Google asks me to describe my experience at Five Guys--it was life changing, transcendent, and mind-altering. Well, maybe not--but it was really good. Id been hearing about Five Guys for a few months and decided our vacation to the coast was the time to try it. Without much exaggeration I can say this really was a highlight of our trip. A fast food place, a highlight of our trip? Yeah, really! Well get the prelims out of the way first--the restaurant appeared to be hospital clean, the staff was friendly--from the cashiers to the cooks (who are all out in the open, theyre not hiding much of the kitchen from you like some places), and I enjoyed the decor--the walls were lined with magazine articles about how great 5 Guys was which was a little odd, but hey--a little psychological priming never hurt anyone, right? The free help yourself boxes of peanuts are also a nice touch--any restaurant with unlimited peanuts automatically gets a point in my book. But lets get to the real meat (see what I did there?) of the review--the food. The Burgers & Fries made by these 5 Guys. In a word, awesome. Their burgers are huge, and I think their default is to offer you a double burger (I could be wrong here, I might have spaced & actually ordered a double, but lets not quibble over details). The burger was hands down one of the best Ive had--I kept mine simple, bacon, cheese, lettuce & BBQ sauce (you can have them add any toppings you want, pretty good selection) and it was fantastic. The fries too were fry-liscious, and I dont make up that word lightly. They were great, they were served to us in cups and in a paper bag, and it looked like the servers had assumed (rightly, as it turns out) that we were hungry so they just kept throwing in fries. We had enough fries to bring home & have the next day, and this is the truly amazing part--they were still good the next day. Does that ever happen with french fries? I dont think so, Tim. And my wife laughs at me for this, and I shouldnt be admitting it publicly, but they have a pop machine from the future. One of those fancy touch screen ones that let you choose the kind of pop you want & then add in a choice of flavorings. Silly, I know, but that totally made my day. (Heres a tip for 5 Guys though--Dr Pepper > Mr Pibb) So TLDR review: Id consider another 1100 mile drive to eat there again (ok, the ocean helps--but Id still eat at 5 Guys). Thankfully theyre opening locations up closer to us within months--you can bet well be eating there near opening day.

A little disappointed today. The medium order of fries was no bigger than the small order I have gotten at the myrtle beach store. I got a to go order today. Wont stop here again. Not worth the money. I guess most restaurants start cutting back after a while.

I have been to a lot of 5 Guys Restaurants and they are all good but this one runs like a well oiled machine. The team is friendly and getting your food to you in a timely manor is a priority. Great Job.
