The good: Im a southern boy by heart, if not by birth. I really enjoyed the tomato pie appetizer. For northerners who may not be familiar with it, think tomatoes au gratin, but tasty! The wine list was impressive and the mojitos, perfection. The bad: Although Im a southern boy by heart, my palette is pretty sophisticated...I know when youve put a canned beef gravy over some potentially amazing lamb loin. The few untouched pieces were amazing; they were done exactly to order and the rub they were covered in was perfect for the meat. The gravy, sucked. The mashed potatoes had potential - there was a hint of garlic and 2% milk. Had they simply switched the milk for cream and loaded the potatoes with garlic, one could over look the mismatched gravy. The low down: I went with several other people who are of smaller appetite than myself. They ordered, what they considered, very good food from the appetizer menu and went away full. I could have very well stopped at the tomato pie and gone home full, but, I am a bit of a glutton. Go for the appetizers and the drinks. Its a nice atmosphere.

We stopped by last night and watched the sunset which was a fabulous spot - lots of lively people and fun. The bartender was surly - we figured if he didnt like his job, that wasnt our problem - maybe he should get another. Then we went inside to get a table for dinner. They took us in a dining room, slapped the menus down, and walked away without a word. They seated us beside a large group of people with loud kids. No one acknowledged us, but I admit we didnt stay very long, waiting. Very disappointing.

My wife and I never fail to visit Roadside at least once during our annual visits to Duck. This year it was last weekend and we checked out Roadside twice. Both times it was outstanding as always. The food is not typical "bar and grille," but notable selections and specials with a contemporary twist that would no be out of place in a good place in NYC. We do appreciate the effort the chef and the staff make. I dont know when we first found Roadside, but we have been visiting Duck since the 1980s.

The food was superb. Limited parking. We arrived on a hot, busy day and waited for seating. In the booths near the kitchen / bar there is an airflow problem. If you have 6 people at a booth and you are sitting at the back of the booth, the temperature is another 10+ degrees hotter. This made the otherwise good food and drink a lesser experience. Ventilation or some solution should be put in place. 5 stars other than this problem that had someone in our party recuperating back at our house.

40 minute wait for food, only kid meal is buttered noodles and cheese. Tried to only bring 1/2 of the soft shell poboy out for my husbands meal, I ordered sauce to be on the side as well as lettuce and tomato on the side of my shrimp poboy, waitress completely over looked all of this. Been here before and thought it was great, this time we were really disappointed. The atmosphere was great, sat outside.

Unexpected pleasure. Looking for a nice place to celebrate our anniversary. First choice was closed on Monday but the proprietor recommended Roadside as a local favorite. I will describe it as 4 start food in a 2 star building - however, the building as a story (ask server) that pushed it to 3 stars. Surprising, chicken was not a menu item. Great place, would recommend

Wow. The food here is good enough to dominate a foodie market like NY City. One of the top ten meals Ive ever had. Perfectly balanced plates. Great cocktails, warm and welcoming service, chill and interesting interior, decor, music. Do not miss this place! Update - 04/22/15. I am STILL thinking about those scallops. Hopefully I make it back to NC soon!

Traveled to a good many places, and had some really great rib-eyes. The one here was one of my very favorites. The char grilled outside was perfect. The red wine and mushroom sauce was just enough as not to over power the flavor of the steak. Mine was paired perfectly with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Would definitely eat here again.

I only gave it 4 stars because it has limited seating (and long wait times) when the weather does not allow the extensive outdoor seating to be used. The food was really good! Its a great cost place, and the staff was very friendly. Kids are allowed, but its not really a restaurant meant for kids. Overall, a good night out for adults!

Ended up here because everything else we tried was closed for the season. Pleasantly suprised, food was outstanding and they made accommodations for my seafood phobic 11 year old. Great bottle beer list and a handful of regional beers on tap. A bit pricey, but no complaints on the quality of the food or the service.

Went for dinner last week and had an excellent experience. Friendly staff, their homemade pretzel bread/honey butter was incredible, and then had the Carolina Seafood Muddle for dinner. I put that dish in my Top 5 for Best Entree I Have Ever Eaten. A week later, and I cant stop thinking about it. Phenomenal job.

a most unfriendly place. My wife and I stopped by for lunch. Seeing nobody to seat us we sat down at a table. Two wait servers buzzed by many times and never once acknowledged our presence. As we got up to leave somebody that works there said to my wife "have a nice day". VERY VERY UNFRIENDLY!!!!!

My Wife and I have visited Roadside many times over our various vacations to Duck. We absolutely love this restaurant! You may have to wait to be seated initially depending on the amount of staff present and the season but, it is well worth it. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.

Its always a treat to stop in some out of the way restaurant and be pleasantly surprised. The roadside cafe has a hole in the wall feel with wonderful food. The staff is attentive and kind. You should probably look somewhere else for dinner if seafood isnt your thing, though.

I LOVE the OBX Roadside Bar & Grill! Great from the beginning to the end!!!! Great atmosphere, awesome fresh food & friendly staff! You can watch the grill behind the bar as your food is being cooked! The summer menu sea scallop appetizer is a superb start! We will be back:)

Food was nothing short of amazing. Price point is in the $25-40 for entrees. Good portions and the food was incredible. Chowder, shrimp and grits are great appetizers. Really cool outdoor bar around back with live music, cornhole, ladder golf, etc. Dont miss this place.

This is the place youre looking for if youre looking for great seafood, fun atmosphere and friendly staff. I loved that it was a small locally owned business with quirky decor and fun waitstaff. The food was awesome. The crabcake was solid meat. I definitely recommend

Great food and great environment. I love the open air kitchen and comfy feel of the restaurant. We try to eat outside when the weather permits. Nice beer selection and diverse menu. Highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy local restaurant with big flavors.
