosphere in general made me feel back home. Would definitely come again.

Best Puertorican food in the area. The dining room stays warm enough that you will feel like you are on a tropical Island :-). The service is a bit slow but the food is delicious and portions are generous. The fried pork nuggets, pulled pork, mofongo, Fried sweet plantains, pastelillos and many others are as authentic as what you would get if you flew down to Puerto Rico. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The slow service I am sure is due to the care and time they put into preparing fresh food. So glad that this location opened up closer to me.

My husband made an online order and it wasnt ready when I got there 15 minutes later. No problem waiting, but they couldnt find my order, seemingly. I was asked to wait. I waited 5-10 more minutes while nothing was being done and when I finally asked for assistance again, it was clear that they had never seen my order and it wasnt even being made. I asked to be refunded what I had prepaid online and the woman made a face at me like that was not possible. The food is good but never order online and dont expect to get in and out quickly.

This place is giving puertorrican food a bad name. I ordered "yellow rice" , arroz con gandules and it didnt have any flavor at all. It look like mexican rice with some gandules added to it. Ordered a lunch special , Pernil, rice and tostones and the girl insisted in charging me extra for the tostones, but the menu listed tostones as of one the sides. Service is terrible and not very friendly. I waited about 20 mins for my order. I dont think Ill be going back, have to find me another place to eat some good puertorrican food.

I loooove this place! Lunch specials and buffet (limited days) are a great deal. On some entrees the price can be a bit higher than I think is necessary, however, its worth it to me since every bite reminds me of my birthplace (PR). Service is usually pretty good and regarding waiting times, it depends on how busy they are and what you order. Fresh mofongo (fried and mashed plantains) will always take a while to make, at any restaurant, even if the place is empty, but its so worth it! Noms!

Found them on Groupon during a trip to Raleigh from Jacksonville. Wow. The customer service was great, the staff was so friendly, the manager(im assuming, could be the owner) came out and sore to us. It was a great atmosphere. And The pulled pork and tostones! And the Arroz con pollo !!!!!! Yuummyyy. I have eaten Dominican, Carribean, and Puerto Rican food from all over and I will definitely be back everytime I come to Raleigh. Keep up the great work, i highly recommend this restaraunt!
