3 words say it best...Will Go Again. Without a doubt this place has instilled confidence in me for the Cary restaurant scene. This has been by far the best Mexican food Ive had in a long time and what tops this place is the amazing service both the server and the owner/manager gave to my family and I. Granted, this place isnt budget friendly but its apparent the quality of the food and service warrant the cost. We sampled quite a bit of their Mexican fare over the 5 of us (1 being a 1 year old). Their ceviche trio is out of bounds, as are their signature tequila drinks. Their pineapple habenero margarita was outstanding, but their strawberry cucumber cocktail could use a bit more umph. Their chilaquiles dish was really on point and authentic, as was the presentation. The skirt steak with friend plantains and cheese was my wifes dish and this brought her back to her roots and her moms home cooking. If youre a fan of fresh, authentic Mexican dishes and great service this place is for you, even if youre bringing young ones youll feel welcome, but choose your drink wisely as the tequila focused beverages seem to be your best bet.

Ill preface this with it was out first time here and we were a party of 9 (7 adults and 2 kids) The food was tasty, everybody ordered something different and everybody was pleased with what they ordered. The issue arose with the service. We were sat down to eat, they brought us all waters right away and then came back and got our drink orders. After what seemed like awhile the waitress came back and asked if we were ready to order food. We said yes, but understandably being our first time at the restaurant we had questions about the menu. She quickly became exasperated and again asked if we were ready to order because she had other tables to attend to. The whole time looking at the table behind us and apologizing to them for not attending them. I felt rushed and discriminated against. I understand that one server will have more than one table, but if at the time youre taking care of us and our table then answer our questions and make us feel welcome. Instead it just seemed like her time and other tables were more important than we were. I would return but only if I was served by someone else.

Totopos is our favorite restaurant. We no longer live nearby but still get cravings and make the drive to Cary just to eat here. We go so often that we have become friends with a staff member, John, who always makes an extra effort to come say hello even when the place is packed. The food has always been delicious, extremely flavorful, and fresh. The service is fast and friendly. We havent ordered anything so far that we didnt like. My personal favorite dish is the Chile de Nogada (which is not on the menu but so far they have still been making it for me; it was a special at one time). Great chips and salsa/queso/guac too. This place is highly recommended. My only complaint is that it gets pretty loud on busy nights, but not much you can do about that! While I would not consider it "budget friendly," it is such good quality food and service that it is well worth it. Fingers crossed that they decide to open another one in Raleigh!

First time was great, food is good, second time was great also, until we found a small rubber band in the beans. Calmly asked for a manager, he walked up I pointed at the rubber band and simply said we found this in the beans. He grabs it and says I will be right back. He walked away and we then asked for the check because I would refuse a discount, because that will not make it better. A few minutes later he comes back, apologizes then says I talked to the chef we dont know where it came from we dont even have any of it in the kitchen.... Really?! So what we stuck it there?! That is rude, I didnt ask or expect any sort of compensation I simply wanted the manager to know. He made no attempt to make it better in what so ever way. This is disgusting, both from a cleanliness stand point, and from the stand point that dude dares to imply that it did not come from his kitchen... Avoid this place

After trying Viva DF tequila & taco bar for lunch yesterday, we thought wed try Totopos (one of their other restaurants) for dinner tonight. Still the same Mexican street food flare at both restaurants with an extensive selection of Margaritas and Tequilas. We started with the Guacamole trio, which were all excellent. The mango in the bacon-mango one was a well balanced addition. For the entrees we had the Mahi-Mahi Tacos. The fish was lightly blackened and grilled; juicy to perfection, with a mango salsa (delicious!). We also had the Chicken Tinga Nachos. The only complaint I had about the nachos was the crema dulce, which was sweetened, and a bit odd for my palate. I will order the Nachos with out it next time. The chicken tinga is by far the best I have ever had. I highly recommend trying it any of the many dishes that include this marvel.

I was here at dinner on Sunday for the first time. 2 margaritas and 6 small tacos later our bill came out to more than $60. The blond server was nice and well groomed but her skills as a waitress were lacking. She just kinda paid no more attention to us after first rushing us to take our orders. We had to ask for our chips and salsa bc apparently its optional and not everyone gets it. we had to ask for our check. We had to ask for drink refills. No checkback after bringing us our tacos (I got chipotle shrimp ) which were so greasy it was running off the tacos, off the taco holder, and off the plate. The food was fresh and good but portions were small and WAY overpriced. Service was slow and kids were screaming everywhere. The decorations were fun and the atmosphere was hip but the food and the service did not match up. I was extremely disapointed.

My husband and I were running errands today and decided to check this place out for lunch. We walked in to what appeared to be a completely empty restaurant. It was creepy. Then someone appeared but didnt speak to us and just took us to a table. At this point I did notice that there were 3 other tables that were occupied...out of like 60. She leads us all the way to the back at the smallest table in the place right next to the kitchen. If you have ever worked in a restaurant you know what kind of insult it is to be seated next to the kitchen. Even more so when 99% of the entire business was EMPTY! I said could we have a table not next to the kitchen and she threw our menus down and said well you can sit wherever you want and stormed off. We left. We wont be back. But I am jot concerned because that business wont last long there.

Totopos is a great Mexican restaurant styled off of the street food from Mexico City. We love that they use fresh, sometimes organic, ingredients. Weve tried a few things and keep coming back to the tacos as our favorite. Though it feels like a place that might be a chain, its not- they are local to NC with 2 locations, and we like that. Pretty much the only thing we dont like is how Ridiculously loud it is! lol. For some reason the volume of people talking is absurd. The only place to sit and actually talk to (and Hear) another person is the bar. So now we always sit in the bar. Thats the only reason I cant give 5 stars. Definitely recommend, especially for out of towners. This is not a date place, a married people date place if you sit in the bar... This is a girls night, office party kind of place.
